From my understanding he can, but he has to pay his way his first year. I would imagine his parents couldn't pay the out of state tuition, which is the reason he is coming to ECU. Plus I believe I read after the NCAA made their decision, Bama reassigned his scholarship spot to someone else.

He is only enrolling at ECU this first year to go to school, he will not be able to be part of the team until summer camp next year.

Alabama gets commitment from 2012 recruit Eddie Williams. Recruited to play safety but is already 6'4" 205lbs according to Scout. He's the first commit of the 2012 class for Bama. Said he wanted to be the first and get the ball rolling.

Eddie Williams, safety from Panama City-Arnold, Ala., is expected to rank among the top overall prospects in the country in 2012. He committed to the defending national champs today

"I wanted to get on board and become the first commitment of 2012 for Alabama and get the ball rolling," Williams told BamaOnline.com. "It was important to me to be a leader for my class and I figured it would be helping my future team out if I got it out of the way and helped them put together the No. 1 class. I have known where I have wanted to go for a long time, so there was no need to wait."

With exception to some of the big boys, rankings are more about quantity over quality at this point imo.

Kasen Williams decides tonight. I'm praying that all these people predicting he's going to choose UW doesn't jinx it.

Anyone watching the high school game on ESPN? Plant vs Manatee, James Wilder and Mike Blakely in action. So far Blakely looks like the superior back, he's the best player on the field no doubt. Wilder is very underwhelming, not strong at blocking, catching or tackling (from what he's shown tonight). Looks the part, but not playing the part.

Alabama commit Phillip Ely started out solid but went down early with an ankle injury.

Blakely absolutely dominated out there. Plant looked very average since that first drive, and I definitely agree about Wilder.

I couldn't agree more with each point.

Blakely wants to be a Gator. I can feel it. Kid is nice!!

Manatee took it to Plant all night long. This Grant game is pretty entertaining so far as well.

Not rsurprising Blakely looked like a better RB. Wilder can still be a good RB at the next level, but he'd be a star at DE/LB IMO. Plant laid a big time egg, but at least for them it was just a preseason type game. AU/UF are going to be hard after Blakely if they weren't already.
