ISS RELEASE FINAL RANKINGS AHEAD OF NHL DRAFT
June 20th, 2022
The Ottawa Senators have no doubt been busy conducting interviews and going through all their notes and comparative research. This Draft can shape the future of the organization. By owning the 2nd and 3rd picks in a deep draft like this year, as well as 11 others beyond the first round the team can round out it's core as they hope to move from Rebuilder to Fringe Playoff Contender.
The organization features a bevy of Centers, and have some great prospects in Wellmore, Tkachuk, Formenton and Chabot. But the team will possibly need to add to it's scoring depth and defensive depth. There is certainly intriguing possibilities in the Top 5, although it isn't certain if the Senators will go off the board at this point.
ISS TOP 5 PROSPECTS
1. Alex Lafreniere - QMJHL - LW - 6'1/196
2. Sergei Punnenovs - KHL - RW - 6'3/194
3. Lucas Raymond - SweJE - RW - 5'11/170
4. Quinton Byfield - OHL - C - 6'4/215
5. Jamie Drysdale - OHL - RD - 5'11/172
LAFRENIERE
The most complete player in the draft. Plays both ends of the ice well, uses high hockey IQ to make beautiful plays. Elite scoring threat. NHL ready.
Played with men this year and dominated for his team. Fast and electric winger. Plays with some physicality. Ran the Powerplay from the Point for his KHL team. Favorite Player: Ovechkin. NHL ready.
A 17 year old playing with men on a stacked Frolunda team, Raymond saw limited minutes but performed admirably at the World Juniors. A play making winger, has great vision and plays both end of the ice very well. Good vision and skating speed. Has a very underrated wrist shot. NHL ready.
Can play large, uses his body to shield the puck, hard to get the puck away from. Gifted goal scorer for a big guy. Can shy away from the physical game. Favorite Player: Joe Thornton. Not quite NHL ready.
A perpetual OHL All-Star, Drysdale is perhaps the most offensively gifted Defenceman in the draft. Making Team Canada as a 17 year old put him in elite company. He has produced at all levels. Is capable of running the Powerplay and driving the offense with his elite skating, edgework and hockey IQ. Plays the game with poise and confidence beyond his years. Not quite NHL ready.SENS -

SENS DRAFT PUNNENOVS AND BYFIELD
June 24th, 2022
Petr Dano walked up to the podium and addressed the crowd, to some raucous cheers, "With the Second Overall Pick, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select from the Omsk Avangard, Sergei Punnenovs." It was apparent that the Senators were going to go with the Best Player Available at this stage. Returning to the Podium, Dano then went to select another large bodied center in Quinton Byfield.
Dano would return to the Podium eight more times, during the course of the draft. He would go on to draft 3 straight defenseman in the second and third rounds, a speedy LW in the fourth, and then go with some goaltenders in the fifth and sixth round.
Only time will tell if any of these Draft Picks pan out, but for the time being, welcome to the Ottawa Senators.

SENS PREP FOR BUSY FREE AGENCY PERIOD
June 30th, 2022
With Free Agency just around the corner, General Manager Petr Dano finished signing Entry Level Contract's to 7 rookies. More notably, Byfield, Punnenovs, Barlage, Sogaard and Rhinehart.
This leaves 6 roster spots free for Dano to dive into Free Agency. With no more internal salary cap, the second year GM hopes to land a Top Pairing Defenseman, a Top 9 forward to replace the departed DuClair and a Goaltender to compete with Condon for the starting job.
Signed:
RW Sergei Punnenovs
C Quinton Byfield
C Logan Barlage
G Mada Sogaard
D Rhett Rhinehart
LW Dimitri Afinogenov
D Rex Aulie

Condon is currently 29-15-2 as the starter for the St Louis Blues. Tied for 5th in wins with Braden Holtby.
The Goaltender who is 4th in wins? Elvis Merzlikins. 30-17-9 as the starter for the Carolina Hurricanes
Both have more wins than goalies like Frederik Andersen, Andrei Vasilevsky, Carey Price & Tukka Rask (who has unbelievably lost more than he's won) among othersComment

Update: you have Condon & Merzlikins? Well if they pan out the way they are in my playthrough you'll be set for years.

Re: RISE UP: A NHL 20 Ottawa Senators BAGM
FREE AGENCY FLOP
July 1st, 2022
The Senators had hoped to make a big slash on the first day of Free Agency, but as the hours rolled forward, fans became anxious as big names started to sign with other teams. The Senators were reportedly trying to reel in a skilled Right Handed Shot Defenseman to play with Chabot. Names in the mix appear to be Travis Harmonic or Kevin Shattenkirk.
By the end of the day, some hope was gleamed as the team has secured some scoring depth by signing Mattias Janmark and former Senator Fredrik Claesson.
