"WCW officials have decided, to represent this new era, and this new year, effective immediately, ALL WCW Championships are vacated, and we will see over the coming weeks who steps up and takes these opportunities.

Also, WCW has reinvested in the future, putting a lot of money into their developmental program known as "The Powerplant", and has sent some known WCW faces back to hone their craft, as well as sign some new talent to develop who will debut in the coming months.

But WCW also knows the history of its company is important, so expect to see some familiar faces pop up going forward, atleast in the short term"

Match Background: This will be a triangle bout. Harlem Heat are one of the most experienced teams in the promotion. Steiner Brothers are one of the most experienced teams in the promotion. Dusty and Rhodes are teaming up as The Rhodes for the first time tonight.

The Match: Poppa Pump receives some punishment by Dusty Rhodes but with that horrid offense, we're the only ones truly being punished. Scott Steiner takes a right hand to the temple from Dusty. Dusty tags out to Booker T. Flying shoulder tackle by Booker sends Poppa Pump CRASHING to the mat. Hooks the leg for a two count. Poppa Pump counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Tag between Scott Steiner and Rick Steiner. Steiner Brothers hook up Booker, then hit a double suplex. Tag between Booker T and Stevie Ray. Ray strikes away at Rick Steiner, not doing much damage at all. Powerslam from Stevie Ray on Steiner. Tag between Rick Steiner and Dustin Rhodes. Lance Storm charges, Sanders moves, and the referee is knocked silly! Mike Sanders plants Storm with an EXPLODAH~! suplex. Hooks the leg, but the referee is still out! Storm blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! THERE IT IS! A legdrop to the BACK OF THE HEAD! I swear, that makes any match just a little bit better. I don't mind telling you that every time I see it, that's for sure. SUPER frankensteiner on Sanders, who hit hard and is loopy as a result. There's a two count on the pin. Springboard dropkick from Lance Storm. Nicely done. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Sanders kicks Lance Storm in the gut to reverse the momentum. Goldberg counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Sting \ Goldberg whip Flair into the ropes and hit a double backdrop. High Angle DDT by Sting just SPIKES Ric Flair down! A weak headbutt on Sting by Goldberg causes nothing but pain for both. Sting pulls a mule kick out of nowhere. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on Ric Flair by Sting. Remember when that was a legit finish? Tonight, WCW wants to present a historic show for the first exclusive Cruiserweight edition of Thunder. So tonight we will see 4 singles matches take place, the winners of those matches will go on to the main event to face off in a 4 way elimination match to win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

Billy Kidman is backstage. Why Billy Kidman? Oh, I've got an idea! Let's hire someone with even LESS charisma that they could have interviewed! He wanted to rip into Chavo Guerrero Jr.. Not literally, of course. That would just be nasty. Instead, this was a good way to build up to an eventual match.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs Billy Kidman.

Match Background: None.

The Match: Chavo Guerrero Jr. strikes Kidman. Kidman counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Spinning back kick from Billy Kidman. The ref is bumped, as goes down after accidentally getting caught by an elbow to the face. Tor-NADO DDT from Billy Kidman, Chavo got planted! Pinfall attempt, but the ref is out and can't count to three! Chavo flips out of a Billy Kidman bodyslam attempt. Hard back suplex on Kidman. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. GORGEOUS Spinning bulldog in the corner and Kidman is down. There's a two count on the pin. Back heel kick off the second rope and Kidman goes flying! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Kidman reverses a waistlock. Flying cross body off the top rope! Pin, but Chavo is out just before the three count. Chavo blocks a kick from Billy Kidman. Kidman scores with a forearm, sending Chavo down into the corner. The referee pulls Billy Kidman away to get the break. Wait! Chavo has pulled something out of his tights. Billy Kidman walks over...and gets floored by a punch! 1....2....3! The referee never saw the brass knuckles! Chavo Guerrero Jr. remains in the ring, celebrating the victory.

The Match: Rey Misterio Jr. kicks the leg, knocks Liger down, and goes to work on it. Rey Jr. hits a HARD spinning kick to the jaw. Rey Misterio Jr. hits a rolling kick on Liger. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his ****ty execution of it. Rey Misterio Jr. hits a rolling kick on Liger. Flying elbow from Rey Misterio Jr. connects. Sinister Minister has climbed up onto the apron! Rey Jr. turns...and falls for the distraction! Jushin Thunder Liger runs at Rey Jr. from behind...but misses! Jushin Thunder Liger collides with Sinister Minister! Jushin Thunder Liger can barely stand. Here it comes - Flying Hurricanrana. 1....2...3, it's finished. Rey Misterio Jr. fights back, and has soon sent both Jushin Thunder Liger and Sinister Minister into retreat.

The Match: Brian Adams takes a right hand to the temple from Hawk. Road Warrior Hawk DDTs Adams, but it just looked terrible. Hooks the leg for a two count. Tag to Road Warrior Animal. Road Warriors hook up Adams, then hit a double suplex. Road Warrior Animal with a badly-executed spinning neckbreaker on Adams. One more performed that badly and this match will end on a bad note, if you get my drift. There's a two count on the pin. Wack kick from Animal. Adams counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! Flapjack from Adams on Animal. Tag to Bryan Clarke. Big kick from Clarke staggers Animal but that's about it. Big clothesline from Clarke. Animal ducks a wild right hand. Tag to Road Warrior Hawk. Weak bodyslam by Hawk. Road Warrior Hawk scores with a crappy looking standing spinebuster. Could have been done a hell of a lot better though. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Hawk strikes away at Bryan Clarke, not doing much damage at all. Bryan Clarke fights out of a grapple. Bryan Clarke DDTs Hawk, but it just looked terrible. Road Warrior Hawk is all alone...High Times!! 1....2....3! KroniK remain in the ring, celebrating their victory.

