Re: AFC Ajax Dynasty - Smokin' with Red Dave
FRANK DE BOER REPLACED BY SELF PROCLAIMED ENIGMA RED DAVE
Following the departure of Frank De Boer yesterday afternoon, AFC Ajax were quick in finding a replacement. Step forward the 'self proclaimed enigma' that is Red Dave. The twenty four year old from Pittsburgh is certainly a surprise replacement for De Boer, who won four Eredivisie titles in his time with the Dutch side.
Red Dave has no playing experience whilst his only managerial experience came in a short term coaching role with the youth team of MLS team DC United where he was fired for bad timekeeping. However the Ajax hierarchy certainly saw something in the young rookie coach to warrant handing him a two year deal, and the keys to one of Europe's most historic clubs.
Here we look at some of Red Dave's answers during his first press conference:
(When asked about why he chose Ajax as his first role in management)
Man, the history and model of the club is something I can deal/work with. I'm used to working on a budget and creating wonderful things out of very little. I have visited Amsterdam a few times and can't get enough of the coffee and the people. I literally spent most of time drinking coffee and talking.
(When asked about his playing style, which a former DC United youth player described as 'suicidal')
You need guts to commit suicide, and a heart to feel suicidal. Therefore my team will have heart and guts. The game was designed to play on the floor, if I want to play in the air I would manage Quidditch.
(When asked about the young talent in the squad)
There is so much, like being in a sweet shop and thinking 'I don't know where to start'. I will work with the young guys and try to work all of them into the rotations.Attached FilesLast edited by Tekkonkinkreet; 03-09-2016, 03:38 PM. -

RED DAVE BRINGS IN TWO ASSISTANTS
With Pre Season training back underway, new AFC Ajax manager Red Dave today announced his two assistants for the upcoming season. Joining him on the dugout will be Purple Bill and Greeny Norb, both whom worked with Dave at DC United.
'Together we are three Masketeers. We are brothers, our shame brought us together and now we are a group capable of producing magic. The fans shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, unless it is The Princess Bride by Williams Goldmans.'
Is this the future of Ajax?Last edited by Tekkonkinkreet; 03-09-2016, 03:49 PM.Comment

Thanks. Had to add the realism to the job otherwise it's pointless. Developing the youth squad is where 90% of our players need to come from.Comment

Re: AFC Ajax Dynasty - Smokin' with Red Dave
Awesome to see someone having a career in the Eredivisie! I'm a Heerenveen fan myself (play Sinkgraven!) and like Dutch football a lot. Though I have a FIFA career as Norwich right now since I play Football Manager as Heerenveen (nice to have the real youth players as well, since it's such a huge part of how Dutch clubs are managed). Will be following (if not always commenting). Good luck!Comment

RED DAVE UNHAPPY WITH EUROPEAN INTERNATIONAL CUP EXIT
What am I seeing? A badger?
Yes it may only be pre season, but new Ajax manager Red Dave clearly feels his side need to show a greater level of performance to meet the targets set for this season.
Based in Manchester in the European International Cup they were drawn in a group with UD Las palmas, Sampdoria and Watford. The opening match against Sampdoria was a slow encounter which game to life when Abdelhak Nouri beat two defenders to score. However from then on Ajax seemed far too content to keep possession and were undone in the final minute when substitute Cassani fired home at the second attempt. Final score 1-1.
Next up was Watford, recently promoted to the Premier League. This was our first taste of the 'suicidal' element that some have mentioned in reference to Red Dave's playing style. After a goalless first half Ajax made the breakthrough when Anwar El Ghazi wriggled free to finish past Gomes. Nine minutes later however and Watford were level. Jasper Cillessen caught on the ball by Ikechi Anya who equalised. Ajax pressed and with ten minutes left were awarded a penalty when Ekstrand chopped down Nemanja Gudelj. The defender was shown a red card before captain Davy Klaasen attempted chip was straight at a waiting Gomes. Two moments of calamity surely didn't do much to change people's opinions on Red Dave's style. Final score 1-1.
Finally a match up against Las Palmas, and surely a win to go through to the Semi-Finals. The Donny van de Beek striker experiment was in full effect when the youngster tapped home on the half hour mark. However yet again Ajax lost concentration in the second half and conceded twice to bring an abrupt end to their pre season. Firstly Roque fired in via the post before Willian Jose converted from the spot following an alleged handball. Final score 1-2.
RED DAVE'S COMMENTS: This isn't the first to one, otherwise we win all three games. The team was rotated heavily before and during matches but in truth we did enough in all the games to win. The fact of the matter is our concentration needs to improve in order to win matches consistently. Yes, being in Manchester is an excuse, but not one I am willing to accept.
BRIEF HIGHLIGHTS BELOW
STONER SCOUTS REPORT
Put it out bro...
Whoa, not much to report on man. The window is closed which means it is even more hazy. I took a visit to Heerenveen and Rotterdam to check out two dudes and enjoy their coffee. Back on Amsterdam soil (where the good stuff grows) and we have a new kid in the youth team. He's 15 (so none for him) and a Belgian winger. Oh yeah his name, Robbie Haemhouts. Peace and Pretzels.Last edited by Tekkonkinkreet; 03-09-2016, 03:54 PM.Comment
