    Re: Week 2 Discussion

65 yard TD for Sparty Jr, tying it up with UCLA late in the 3rd. Neuheisel might as well be fired right now if they lose this

UCLA nearly in the red zone...fumbles...gonna review to see if it's incomplete, but likely a fumble

UCLA by 3, 7 1/2 to go....2 long runs, UCLA up 10 with 3 1/2 to go, that should do it.

According to a couple of articles, the returned block for touchdown will stand after all. 23-14 SC victory. How goofy is that? A win is a win but I guess it means they covered the spread.

It shouldn't count though, should it? I mean, the players running out onto the field before he scores should fall under the category of taunting before the ball crosses the plane. Which the NCAA clearly stated that the score would be negated.

The refs only called a sideline warning, not taunting, so I guess that would be why. It's changed on the USC site, so I believe it now.

Another thought, the TD was probably never taken away. The ref said that by rule, the penalty was declined. That means there was no penalty to take away the TD. It was a dead ball foul because they weren't players involved in the play anyway, so the refs should've announced that the TD counted, they just didn't really say anything about it either way.

Nope and if I heard correct, the magic number was 8.. so some people in Vegas could have cashed in twice. Seems a little fishy.. lol.

I think they should have kept the points off the board, if they are serious about enforcing this new rule..

The penalty was correctly decline by rule-therefore, there's no penalty to take the TD away. It was in reality never taken away, the ref just didn't signal that it counted like he should have. And the taunting rule doesn't apply to players who weren't involved in the play-that's a sideline warning only, which is what USC was called for.