Big dropkick by Ric Flair, who got a ton of air on the move. Sting takes a back suplex. Sting counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. BAAACK Body drop by Flair gets a bit of a pop from the crowd. Sting scores with a big spinebuster. Ric Flair gets knocked to the ground by Sting. Here it comes...Scorpion Deathlock! Ric Flair taps! Sting goes into the crowd, where he celebrates his victory

Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. There's a two count on the pin. Malenko counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Outsiders whip Road Dogg into the corner. Scott Hall whips Kevin Nash in for a hard clothesline to follow-up. Running clothesline from Kevin Nash was actually MIGHTY sloppy. Road Dogg counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Running clothesline from Road Dogg was actually MIGHTY sloppy. Tag to Billy Gunn. Billy Gunn hits a right hand on Kevin Nash. Billy DDTs Kevin Nash. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Nash gets splashed in the corner. Tag between Billy Gunn and X-Pac. X-Pac kicks the leg, knocks Nash down, and goes to work on it. Second rope flying axe handle, Nash goes down. One day, X-Pac might even consider coming off the top with that. You know...for more impact and stuff. X-Pac gets taken down out of nowhere! Nash tags out to Hulk Hogan. Punch by Hogan, missing X-Pac COMPLETELY. I'm just glad thatX-Pac didn't sell it. Tag between X-Pac and Road Dogg. Road Dogg hits a right hand on Hulk Hogan and follows it up with a couple more. Hogan kicks Road Dogg in the gut to reverse the momentum. Road Dogg scores with a forearm, sending Hogan down into the corner. The referee pulls Road Dogg away to get the break. Wait! Hogan has pulled something out of his tights. Road Dogg walks over...and gets floored by a punch! 1....2....3! The referee never saw the brass knuckles!

The Match: Randy Savage strikes Booker T with a hard blow. Savage hits a piledriver on Booker T. I know I wouldn't let someone that bad give me a piledriver. Covers for a quick two count. Booker backdrops Randy Savage out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Booker T. Booker T hits some punches. How generic. Booker T with a spinning neckbreaker on Savage. There's a two count on the pin. Massive lariat! Stan Hansen would approve. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Fallaway slam by Booker T puts down Randy Savage. Randy Savage powers out of a Booker T headlock. Big clothesline from Savage. There's a two count on the pin. Randy Savage scores with a crappy looking standing spinebuster. Could have been done a hell of a lot better though. Pin, but Booker is out just before the three count. Randy Savage strikes Booker T with a hard blow. Booker receives some punishment by Randy Savage but with that horrid offense, we're the only ones truly being punished. Savage drops an elbow...but Booker T moves out of the way. Booker slams Randy Savage down and motions to the crowd. Brutal sit out powerbomb on Savage! Randy Savage can barely stand. Book End! 1....2....3. Booker T climbs each turnbuckle in turn, working the crowd as he celebrates his victory

Kevin Nash pins Dusty. Nash and Hall are putting the boots to Dusty Rhodes! Dustin Rhodes comes running down the aisle with a chair! He slides in, sending Outsiders running for cover. Dustin Rhodes saved Dusty from a major beating.

Dustin Rhodes slams Nash, who rolls onto his stomach. What is Kevin Nash doing? Dustin Rhodes picks him up and signals for a powerbomb. He raises Nash up...but then falls backward, getting crushed by his opponent in the process! Kevin Nash is on top! 1....2....3! Looking at the replay, it appears that Nash had taken a chain out of his tights and wrapped it around his fist! Dustin Rhodes must have been punched with that chain while in mid-powerbomb! What a cheap shot! Outsiders go into the crowd, where they celebrate their win.

Tammy Sytch is backstage with Chris Candido. If it were up to me, i'd let Candido do his own interviews, he is just as good, if not better a talker than Tammy Sytch. Tammy Sytch was out there to hype a match for Candido against Billy Kidman.

Billy Kidman has Chris Candido down on the canvas and is ascending the corner. Shooting Star Press!!! 1....2....3!! It's all over. Candido \ Tammy are beating down on Billy Kidman! The music of Torrie Wilson hits, and she comes running down the aisle into the ring. Candido and Tammy bail out of the ring, leaving Billy Kidman down in the ring. Torrie Wilson may have saved Billy Kidman from a brutal beating.

Rey Misterio Jr. comes running out, but falls prey to a vicious chair shot from Jushin Thunder Liger, who had been hiding in the wings. Liger continues the beating as Sinister Minister walks down to get some shots in. Rey Misterio Jr. got suckered in.

Match Background: Dean Malenko is the reigning WCW United States champion, and has been since 28 January 2001.

The Match: Dean Malenko kicks the leg, knocks Chavo down, and goes to work on it. Chavo flips out of a Dean Malenko bodyslam attempt. Chavo Guerrero Jr. kicks the leg, knocks Malenko down, and goes to work on it. Dean Malenko charges, Chavo moves, and the referee is knocked silly! Springboard dropkick from Chavo Guerrero Jr.. Nicely done. Pinfall attempt, but the ref is out and can't count to three! Dean Malenko once again takes the advantage after blocking a few punches and connecting with some forearms. Malenko hits a dropkick on Chavo Guerrero Jr. and gets right back up. Spinning bulldog in the corner and Chavo is down! Hooks the leg for a two count. Back heel kick off the second rope, Chavo goes down. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Chavo Guerrero Jr. reverses a hip toss. VICIOUS lightning kick by Chavo on Malenko. Pin, but Malenko is out just before the three count. Chavo drops an elbow...but Dean Malenko moves out of the way. Dean Malenko floors Chavo Guerrero Jr..
