Re: WWF 1991 with a twist

Gorilla Monsoon – Welcome to WWF Prime Time! I'm Gorilla Monsoon and you all know my broadcast colleague Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. March is here and we're only a few short weeks away from WrestleMania VII! The WWF has recently entered into an agreement with CMLL in Mexico and you'll be seeing lots of exciting new international stars! We will be bringing you the best of the World Wrestling Federation and the best of CMLL in Mexico! Lets kick things off with a tag team contest pitting the Million Dollar Team of Ted DiBiase and Virgil against Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, The Rockers.

The Rockers had things going their way until the rule breaking of the Million Dollar Team finally got the better of them and sealed their fate, when DiBiase rolled up Shawn Michaels, hooked the tights, and the oblivious ref counted 1,2,3

Winners – The Million Dollar Team, Ted DiBiase and Virgil

      [back to the studio]
Gorilla Monsoon – What an awful way to lose a match! That referee did an atrocious job and was constantly out of position, I wouldn't be shocked to find out that DiBiase paid him off!

Bobby Heenan – Ted DiBiase would never do such a dishonorable thing. He's a competitor, a man of honor, and a fantastic wrestler. The Rockers never had a chance.

Gorilla Monsoon – Yeah, ofcourse you would say positive things about your former business associate..lets go to Sean Mooney who is standing by with my colleague Bobby Heenan and his charge Mr. Perfect, take it away Sean!

Sean Mooney – Thank you Gorilla Monsoon, I'm here with the current reigning Intercontinental champion Mr. Perfect and his manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Mr. Perfect, tonight you go up against “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, how do you feel about that and are you at all worried?

Mr. Perfect – Worried? Sean Mooney, you're asking if Mr. Perfect is worried?

Sean Mooney – Well...”Hacksaw” Jim Duggan is a very tough customer an-

Bobby Heenan – Ofcourse this man isnt worried you idiot! He's Perfect! Duggan is a cross-eyed flag waving bafoon who isnt fit to lace up Mr. Perfect's boots!

Sean Mooney – Thank you Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan, lets go back to the studio, take it away Gorilla...

Gorilla Monsoon – Thank you Sean Mooney and ya know Brain, I think you and Perfect might be alittle bit uptight about something...could it be that big world title tournament later this month? Does Mr. Perfect have his sights set on the big prize?

Bobby Heenan – We're not uptight Monsoon! Any wrestler worth a dime always has their eyes on the world title, why else would you be in this business?

Gorilla Monsoon – We'll find out later tonight when the bracket is released whether or not Mr. Perfect made the cut, meanwhile we have a very special treat for you wrestling fans out there. We're going to take to you Arena Mexico in Mexico City for the opening bout in a round robin tournament to determine who will represent CMLL in the WrestleMania VII world title tournament, the bout pits the rudo veteran Cien Caras against the colorful technico Mascara Sagrada, If you win your match you get 2 points, a draw gets 1 point, and a loss gets 0 points in the round robin contender tournament, lets go to Joey Styles and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

This match was a good back and fourth affair which showcased Cien Caras' rudo rule breaking and Mascara Sagrada's martial arts and high flying. The end came when Sagrada missed a running senton splash and Cien Caras hit his trademark Martinete

Winner - Cien Caras via Pinfall

      CURRENT CMLL CONTENDER TOURNAMENT STANDINGS
      Cien Caras 2 points
      Mascara Sagrada 0 points
      Konnan 0 points
      Canek 0 points

Bobby Heenan – What a contest! If this is what we have to look forward to from this new partnership then i can't wait! I especially like Caras, thats someone i'd love to manage

Gorilla Monsoon – I am not surprised one bit about that Brain, he certainly fits the mold and character of those who you choose to represent...

Bobby Heenan – I know, amazing athleticism and a will to do whatever is necessary to win!

