Milan - AC Milan has confirmed the parting of manager Carlo Ancelotti as he is set to take the vacant position with English side, Chelsea FC.
"I can confirm that Carlo has left Milan and we thank him for the tremendous years that he has given the team and the organization. But for the time being, I cannot confirm who the next manager will be, we are looking at different options right at the moment" said Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.
It has been reported that a shortlist has been compiled for the next AC Milan manager, which includes former Milan players Frank Rijkaard, Leonardo, current Russia national team head coach Guus Hiddink, and some say that newly retired Rossoneri legend Paolo Maldini has been approached by the club with the possibility of taking over.
Although no official word has been given on the situation, Maldini looks to be the more unlikely candidate to get the job as he has not expressed any desire to become a coach in the near future.
Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso spoke during an interview ahead of the team pre-season meeting about the current situation, and pleaded with the club to make a decision.
