The final year of the millennium kicks off with a bang as Paul Heyman & ECW release the following statement:

"ECW is very happy to announce that with some financial investors stepping up, we are now no longer restricted and limited due to money. We are not at the mercy of WWF or WCW who can simply buy up our talent. Which means...

The war is officially on!

Do not be mistaken with this new found money, we are not going to change who we are, we are still going to be just as violent, just as extreme as ever... we just now have the business backing to truly compete.

Now WCW is focusing on old-timers and blasts from the past trying to regain their glory days.

WWF is ripping off ECW and calling it the attitude era.

But ECW... we will continue to do what we always have done, innovate, and elevate... whether its signing the most talented in ring workers around the globe... signing guys willing to go to the ring and just beat the crap out of eachother... or signing the stars of tomorrow, we WILL win this war.

As for what to expect right away, with this new Era of ECW we have vacated the ECW World, TV, and Tag Titles and will crown new champions for this era. Also some talent you expect to see on tv may not appear right away as we have finally been able to set up a proper school and developmental system.

But get ready, because the wrestling business is about to get a whole lot crazier!"

Plan on basically keeping ECW booking how it is (extreme, violent, edgy, and also talented in ring talent)

money is mainly to potentially lift guys from WWF/WCW who could fit in ECW as they become available

I will say there will be an interesting debut on the next show

The lights go out and a red spotlight comes on in the middle of the ring with James Mitchell standing there with a microphone and he invites RVD to the ring. After a few minutes RVD makes his way out unsure what Mitchell wants. Mitchell continues his talk from earlier about a new era in ECW, a dark cloud over the company, when suddenly all the lights come on and standing just behind RVD just outside where the spotlight was is the debuting Vampiro! Who levels RVD in the back with a bat as Mitchell laughs and watches the beat down.

Paul Heyman has announced there will be a 1 night, 16 man tournament to crown the NEW ECW World Champion, the tournament will consist of 4 Fatal 4 Way matches, with the winners facing off in the main event in a 4 way Elimination Match. The Matches are:

Tommy Dreamer vs Jerry Lynn vs Vampiro vs Lance Storm

New Jack vs RVD vs Sabu vs Stevie Richards

The 4 winners will then face off for the World TItle


Also we will see a Triple Threat Match for the ECW Television Championship
