FLORIDA BESTS TORONTO IN OVERTIME; LEAD SERIES 1-0

Johnathan Huberdeau scored the overtime winning goal to help Florida defeat Toronto 4-3 in overtime to take a 1-0 Series Lead.

Johnathan Toews added 3 assists, former Leaf Tyler Ennis added a goal and an assist, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves

Timothy Liljegren, Yegor Korshkov and Tomas Vanek, who scored the game tying goal, scored for the Maple Leafs while Frederik Andersen made 21 saves as well

LEAFS WIN GAME IN OVERTIME; SERIES TIED

John Tavares scored the overtime winner and Frederik Andersen made 21 saves (.955%, 0.98GAA) as the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Florida Panthers 2-1 in Overtime. Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky was absolutely brilliant, making 30 saves for a .938% & 1.96GAA.

The first period was again scoreless. Brett Connolly would score the games first goal 2 minutes into the second. They would then clamp down so tight defensively, it looked like the Leafs would never tie it. Despite numerous shots (29 of the teams shots came in regulation), the Leafs wouldn't tie it until 2 minutes left when John Tavares would hit a streaking Mitch Marner for a beautiful cross ice one timer. That set up overtime

And it was John Tavares and Mitch Marner again. This time, Mitch Marner would take a shot, which was saved, the puck bounced to Auston Matthews, who did a spin o rama that was miraculously saved but the rebound of that went to Tavares, who was left with a wide open net

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alexander Steen will return to the lineup tonight against the Florida Panthers. Steen, 37, has missed the last 4 games due to an Injury he suffered in Game 6 of the Quarterfinals

Florida will be out defenseman Anton Stralman, who suffered an injury in game 2. Mackenzie Weegar will slot into the lineup.

If games one and two were any indication, it looks like this could shape up to be a very long trip in the sunny state of Florida

LEAFS CRUISE PAST FLORIDA TO TAKE LEAD IN SERIES

Frederik Andersen had to make just 14 saves as the Toronto Maple Leafs downed the Florida Panthers 4-1 in easily the Leafs best game of the series, and potentially playoffs as for once the offense and defense worked perfectly. A 3rd period blurp by Michael Matheson was the only hiccup in the game.

The first period was, as it has been all series scoreless. A minor Penalty by Jay Bouwmeester was killed off.

Early in the second, the changes coach Smaby made provided early dividends with Marner & Tavares playing tic tac toe before Tavares would hit a streaking William Nylander for goal number one at 5:31 of the period.

Alexander Kerfoot, put on a line with Auston Matthews and Alex Tuch, affectionately known as The A-Team, took a beautiful behind the net backhand pass from Tuch to make the game 2-0 and 15:16. Timothy Liljegren would add the secondary assist. That's how the period would end, Leafs up 2-0 in goals and 22-12 in shots.

The third period was supposed to see a push from Florida. Michael Matheson did score at 1:53, but that's all they would get. Florida only had 3 shots on net in the third period

The third line combined for a goal at 3:42, as Jesper Bratt tipped a Tomas Vanek slapshot past Bobrovsky, JT Compher would get the secondary assist. The top line would combine again for a goal at 19:08, with Mitch Marner scoring of a great play by defenseman Morgan Reilly; William Nylander got the secondary assist.

Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky finished the game with 29 saves on 33 shots.
