Just two weeks ago Pescara looked as if they were going to run away with Serie B. Don't look now, but after a string of bad performances by them, Reggina and Parma have moved within striking distance of the top spor in the league. Not to be overlooked, Cesena and Siena are making their own case for promotion as well. Only 5 games remain, but it is sure to come down to the wire as Pescara is moving the wrong way and the other 4 teams behind them are trying to climb the mountain over them.

      Summary:
Reggina has been riding high for the month of April and would love to finish the month off with a win at Cittadella. Reggina would make sure to get pressure early as Campagnacci and Rizzo led the charge up front. In the 39' minute they would finally convert a goal on a Campagnacci rebound off of a shot off the post by Rizzo. Allen would get involved as well dribbling through the opposing side with a nice step over and drilling a shot past the keeper in the 47'. Reggina would take the win and take sole control of first place.

        Summary:
Newly anointed first place Reggina returned home to face lowly Empoli who gave them a tougher time than expected. Empoli came out in a defensive shell, dropping their midfield back and daring Reggina to score on them. Their lone shot on goal came at the beginning of the came on a Crutiono shot over the bar. Other than that, Reggina controlled possession throughout for a staggering 69% of the game. Even though Reggina pushed forward, they just couldn't seem to convert any shot into goals. After regrouping for the second half, Reggina began their attack a different way. CM Armellino pushed the ball forward, and both attacking midfielders sprinted up the wings. He had an optioned long ball and found Camapgnacci on the long lob pass up the wing. The plan worked and it won Reggina a corner kick. The cross would come in front of the net and Lucioni would put it home for the goal in the 50'. Reggina would hold on to the lead easily as Empoli never really got anything going.

          Summary:
Can they run the table? That is the question on everyone's lips as Reggina wins another won in grand fashion at Novara. Allen would start things off in the 12' on a counter sprint up the wing. He then spun inside and sent in a right footed bomb for the goal. Next Allen would show off the aerial attack, jumping above the competition and heading home a cross from Rizzo. Rizzo would supply another goal in the second half to Rizzato. Rizzato would volley home the ball in midair for a beautiful strike that would put them up 3-0. With all this offensive explosion, the real heroes of the game is the backline led by Camilleri and Lucioni. They have provided the strength to deny opponents the ball and lead counter attacks with great passing and positioning. Reggina rattles off another victory, 3-0. Only 2 games remain in the season and Reggina controls their own destiny.

United States World Cup Roster Announced
            by Dave Seville

The USMNT World Cup Roster is very controversial this year as notable names Tim Howard and Landon Donovan have been left off the team this year. The team is clearly taking on a more youthful persona as youngsters such as Shea, Adu, and Gatt have made the squad. We will break down each of the positions below.

            Goalkeepers
            Guzan, Johnson, Kennedy

The expected starter of this group is Brad Guzan who is clearly the most experienced of the keepers. This will be a huge weakness for team as they head to Rio as Guzan is a tremendous step down from Howard in goal. However, Howard is older and his reflexes weren't as good as they once were so we will have to see if this was the right move this squad. The other possibility here would be Kennedy who got several starts this year in friendly matches, but those performances were largely uninspiring.

            Defenders
Chandler, Ream, Gonzalez, Johnson, Onyewu, Cameron, Pearce

The leader of this group is Timothy Chandler who has really grown his game over the past couple years. He has been a strong performer in freindly matches and will be the anchor of this group in the World Cup. Keep an eye on Omar Gonzalez to be an impact player. He has the big body that Klinsmann likes on his back lines and has really stepped up in the last few matches.

            Midfielders
Bradley, Gatt, Dempsey, Shea, Alonso, Holden, Corona, Williams, Adu

Traditionally a strength for the United States, this years group will be led by the captain of the team Michael Bradley. He will be the new face of this years team as Landon Donovan's time has come to an end. The center defensive midfielder will look to push those in front of him forward. Look for one of those players to be the always dangerous Clint Dempsey who will look to rack up several goals in the tournament. Somewhat surprising is the addition of Freddy Adu, a winger who has been stellar in the past for the U23 squad. Look for him to add some much needed speed in the midfield.

