SENS FALL FLAT AGAINST LOWLY COYOTES
      December 9th, 2021

The Senators traveled to Glendale to take on the Phoenix Coyotes. Another team that has been struggling this season. The Coyotes have been embattled all season with injuries, and are currently missing notable stars such as: Phil Kessel, Clayton Keller and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Despite their depleted roster, Phoenix came out strong in the first period and dominated the play for most of the period. Michael Chaput almost broke the deadlock, when he rang a snapshot off the post and Craig Anderson robbed Lawson Crouse in close after an errant rebound deflected right to him.

After another scoreless second period, Michael Grabner scored the go ahead goal when a rebound left the puck sitting in the slot. Several bodies converged, but Grabner was able to get his stick on it and slide it five-hole before Anderson could get set.

Darcy Kuemper would pick up the his 8th win and first shutout of the year after turning aside 26 shots on net. Despite his best efforts, Craig Anderson would finish the game stopping 34 of 35 shots.

The Senators will now return home for a lengthy eight game home stand before the Holiday Break.

Darcy Kuemper stopped 26 shots on the way to his 17th Career Shutout as the Coyotes defeat the Sens 1-0.

Never fun to keep getting slapped around by other teams.

Glad to see Bobby Ryan is having some success.

          Thanks for commenting.

I'm lowkey okay with tanking this season. Just like the real Sens, I am trying to rebuild to be competitive in the next three years, plus these Superstar Sliders are kicking my butt.

I got impatient again and simmed to the Holiday Break. That was a big mistake, apparently the CPU plays worse then I do.

SENS HEAD INTO BREAK LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
              December 23rd, 2021

The Ottawa Senators were projected to have a rough year, with many of their stars being moved in a roster dump in the previous years. The trades allowed the team to bring in new pieces and younger talent, but that talent is going to take time to develop and become fruitful. Many of the projections didn't have the team floundering this badly as the team currently sits dead last in the league with a 10-22-2 record and currently on a eight game losing streak. In the Atlantic Division, the 7th placed team Toronto Maple Leafs sits a full 10 points ahead of them.

When asked about a coaching change, General Manager Petr Dano said "We are going through a process, one that could take some time to become fruitful. We are going to stay the course and work on the things that we can improve upon".

The Senators seem to be at the back of the league on almost all the team statistics. The team is 32nd in Goals For, 30th in Goal Against, 22nd in Powerplay Percentage and 32nd in Penalty Kill. With all the negative team statistics there is still some hope. Young prospects like Chabot, Tkachuk, Wellmore, and Zaitsev have seemed to step up their individual games and progressed nicely.

                      AHL REPORT
                      December 26th, 2021

With a look at the Senators AHL Team, The Belleville Senators, the league is proving ground for many top prospects and NHL journeymen. Playing in the North Division consisting of 7 other teams, the Baby Sens are surprisingly mediocre this season. Featuring such talent as Drake Batherson, Alex Formenton, Logan Brown and Erik Brannstrom the team has had flashes of success, but also moments of glaring errors. Chalk it up to inexperience, but hopefully the young players will start finding success in the second half of the season.

The Senators sit 4th Overall in the North Division, while muddling at 7th in the Eastern Conference. If they qualify for the playoffs, there is a good chance that they will be reinforced with quality players currently playing for the big club.

Although most of the Senators team stats are middle of the road, it's Penalty Killing Situations that is burying this team. The team has allowed a league leading number of Powerplay Goals against. With a PK% of 82.2. Aside from that the Senators rank 16th in PP%, 8th in Goals For and 20th in Goals Against.

It should be no surprise that Drake Batherson is the teams top scorer registering 8 goals and 28 assists in 31 games.

BRUINS POLISH OFF SENS IN THIRD
                        December 27th, 2021

The Ottawa Senators had a record breaking performance, and not in a good way as the team set a Franchise Record for consecutive losses with 9. The previous record was 8, set in the 2017/18 season. The alarming fact was that this record was set amidst a long home stand; which sets an additional record for longest home losing streak.

In typical Senators fashion, the team performed admirably in the first two periods. Where after a Charlie Coyle Powerplay Marker, they responded with a quick counter goal from Brady Tkachuk.

Midway through the Third Period, some sloppy play led to a Bruins 5 on 3. It didn't take long for the leagues best Powerplay to go to work. A bullet pass from Pastrnak found Marchand in his office on the side of the net. The Bruins would add another Powerplay marker as Coyle would add his second PPG for 15 goals on the season.

The Bruins would go on to put home a empty netter and end the night going 3/6 on the PP. Craig Anderson would save 38 of 41 shots in a losing cause as the B's upend the Sens 4-1.

SENS TOP BLUEJACKETS WITH RARE SHOOTOUT WIN
                          December 29th, 2021

There was a duel between two goaltenders tonight, as Craig Anderson remained perfect in regulation and in the shootout to edge out Joonas Korpisalo.

Both teams were unable to capitalize on their Powerplay chances as Ottawa went 0/4 and Columbus went 0/6. Anderson had to be brilliant as he stopped 39 shots on net; while Korpisalo stopped 28.

Thomas Chabot scored the lone shootout goal, with a slick deke on the Finnish Netminder, giving the Senators a 1-0 Shootout Win and halting their 9 game losing skid.
