Latest Loss Drops Villa To 18th, Lambert Feeling The Heat

An all to familiar scene for Villa fans

White Hart Lane- Winless since their opening day triumph over West Ham, Paul Lambert's Aston Villa were losers once again on Monday, dropping a convincing 3-0 decision to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The loss drops Villa into the drop zone for the first time all season with a quite unimpressive 1-2-5 record and just 5 points. Unwilling to make excuses, Lambert still believes in his squad, stating after the match that were "dealing with some early season adversity" and that he "fully expects them to rebound well." To be fair, Villa has not had the easiest of schedules in the early going with tilts against Everton, Newcastle, Manchester City, Spurs, and West Brom all in the rear view and a match upcoming next with 4th place Fulham, but the Premier League is an unforgiving place, and if you don't hold your own against the big boys you will find yourself looking up from the Championship and wondering what happened.

Re: Aston Villa: The Paul Lambert Era

First time I've ventured into this thread (and this part of the forum). This makes for an enthralling adventure to keep up with. I know you're considering a return to a set of custom CTT's which would mean this career mode being no more, but these results have been bang on with how Villa are fairing in the real world. Along with the Darren Bent sale and Rodrigo purchase it makes for an interesting series to keep up with. I would love to see how it turns out.

That said. If you're really feeling the need to return to those custom CTT's then do it. It's all about our own personal wants from the game, no one elses. I would suggest one thing first. I would play in EAS Match Day (with form turned off) as Aston Villa against three or four of the same teams with the CTT's plugged in (as input via the team management screen for a one off contest). Record the match facts and a match summary for each to then compare with those as played out with the default CTT's. That way your career mode and your dynasty are still intact to either delete or continue as the fates decide.

It would be great to have a dynasty of my own. If I ever start over I'll keep it in mind!

Also been enjoying the read and hope you continue. Surprised you did not bring in a few more players for more squad rotation, but really with the resources at hand, and compared with real life you are achieving similar results.

Also currently feeling the heat as a premier league manager having taken Carlisle from league 1 to the premier league, most of my players are ranked around 70 -74 and finding it really tough with about 15 points from 15 games, and a position of 16th. Having played career mode on fifa 12 they have certainly toughened up the quality in the premier league, although it has made for some great matches. My greatest triumph so far was a highly defensive 3-2 win at the emirates, Arsenal's defence as open in the game as it is in real life. Although I am confident the CTTs will improve the game, I am really enjoying my career at the moment and its certainly not too easy or hard, for me that is all that really matters, so if you are enjoying your career I would say continue! There is a long time till Fifa 14 is out, so plenty of time to key in the CTTS and reap the benefits.

It's been great so far, my latest win has given me hope, but it's going to be a long drawn out fight. Thanks for checking in!

Although the CTT's intrigue me mightily, I just don't want to give up on this, so I'm going to continue on as is(yay!). If sacked, I may choose to move on then, maybe. BTW, you should definitely do one, if for no reason but to be able to go back and relive your different CM's. I still go back on occasion and check in on my FIFA 12 CM's that I did dynasties on(Marseille, Arsenal, Liverpool)

Because I'm using a strict board, I only had about £9 million pounds to start, take away two for a good scout and I'm left with just seven, then Bent wanted out so I had to sell him(for £13.5, £8 of which I was given to reinvest) leaving me in dire need of a top striker(which do not come cheap LOL). Come January I may look to "trim the fat" as they say, selling some higher waged veterans like Dunne, Hutton, maybe a few others.

Villa Prevail In Rain Soaked Affair At Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage- Win-less since their opening match of the season and languishing in the drop zone, Aston Villa were in dire need of a victory, and thanks to some fantastic keeping by Shay Given and a critical second half goal by new boy Rodrigo, that's exactly what they got, shocking 4th in the table Fulham with a 2-1 result at rain soaked Craven Cottage. The victory moves Villa safely out of the relegation zone as they prepare for a midweek Cup tie back at the Etihad before finally returning home for a clash with Norwich City.

Re: Aston Villa: The Paul Lambert Era

It is with a large amount of regret that I have to announce the death of this. I've recently tried using Krebstar's CTT's again and the improvements in play are so drastic that it's just about impossible to go back to regular tactics now. For those f you who have yet to try them, do yourself a favor and put the work in, it's absolutely worth it.