Gorilla Monsoon – In other words cheat, With that victory Cien Caras gets 2 points in the round robin tournament, let's go to the ring for the debut of Jerry “The King” Lawler and his new talk show, The King's Court

Jerry Lawler – It's...well if I said it was wonderful to be here in Providence, Rhode Island i'd be lying! I thought once i got out of the south the teeth count would go up! Let me introduce my inaugural guest on The King's Court a man who's known for many things, most notable of which is that he wears a skirt, Rowdy Roddy Piper!

      [Piper enters]

Roddy Piper – Thank you very much for having me here Lawler, I always love to come to Providence and if you dont stop knockin these people i'm gunna start knockin out some of your teeth!

Jerry Lawler – Well that might be the 1st time i ever got threatened by a freak in a skirt

Roddy Piper – Ya know somethin Jerry...I hope i draw you in that big WrestleMania tournament. I'll give you a real welcome to the World Wrestling Federation, now i'm going to let you get back to your shift at Burger King

[Piper gets up to leave and Lawler attacks him from behind with the microphone and leaves Piper laying as we go back to the Studio and Gorilla Monsoon]

Gorilla Monsoon – Attacking Roddy Piper on your 1st night in the promotion doesnt seem like a very good idea Brain, that might be Lawler's last mistake.

Bobby Heenan – Jerry “The King” Lawler is not to be trifled with. Piper found that out and soon enough the whole WWF will too, he's the King of Memphis for a reason Monsoon.

Gorilla Monsoon – I'm not sure about that, I think Lawler will deeply regret his cowardly attack on the Hot Rod. Now lets go to the ring for your client, Mr. Perfect defending the Intercontinental championship against “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan

Duggan was using his power advantage and was well on his way to victory until Bobby Heenan tripped him up as he was going for his 3 point stance finish and Perfect connected with the Perfectplex to successfully defend his Intercontinental championship

Winner - and STILL Intercontinental champion Mr. Perfect

Bobby Heenan – What do you think of THAT Monsoon? That was absolutely perfect!

Gorilla Monsoon – If it werent for you tripping “Hacksaw” you very well could've been out of a meal ticket Brain

Bobby Heenan - Oh please, Mr. Perfect was never ever in any danger and only a fool would think that ham and egger humanoid had any chance of upsetting my client. He merely tripped on his clubbed feet.

Gorilla Monsoon – Tripped on his clubbed feet...you can't be serious Brain, and now I can't believe i'm saying this but lets go to a commercial for the new cologne Arrogance for men

[opens with the “Model” Rick Martel on a luxury Yacht being served a protein shake by a lovely young lady]

Rick Martel – Hmmm thank you gorgeous... million dollar yacht, beautiful women, living the life of luxury, it's all just another day in the life of “The Model”. If you wear my new scent; Arrogance for Men, you'll be sailing the high seas and burying your treasure in no time.

[fade back to the studio as she applies suntan oil to Martel]

Bobby Heenan – What a man! My goodness! I'd much rather be out there on that amazing boat than stuck here in this crummy studio with you, Monsoon...

Gorilla Monsoon – I wish you'd go out to sea as well Brain, Now lets go to Mean Gene Okerlund who is standing by with the “Macho King” Randy Savage, Gene?

Mean Gene Okerlund – Thank you Gorilla Monsoon as you noted i am here with the “Macho King” Randy Savage, Now, “Macho King” With the WWF title vacant, how do you feel about the WrestleMania VII tournament?

Randy Savage: Ooooh no, I dont like it one bit, no...that belt should be mine Okerlund. That no name chump Hulk Hogan stole it from me and never gave me a proper rematch, no. I'm the Macho King Okerlund! I should be presented that belt in a royal coronation, yeahhh...but it dont matter! I'll go through however many men i have to go through at WrestleMania and retake what's rightfully mine! Dig it! Oooooh Yeahhhh!
      [ walks off ]

Mean Gene Okerlund – What can i say, back to you Gorilla

Gorilla Monsoon – Thanks Gene, boy Savage seems determined to get that belt, Brain, who do you think poses his largest challenge to reclaiming the World Title?

