Re: 2010 Recruiting Thread
Sorry AA, but this just isn't true. All year, everyone's been pegging him for Columbia, and for good reason - Spurrier didn't have to sell anything, he grew up cheering for the Gamecocks. Auburn made it interesting obviously, but this wasn't some last second change of heart - he committed to the school he's been a fan of all his life and had been linked to since his recruitment started.
As for saying Auburn had a slight lead...recruits know how to play the game, everyone wants drama, and to play the hat game nowadays. 13 months ago Will Campbell arrived in San Antonio and told the world he wasn't going to Michigan and wanted to get away - and the truth was, Michigan had him in the bag all along.
They're high school kids, many of them aren't going to be 100% forthcoming. They love the drama.Comment

Can't wait to see the new avatar.
Anyways, Arie Kouandjio commits to Alabama, huge get not only because Arie is a great player but it put Alabama in the driver's seat for his little (bigger) brother Cyrus next year. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the last commit for Bama this year.PS: You guys are great.

Re: 2010 Recruiting Thread
All year everyone has pegged every single one of Auburn's commits as going somewhere else.
Hell, the instate newspapers didn't even list Auburn as an option of the kid who committed yesterday. Those people always pick every player to go to the instate school.
And much like Antoine Smith, he's sentenced himself to 4 years of irrelevancy.Comment

Yeah..now after the fact folks can say, "Well he was really a USC lock all year" but that doesn't wash when the kid is saying things in public like that.
He was far from a USC lock. Easy to say it now after he commits but like I said, every interview, etc. had AU as his leader or tied for it all year. 1+1 doesn't equal 2 with that logic.
Regardless...good luck to the kid until he comes to Jordan Hare in September.AUBURN TIGERS

Also the consensus is that had he been at a bigger and better football HS he easily would've been a 4 star prospect and a top 20 prospect in FL.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Thread
Regarding Lattimore, the mod on AU's rivals site posted this on the board. Ah..the ups and downs of high school recruiting.
Going into the weekend, I believe Lattimore wanted to go to Auburn and planned on going to Auburn. Friday, Gene Chizik, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and running backs coach/lead recruiter Curtis Luper were among a handful of Tiger coaches that made the trip to Duncan for an in-home visit.
It was a very good visit for Auburn. The group made another big impression. After the visit, the Tigers felt very optimistic about their chances of signing him. So were several close to Lattimore.
Friday night, a fellow recruit and friend of Lattimore received a text message from Lattimore’s phone. It read, “It will be official Tuesday. I will be a War Eagle.” The recruit wasn’t surprised. He received a text message a week earlier. “I’m going to Auburn,” the text read. It was from Lattimore’s phone.
What happened?
South Carolina had an in-home visit Saturday. Steve Spurrier and assistants spent a lot of time with Lattimore and his family. Maybe the Gamecocks did enough on the visit to convince him to stay home. It fits the timeline. The following day, Sunday, Lattimore made his decision to attend South Carolina instead of Auburn.AUBURN TIGERS
