As the Iron Bowl approaches it is only right that we reflect on Auburn's history and answer the question:

What exactly is Auburn Football?

It is then hiring a coach with a career losing record as a head coach in Division 1.

It's vandalizing your own town to celebrate wins over Arkansas State and UT-Chattanooga.

It's going 12-0 in the SEC and NOT getting into the national title game.

It's going 8-5 with a narrow win over Northwestern and being happy.

It's thinking you have a nice stadium, then realizing your rival's stadium is arguably the nicest in all of college football.

It's claiming history and tradition mean nothing only because you have none.

It's knowing deep down your rival is likely the #1 program of all-time while you've never even finished a season as the consensus #1 team.

It's having 8 coaches have all-time losing records with your school.

It's naming your field after a coach who never won a national title.

It's having a huge barn across the street from your stadium and not realizing the irony.

It's having national news channels mistakenly place your school in western Georgia.

It's having Iowa State fans thank you for taking Gene Chizik off their hands.

It's sending out an email to your entire student body bragging because you led the Alabama game for 58 minutes and almost won.

It's being undefeated at 11-0 and the only publicity you get nationally is about a scandal involving your star player.

It's getting beat 36-0 by John Parker Wilson.

It's not winning the SEC even once during the tenure of Paul W. Bryant(1958-1982).

It's your greatest coach ever having only 3 10-win seasons in his 25 years at the school.

It's the pissed off feeling you had inside when Alabama hired Nick Saban on January 3, 2007.

It's the fear you felt inside when Alabama beat the piss out of Clemson on national television to open the 2008 season because you realized Alabama's about to become Alabama again.

It's the sadness you felt inside as Alabama delivered the largest margin of defeat in the Iron Bowl in 33 years in 2008.

It's the horror you felt inside as Alabama went 14-0 and won their 11th national title.



It's knowing no matter what you do or who you beat, you'll never be as good as us. Ever.