            Forwards
            Allen, Altidore, Sapong, Bruin

This one on of the most hotly contested battles on the team this year with many deserving candidates eligible to play up front. Star striker Jozy Alitdore will look for help from one of these other forwards to put much needed goals on the board. Will Bruin has been a hot name recently. Look for Bruin to be a name that is called often in Rio. The youngest player on the team, 20 year old Alvin Allen, may also be the most famous due to his NBA All Star brother Al Allen III, but don't let that distract you. This kid is talented in his own right and has produced on the offensive side of the ball in the few friendlies he has played in for the team.

That sums up the US Men National Team roster this year. In our next entry we will analyse the individual groups. Stay tuned to Extra Time for your in depth up to date US soccer news.

I don't know. Both of my manager modes are English teams so this one may end up there, but we'll just have to see where the story takes Alvin.

                  Summary:
The rowdy home fans were screaming for annihilation and a blowout is what they got from their side as Reggina mopped the floor with La Spezia. La Spezia's keeper Russo tried to keep them in it as best he could, but no keeper can handle 15 shots and expect to be able to stop them all. Allen would score a tremendous goal in the 40' on a spin around a defender and a bendering right footer in the corner for the first goal. Campagnacci would add another in the 67' for the 2-0 win, but the real story of this game was the defense. Their consistent play has really bolstered this winning streak. The back line allowed 0 shots for the entire 90 minutes. That was really a testament to the leadership of Camilleri and how well they held off the attacks of strikers Lehmann and Sansorini all game. But sadly, this game was not without bad news as Lucioni and D'Alessandro were both hurt during the game and had to leave. It looks as if Lucioni's year is over as he broke his ankle. D'Alessandro will try to make it back for the last game of the year with a shoulder contusion, but with the game against Siena being only 7 days away we don't know if it will be enough time for him to be ready to start. It was a good win for Reggina in their final home game. The season will come down to this final game. With a win, they will take the Serie B crown.

                    Championship

                    Who will win?

Today will mark the forty second and final game of the season. It has been a long, grinding season, but today a champion will be crowned in Serie B. All three teams that are eligible have already clinched promotion, but all of them would love to take home the league title as well. Pescara will take on Crotone at home, and Parma will head to Novara for their final match of the season.

None have a tougher opponent than Reggina as they will face a bitter Siena side that up until a couple week ago were right in the think of the promotion race as well. They will look to play spoiler as they host a red hot Reggina side that only need this win to take home the Serie B crown.

                    Summary:
Reggina felt the thrill of victory, only to have it utterly taken away in defeat. Alvin Allen put Reggina on his back, carrying them as far as he could, but in the end it was Siena who was able to push forward and snatch victory at the end of the match. We pick up the game in the second half as Siena was up 1-0 on a 45' goal scored by Bolzoni. Allen, Ceravolo, and Campagnacci pushed forward. The passing was accurate as Allen receive a ball inside and flowed seamless past the defenders for a right footed shot. The ball was deflected off of Dellafiore but luck was on Reggina's side as the ball rolled into the net for the goal. Siena would push back as Reginaldo would push his side forward. Ely would do his best in Lucioni's absence, poking the ball away and leading a counter attack. He sent a long ball forward that would find Allen on a breakaway in the 79'. The keeper snuck out a bit, but Allen sent in a left footed rocket from outside the box that hit home for what looked like was the game winner. Reggina players got a little to confident, because on the restart Siena came right back down the pitch. Ely tried to clear the ball, but Larrondo jumped in front of it at point blank range. He would send it in past Carvollo for the game tying goal. A dejected Reggina side tried to eek out a draw, but Siena tasted blood in the water. In the 87' they would pounce, as Larrondo would bring it up the wing and cross it into the box for the game winning volley by Reginaldo. Reggina would lose the game in heart wrenching fashion 3-2. They would have to await the results of the other two matches to see if they would hold on to win the title.