Bobby Heenan – Oh I dunno... Mr. Perfect, Haku, Barbarian,

Gorilla Monsoon – Oh would you stop it, those are all your clients Brain. It's feature time here on Prime Time, this week's featured match up is for the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team championship and pits the Hart Foundation against the Legion of Doom, lets get to the action

In a hotly contested back and fourth match the Legion of Doom narrowly managed to win the WWF Tag Team championship when they connected on their dangerous Doomsday Device on Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart for the pinfall

Winners – and NEW World Wrestling Federation Tag Team champions, Road Warrior Animal, Road Warrior Hawk, the Legion of Doom

Gorilla Monsoon – And we have new tag champs and its the Legion of Doom, dethroning the Hart Foundation was no small feat, Brain. What do you think is next for both teams?

Bobby Heenan – I've been told that of the numerous teams hungry for those belts, Monsoon, some of them arent even currently in the World Wrestling Federation. The WWF Tag Team championship is the top tag team title in professional wrestling. For any team to earn an opportunity at those belts is a big accomplishment, but from what i've seen no team in the world is hungrier for that championship than Haku and the Barbarian.

Gorilla Monsoon – Why do I even bother asking anymore...Alright it's time to unveil the WrestleMania VII World Wrestling Federation heavyweight Championship tournament, are ya ready Brain? Lets show everyone.

In 1st round matchups you'll see the “Macho King” Randy Savage against the Texas Tornado, the Undertaker vs “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, the “Model” Rick Martel vs Shawn Michaels and Brain you're gunna love this matchup to finish the left side of the bracket, your client Mr. Perfect vs Bret “Hitman” Hart!

Bobby Heenan – WHAT?!?! He's the Intercontinental champion, Monsoon! He deserves a bye straight to the finals! You might as well just award him the belt, he's Perfect! Thats not fair! Get me Jack Tunney! Get me the board of directors! Get me the President of the United States! Mr. Perfect is Perfect! He shouldn't be competing in the 1st round!

Gorilla Monsoon – I think the “Hitman” will have a lot to say about how Perfect, Mr. Perfect really is and that should be a phenomenal contest. On the right side we have the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase against the Big Bossman, Sgt. Slaughter vs “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs The Mountie, and Jerry “The King” Lawler against the contender who wins the CMLL round robin tournament. Give me your pick Brain, and you cant say Mr. Perfect.

Bobby Heenan – If i cant name my client, Mr. Perfect then i'm not picking because i'll be wrong.

Gorilla Monsoon – Something tells me you'll be wrong anyway, Brain, for the record my pick is Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Thats it for Prime Time this week, we'll see you later this week for Wrestling Challenge, Superstars, and dont forget to check out CMLL on Galavision, sunday afternoons.

          [fade into studio]
Sean Mooney – Welcome to Superstars i'm your host Sean Mooney filling in for Vince McMahon, we have a wonderful program upcoming for all you fans and our 1st bout features Paul Roma and Hercules, Power and Glory in action

Power and Glory obliterated the team of Chris Walker and Barry Hardy and won following the Power-plex

Winners – Power and Glory via pinfall

          [fade back to studio]

Sean Mooney – Well that was certainly a display of brutality and from that brutality we go to the man who defines the word Arrogance, the “Model” Rick Martel.

Rick Martel uses his combination of technical prowess and speed to easily dispatch Jim Powers with the Boston Crab

Winner – Rick Martel via submission

          [back to studio]

Sean Mooney – Rick Martel looks to be in prime form for the WrestleMania VII tournament, I can only imagine how arrogant he'd be if he was the World Wrestling Federation champion, speaking of the big tournament our next match features one of the contestants and should be an incredible showcase of speed and athleticism

In an amazing match the Rockers beat the Orient Express and had every fan in attendance on their feet and on the edge of their seats. The Rockers won after Tanaka and Kato collided and Shawn Michaels hit a superkick for the pinfall. 4 stars

Winners – The Rockers via pinfall

[Sean Mooney is standing by in the studio]

Sean Mooney – That was a very exciting match, and I have more exiting news for you fans out there! Up next is a video for our newest debuting superstar “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert

[video fades in showing highlights of Eddie Gilbert in Memphis and finishes with a graphic that says EDDIE GILBERT coming at WRESTLEMANIA VII]

Sean Mooney – Wow I can't wait to see him action here in the World Wrestling Federation! Back to the action...

