I remember all of my SEC friends(UGA,Auburn, LSU, you name it) were so excited and were thrilled in that game for their HATED Gators because it shut the Media up about the Big Ten and showed the SEC was the most dominant team. Since that Gator pounding, they have won 3 BCS championships. Before it, they won 2. Then you have the Gators of '06 to make it 6. There is not that big of a difference from pre-2006 SEC and post 2006- SEC. Not to mention it SHOULD have been
3 BCS championships pre-2006 and 2 post-2006 because Auburn would have beaten both USC and Oklahoma in 04.
BCS Pre-2006: SEC had 11 teams qualify for BCS bowls going 7-4 in them
BCS 2006-present: SEC had 7 teams qualify for BCS bowls going 6-1 in them.

They weren't quite as good, but they were still dominant and the SEC schedules were still torture. Therefore, it was understandable for SEC teams to schedule easy non-conference games.
The SEC winning 2 BCS championships before 2006 does not equal dominance. Going 7-4 in BCS games does not equal "dominance." I do not like to throw the dominance word around like some people do. I never said the SEC was bad, they have been good for awhile, but not dominant and powerful as now.

The SEC winning 4 BCS championships in a row=dominance

All I'm saying is The SEC schedule was still Hell in those days, it makes sense for SEC teams to schedule easier non-conference games.

I understand where you are coming from.

I understand why teams do not usually schedule tough OOC matchups, especially in the SEC. But as a fan I wish there were more. I like what Alabama is doing in playing teams like VT and PSU. Texas played Ohio St in a home and home a couple years ago when the Big 12 was much stronger then it is now. USC played OSU in a home and home and the PAC 10 was the 2nd best conference last year.

I too wish there were more, but:

          1. As I said earlier SEC has a tough enough schedule as it is
          2. Its also hard to get teams to play you. Not very many teams in the national championship race outside of the SEC are going to want to play a Florida or a Alabama.

This is just another reason why I want a play-off. The BCS formula is set to where you need to go undefeated or lose only 1 game(besides 07), so teams aren't going to want to schedule really tough non-conference games if they are already in the national championship hunt. If we had a play-off, teams would actually benefit from playing strong non-conference schedules because it would help them for the play-offs and it would be okay if they had 2 or even 3 losses.

I think we can finally agree on something lol.

And also this hurts teams like Boise St, Utah, TCU. They get knocked for not playing any tough OOC games, yet no one will play them especially Boise St. What benefit would Florida get from playing Boise? If UF wins, well they should of. If they lose then their national champion chances are done. And of course money is always an issue.
