    Mark Calaway was born in Houston, Texas and after watching WCCW on TV when he was a kid, he decided that he wanted to be a wrestler rather than a basketball player after having to make the choice at the request of his college basketball coach.

    Mark was given a verbal contract by Houston Championship Wrestling.