The Big Bossman and Greg “The Hammer' Valentine wrestled to a double count out after they couldnt make it back into the ring at the count of 10 and continued brawling at ringside. Following the decision they brawled all the way to the locker room until WWF officials Pat Patterson, Rene Goulet, and Chief Jay Strongbow managed to break it up.

          DOUBLE COUNT OUT

Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka kept momentum on his side by defeating Haku by pinfall after Haku knocked himself out on the exposed turnbuckle and Snuka landed his patented Superfly Splash

WINNER – Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka via pinfall

In match pitting strength vs strength, it was the “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith's technique and speed that made the difference when he defeated Dino Bravo following a Running Powerslam.

WINNER – the “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith

          [fade to the studio]
Sean Mooney – Now it is time for a very special main event, it is the 2nd match in the CMLL round robin contenders tournament and features 2 overwhelmingly popular wrestlers, Konnan against the legendary Canek, Canek holds victories over Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant and is no doubt one of the all time greatest in his country and worldwide.

In an electrifying contest between 2 mexican heros, the elder statesmen Canek defeated the younger superstar Konnan by pinfall after using his Canek Press backbreaker. Following the bout, the fans stood on their feet showering the CMLL superstars with cheers and admiration for a hard and clean fought bout. With this victory Canek moves into a tie with Cien Caras for 1st place in the CMLL tournament

          WINNER – Canek via pinfall

          [fade into studio]

Sean Mooney – Another tremendous match thanks to our new partnership with CMLL! Before we sign off we're going to show you the updated standings for the CMLL round robin contenders tournament

          Cien Caras 2 pts
          Canek 2 pts
          Mascara Sagrada 0 pts
          Konnan 0 pts

Sean Mooney – The next match up in the CMLL tournament will feature Mascara Sagrada against one of the men you just saw, Konnan in a match neither wrestler can afford to lose. You can see that this Sunday on CMLL on Galavision. See you next week on Superstars and make sure to tune into Wrestling Challenge and CMLL on Galavision.

Brother Love – That is exactly right Brother Model you are the pinnacle of manhood, When you do win that world title at WrestleMania VII will you please come back on my show?

Rey Misterio, Jr opens the show with an incredible display of high flying while picking up the victory over his rival Psicosis

Canek fresh off his opening win in the tournament defeats Pierroth in a 4 ¼ star match that featured Canek showcasing his combination of power, speed, and technique which was used to overcome the dastardly cheating of the rudo Pierroth

Villanos IV & V went to a double DQ with the rudo team of Pirata Morgan and Satanico when the official in charge of the action lost complete control and the bout descended into melee brawl which continued all the way to the dressing room

Los Hermanos Dinamita defeated Los Brazos when Cien Caras picked up the submission victory thanks to his powerful Bearhug. Caras came across looking very strong in the bout by managing to apply the Bearhug finisher to the rotund Brazo de Plata. As of now he looks to be the odds on favorite to win the tournament, due to his incredible strength and his brothers, Universo Dos Mil and Mascara Dos Mil surely having his back

The main event of the program featured the only 2 contenders in the tournament to not yet pick up a victory Konnan and Mascara Sagrada. With neither being able to afford a loss, Konnan went for broke on a dive and ended crashing into the guardrail ribs 1st which made the area easy pickings for Mascara Sagrada who used his Abdominal Stretch to pick up the victory. Konnan was gracious in defeat, shaking Sagrada's hand and admitting he was the better man on this evening.

                  Updated standings