Rotherham United I took from League 2 to the Premier League. I just started a new one with Burton Albion. I like taking bad teams and making them better with homegrown scouted players to make them a contender.

In a final twist heading into the final game day, third place Parma was the only one of the top three teams to win. This propelled them to the top spot and the league title. A job well done by Parma on a strong finish for the title. They will be joined in Serie A by Reggina and Pescara.

Player of the Year: Alvin Allen - Reggina

The Player of the Year for Serie B is Alvin Allen of Reggina. Allen missed part of the season due to injury, but still managed to win the golden boot with 29 goals and added 8 assists as well to propel Reggina to Serie A for the first time since 2009. Congratulations on a job well done and a successful season for the young American striker.

Thank you. It feels good. Stinks that Allen didn't get the title though. Now its on to the World Cup!

I arrived in Rio full of excitement and vigor. This was what I had trained for. The World Cup pits the best players in the world against each other draped in our home countries colors. There was a huge sense of pride when I donned the USA jersey, and here I would be putting it on for the world’s greatest competition.
It is such an odd feeling when your dreams and visions of something are quickly dashed by reality. The World Cup was a circus and we were the performers. Media followed the team endlessly. I had interviews with tons of different outlets asking me the same questions repeatedly. Marketing representatives and business leeches would pitch the next greatest idea and tell you why you needed to endorse it. Fans were everywhere constantly asking for autographs and pictures. The frenzy had me at full tilt and I was utterly overwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, it was nice to be noticed and recognized, but I had no idea of my popularity until I reached Rio de Janeiro. When I finally reached the team hotel I was exhausted. After all of the publicity garnering activities for the day, it would be nice to get in some practice with the guys and actually get out on the pitch and play.
I checked into my room and got changed. It was time to head into town to have my meeting with Theo, who was in town for the grand spectacle. I hopped a cap and headed to Barra da Tijuca, the borough where Theo had his mansion. The opulent exterior with the exotic plant life and gigantic columns was put to shame by the unimaginable interior. The formal foyer was laid in Theo’s favored marble floor and it led back directly to a hallway that ran into a huge open doorway that led out onto the lush back patio area. I followed this to a stone pathway that wound through a miniature jungle parallel to the house, and at the end I found a gigantic in-ground pool full of several scantily clad women. A two tiered deck rested against the pool, with music blaring loudly and a full bar and DJ kept the party going as about 30 people danced and chatted in the party atmosphere. I looked on the upper level and there was Theo laughing along with Vinny and some others I didn’t recognize. I walked up the stairs to meet with them.
“Alvin!” laughed Theo. “Welcome to my home away from home. We are a long way away from Chicago now, eh?”
“And Italy, I may add,” Vinny grinned evilly, “I’m growing extremely partial to Brazil.”
I sighed, “What’s going on guys? You didn’t call me all the way out here for drinks.”
Theo gave a look to one of his goons and he cleared the deck area of the others except for him, Vinny, and another woman. She looked as if she was a bit older and slight of build, but it was hard to tell as she was in pretty decent shape. Her face was a bit aged, but it was hard to tell over those large sunglasses and sunhat she had on that concealed most of her features. I must have given away my studying of her as Vinny spoke up.
“This lovely lady is Madam Apuzzo who will also be joining our meeting.” She nodded towards my direction.
                                “Hello miss,” I uttered.
“So, where is your business partner?” Theo asked.
                                “Excuse me?” I said.
“Stop playing games, Alvin,” Theo said seriously. “The note you gave Vinny.”
                                “I’m sorry…” I muttered confused.
Vinny frowned, “Alvin, the note had this address on it. We figured it was code for Leo to meet with us at Theo’s estate.”
I looked puzzled, “The note had Theo’s…” Suddenly my cell phone rang. I picked up.
“Hello?” I said. “How did you…, ok hold on.” I put the phone on speaker.
“Hello Theo, Vinny, Madame,” Leo spoke from my cell phone. “Let’s talk business.”
