Re: Something in the Making: Lam Matteo (PES 2009)
Fulham - Welcome to Europa
Blackburn scandal erupts, Cottagers benefit
by Mark Schwarzer last updated 2 September 2024
Fulham are expected to struggle in the UEFA Europa League
It was announced Monday that Blackburn Rovers have been disqualified from the Uefa Europa league due to suspcions of foul play off the field. Ironically, the methods in which Blackburn were granted qualification to the Europa league was due to receiving the Fair Play Act Entrance Award. Rovers were given the awards as a result of not receiving any red cards during the 2023 season.
So it was quite the discovery that FIFA president Michel Platini opted to review all UEFA Europa League entrants via video reviews and additional "insider suggestions" which ultimately marked the topic officially as a scandal.
"We are pleased for our club," says Fulham coach, Danny Murphy, "But it's disheartening to know that FIFA has stooped to this level of review, let me rephrase that, that FIFA has to stoop at all in the first place is the part that brings things down. Eitherway, we will be ready for Atletico Madrid come Thursday."

Re: Something in the Making: Lam Matteo (PES 2009)
Love it! Must've been an awesome match. A 6 goal thriller.
The 2nd goal was awesome. One of Matteo's better ones. Showed good strenght, keeping the opponent off his back. Working out the last couple months has paid off. :P
Which reminds me of Iniesta's winning goal in the Champions League semi final against Chelsea 2.5 years ago! Very similar goal. That one resulted in a bit more emotional reactions though. :P
And yeah, the offside goal was definitely offside. 0
Lastly, love the storyline. As soon as I read Blackburn banned from EL, I knew Fulham would get in for the Fair Play Award. Good little twist and the only reasonable explanation. Happy to see Matteo in Europe again this season.
(And 5 out of 5 is a good start of the season.) I can't wait for more.Last edited by mamizu; 12-10-2011, 06:39 PM.Comment

The goals have been givens - but that last one was one I just wanted so bad, especially after feeling the AI cheat was in full effect, when in fact - it was like real footie (and Fulham) where Chris Baird's terribly timed header allowed Falcao the potential winner.
Oh well, update in a couple secs - can't stop playing, my friend!Comment
