you're dealing with a head injury dude, until recently with mri they are finding stuff that you just can't measure even the person affected. This is not an eyeball test nor is it, I can play hurt but not injured. Who was the eagle db, who suffered from early symptons of alzheimers and then subsequently died or maybe even committed suicide, I can't recall right now. A whole host of other football players and boxers of years gone by. Again this injury is neurological and can't be given the ole eye ball test. I guess Rothlisberger is soft? the same with with Brian Westbrook. Concussion is serious business for your life after football.

Re: Mike Leach fired
from Leach's side, he asked the trainer to place Adam somewhere dark and close to the field. he didn't say place him in a closet/shed/etc...
from the trainer side, who originally agreed with Leach before Leach was fired, now says that he had no decision in the matter and that Leach ordered him to do it.
so who do you believe? someone that flips his story after someone got fired. or Leach, who is already fired.
Personally I can't find any reason to believe either one as the whole thing is a he said/he said thing where everyone is trying to make themselves look in the right, but do find it interesting that the trainer keeps changing his story.Last edited by Solidice; 01-02-2010, 08:51 PM.Comment

Do you understand it now? When the trainer told him he had a concussion and could not practice. Leach should have just followed what the trainer prescribe not what he thinks is best? place him in a dark room, well that's what he did. I couldn't care less if it was a closet or a bed room, a person with a concussion must be monitored, not left alone in the dark.Comment

Please read what you just wrote

and Adam was not alone, there was a trainer there to monitor him.(according to Leach and the trainer before Leach was fired)
but either way, in the end, Leach was not fired because of this incident. the admins wanted him gone long ago and just used this as a means to fire him to make it look bad on Leach instead of themselves. TTU hired Bobby Knight. do you really think what Leach may or may not have done was worse than anything Bobby has done?Last edited by Solidice; 01-02-2010, 09:02 PM.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
If a doctor did that, his license would have been yanked. Why not simply tell the trainer to follow medical protocol for a concussion unless it was (inappropriate) punishment?
Taken from webmd.com---
What should I do if I have a concussion?
How serious a concussion is, dictates what kind of treatment you should seek. Most people with concussions fully recover with appropriate treatment. But since a concussion can be serious, safeguarding yourself is important. Here are a few steps to take:
- Seek medical attention. A health care professional can decide how serious the concussion is and whether you require treatment. If you have suffered a grade 1 or grade 2 concussion, wait until symptoms are gone before returning to normal activities. That could take several minutes, hours, days, or even a week.
If you have sustained a grade 3 concussion, see a doctor immediately for observation and treatment. A doctor will ask how the head injury happened and discuss the symptoms. The doctor may also ask you simple questions such as "Where do you live?" "What is your name?" or "Who is the president?" The doctor asks these questions to evaluate your memory and concentration skills.
The doctor may test your coordination and reflexes, which are both functions of the central nervous system. The doctor may also order a CT scan or an MRI to rule out bleeding or other serious brain injury.
If hospitalization is not required, the doctor will provide instructions for your recovery. Aspirin-free medications may be prescribed and you will be advised to take it easy. Experts recommend follow-up medical attention within 24 to 72 hours if symptoms worsen.
Importantly, if you have a seizure, immediately see a doctor.
- Take a break. If your concussion was sustained during athletic activity, stop play and sit it out. Your brain needs time to properly heal, so rest is key. Athletes and children should be closely monitored by coaches upon resuming play. If you resume play too soon, you risk a greater chance of having a second concussion, which can compound the damage.
- Guard against repeat concussions. Repeat concussions cause cumulative effects on the brain. Successive concussions can have devastating consequences, including brain swelling, permanent brain damage, long-term disabilities, or even death. Don't return to normal activities if you still display post-concussive symptoms. Get a doctor's clearance so you can return to work or play with confidence.

Re: Mike Leach fired
The affidavit is dated dec 21st 2009, that is when the trainer statement was taken, well before leach was fired. Leach isn't a trainer, and nor is he a doctor, Let the trainer prescribe whatever is neccessary to combat the concussion. Leach should listen to his/her recommendation not some oh he's sensitive to light, well put him a dark room, he's on some old mid wife ish.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
Because it's against the law to put someone in dark in isolation as punishment. They have to consent or be a danger to themselves or others to do that. Since the trainer and the doctor said no other player with a head injury was ever treated that way, it's punitive action against a player and a slam dunk civil suit win against TT and Mike Leach by the James Family if they pressed the issue.I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....Comment

Phy told university officials in his affidavit that James "may not have been harmed," but he "considered this practice inappropriate, and a deviation from the medical standard of care."

He didn't. And he's changed his story. Wake up.Last edited by Sting; 01-02-2010, 09:13 PM.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
There is no gray area here. You either followed proper procedure or you didn't. How many people would be siding with the coach if the kid had a seizure and/or died while being kept in a "dark place" ?Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
that is why he had a trainer monitoring him. what if he was outside and had a seizure?Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
I ask you again: how did him standing in that room endanger him?
You do realize there was a trainer right there with him right? That's why he had to "hurry up" in his little video because someone was coming. This has been confirmed by Leach and the trainer.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
That whole analogy is completely off. What if he did a lot of things. What if he tripped and fell on an object and died? What if a ball hit him in the head and he had a seizure out there?
You see how ridiculous that sounds?Comment
