    Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread

FSU picks up commitment #7 from DT Nile Lawrence-Stample (Warchant has this for his name, TomahawkNation has just Nile Lawrence) out of Davie, FL.

He is 6'2 around 300 lbs and is freakishly athletic. He runs a sub 5.0 forty and plays a lot of Linebacker at his HS...yes he is a 300 lb LB in HS. I am pumped for this commitment with a player with this sort of athleticism. As of now he is like Cameron Erving who FSU discovered before anyone else but who knows if he does well this summer he will shoot up the rankings.

FSU picks up commitment number eight from likely 4* DT Derrick Mitchell from First Coast HS in Jacksonville. Of FSU's 8 current commitments, 7 are on the ESPNU 150 watch list. This class is shaping up to be insane and there are plenty of big names out there, namely QB Christian LeMay.

At this point, the staff likes Nick Marshall more (in regards to LeMay).

As I said earlier, AU will be in the mix for Crowell, as well as DT Gabe Wright. It also helps that former Auburn DB Dell McGee is the head coach at Carver High in Columbus.

Following the visit, Crowell said the Tigers have made a case to be a contender for him throughout the process. He doesn't plan on making a decision anytime soon, but when he does, he said, Auburn will be in the mix.

"They are going to be in it until the end," said Crowell. "I love the running back tradition, the coaches, the offense and it's pretty close to home."

Crowell plans to return to Auburn April 17 for the Tigers' spring game.
Just found out that ESPNU will be televising Auburn's spring "A Day" game nationally as well so folks can see "the beast" taking snaps at QB.

              I'm pretty sure Crowell misspoke.

When is Vince Young's brother coming around?

Texas is up to 15 commits, and with their second junior day this weekend, a few more should be coming down the line. It would not surprise me if their class is pretty much wrapped in about a week or so, with the exception of a few big names (Brown, Westerman, Green).

And now they've had time together, between Fisher, James Coley, Lawrence Dawsey, and Eddie Gran I'm not too worried about FSU's recruiting anytime soon. I am however shocked about this fast start to recruiting with FSU already getting players at the top of their list like Karlos Williams and Derrick Mitchell.

I think they need to tweak with that clones intelligence a bit. The original had a Wonderlic that would suggest he has the intelligence of a ******, imagine if the clone was dumber?

Seriously though recruiting at Texas has got to be the easiest job in the world. You'll have 25 big time players in that state alone hoping and praying to become Longhorns. Sure they occasionally need to compete with Oklahoma and will lose a few or just bungle the evaluation (Dez Bryant) and not offer but by and large Texas should win 10 games a year with ease.

Nah, lots of schools are "in the mix", they're big time prospects after all. As it stands right now though, Alabama is the clear favorite for both.
...ever since visiting Alabama and getting an official offer from coach Nick Saban he has said the Crimson Tide is the team to beat. He reaffirmed them as leader to a national recruiting analyst on Friday.

“I like Alabama because I’m real comfortable with the coaches there and like the players too,” he said told Allen Wallace of Scout.com. “I’ve got a good relationship with them. I love how they run the ball. They really showcase the back. I also like coach Nick Saban and his whole staff.”

Yup. More due to Gabe Wright though. He's enamored with Alabama and he claims that Crowell and he are a package deal.

Mark Ingram is going to be huge in this. Him and Crowell have talked a couple of times. Crowell was floored when Ingram called him.

Last year Auburn wasn't going to get anyone Alabama wanted and was going to finish with a bad crootin class, and I played it with the the entire time, so if luck or tradition or whatever holds, then continual predictions of Auburn failure with croots combined with should equal much success.
