October 4th 2019, After 3 and a half years back in WWE, Shane McMahon was fired after losing a big ladder match to Kevin Owens and officially ending Shane's time in WWE.
Now, it has been announced that in his exit from WWE, Shane worked out a deal to give up any stake he had in WWE, and in return he was given the rights to the name and branding of WCW the company he once owned.
In a statement Shane made his intentions clear:
"I plan to take WCW, and truly build from the ground up, not using my name to attract stars right away, not calling in favors from my past... this relaunch of WCW will begin with 6 superstars most of you have probably never heard of, our first show will take place in a gymnasium, and I want to start this truly from the bottom, and one day be able to say that when people think of the McMahon name, they think of WCW first, and WWE second."
