January 1st 2001
Speculation has been growing for months of the financial troubles of WCW, once on top of the wrestling world, the company is now near closing the door, and even some rumors that its biggest rival WWE has been circling for an opportunity to buy out its competitor.
BUT, as the world brings in the new year, it also brings in new opportunities and there are reports that 2 investors have stepped up and purchased WCW, not just the library, or the branding, but everything and are committed to reigniting the once great company not just back to its former glory but to new heights never imagined.
Now no names have been revealed to who these 2 individuals are, but word has been put out that on the first Nitro of the new year, one of the two investors will open the show, and the other will be there to close the show.
Also in a move to help create more opportunities, these investors have announced that Thunder on Tuesday's will now be an exclusive Cruiserweight show. Now to be clear, cruiserweights can still appear on Nitro, but Thursday's show will be exclusive for them to showcase what they can do.
So January 1st 2001, tune into TNT at Primetime to see the beginning of the rise from ashes of WCW
