Sucks to hear about the blown engine at Martinsville, but I'm excited to see Steve run the Busch race at Talladega! Are any other Cup guys running that race?Comment

DALE EARNHARDT JR. WINS BUSCH SERIES RACE AT TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was able to show that Dale Earnhardt, Inc. still is the team to beat on restrictor plate tracks. His ACDelco Chevrolet was able to lead the draft, push in the draft and pass at will. He was able to hold off a last lap charge by Jason Keller and Steve Fulton who had drafted together from 15th place over the last bit of the race. The Fords would come up just short though.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.: I think if there was one more lap those Fords would have been able to get by me. They had a head of steam coming but they just ran out of time. We will take the win though!
Ed Berrier had a great run in his unsponsored #77 PRW Racing Ford. It was his career best run and hopefully the team can get some sponsorship after their solid performance today.

The Busch Series will be in New Hampshire next weekend while the Winston Cup Series heads out west to California Speedway. We hope to see you there!

FULTON MOTORSPORTS WEEKLY RECAP
Talladega, AL | Busch Series
START: 32nd | FINISH: 4th
We were excited to be running our first Busch Series event of the season with our own team. The car was fast in the draft and we knew if we avoided trouble we should be able to have a good day. We have sponsors to please so we have to keep that in the back of our minds on raceday.
We weren't that quick in qualifying but still qualified 32nd which was comfortably in the show. I think there were only 43 entries anyway so we were guaranteed a starting spot. Happy Hour was spent making sure the engine temps stayed good in the draft for a long run. We were ready to race!
The race was your normal restrictor plate race. We were able to draft with Jason Keller from about 15th position up to have a shot for the lead on the last lap. I was content on pushing Keller to the front and with a few more laps I think we would have had something for the #3 car.
We had a great run and look forward to our next Busch Series race at Charlotte in a couple of weeks. We have a full slate scheduled for Charlotte. We will be racing the ARCA race, The Winston Open, The Busch race and the Winston Cup race. It should be a good 2 weeks of racing!

Re: The Career Of Steve Fulton(Nascar Racing 2002 Season) 2nd Attempt
Yeah, sometimes I think it's random engine failures. I did see the temps were high so I think it was my bad on the setup and not checking the weather correctly.
We will be sure from now on to watch the air tempeture before the race.Comment

KENNY IRWIN JR. WINS HIS FIRST EVER WINSTON CUP RACE AT TALLADEGA
The NASCAR Winston Cup Series was back on a restrictor plate track for the first time since the Daytona 500. Mr. Restrictor Plate himself Dale Earnhardt took the pole Friday afternoon in Bud Pole qualifying. We know starting position doesn't mean much at these big tracks but starting up front sure doensn't hurt your chances.
The field was divided into two distinct packs when Bill Elliott blew his engine and some drivers had to take evasive action and lost the main draft. Steve Fulton led the most laps in a strong run bud faded late with blown tire with 2 laps to go. This opened the door for Kenny Irwin Jr. to steal the Cinderella story from Fulton and make it his own as he won for the first time in Winston Cup in just his 14th career start.
He was obviously the 'Rookie Of The Race' as well and Steve Park was also able to get a top-10 with his 9th place run in his DEI Chevrolet. There were no cautions and one car was in the garage at the end of the race with Bill Elliott taking a DNF.

Next week the Winston Cup Series heads out west to California for the California 500 presented by NAPA. Last years race was won by Dale Jarrett. Hope to see you there!

BAHARI RACING WEEKLY RECAP
Talladega, AL | Race 9/33
START: 22nd | FINISH: 41st
After running 4th in the Busch Series race on Saturday we felt really good about our chances in the Winston Cup race. We qualified 22nd on Friday but were really good in the draft just like at Daytona so we weren't concerned much just wanted to make sure the engine would be good after the fiasco at Martinsville.
We had a very good race and climbed to the lead in just 15 laps and would lead off and on the rest of the day and lead the most laps as well. We really thought we had a chance to win this race and were going to finish in the top-5 for sure. We were running 4th with 2 to go on the outside line when the right front tire cut down and we smacked the wall. We lost the lead draft and were overtaken by the second pack as we limped home to a 41st place finish. Sometimes luck just isn't on your side but opportunities to win a race don't knock on your door often.
Oh well, we have to regroup and look at the positives. We are locked in next week at California where I had a DNQ last year so we will automatically have better race this year! Hope to see everyone at California and then we come home for two weeks for 4 races at Charlotte! ARCA, The Winston, Busch Series and Winston Cup. Really looking forward to it.
------------------------
If you look closely in the picture you can see the shower of sparks coming from beneath my car as the car headed towards the wall when the tire came apart.

Oh man, that's heartbreaking to suffer a blown tire at that point. Really thought that was a big opportunity for Steve to get that first win!Comment

Re: The Career Of Steve Fulton(Nascar Racing 2002 Season) 2nd Attempt
I knew the setup wore the tires faster than normal but never have I had a tire blow at Daytona or Talladega just from wear. I've ran over debris and had them go but not from wear. It was a first, but I would say I was hard on the tires going high and low passing. It was a fun race until then.Comment
