Re: Grade you team's first game performance
UT
Overall= A-
Passing Game= A+
For as good as the NCSU secondary was supposed to be, UT receivers were absolutely torching them. Im not sure it was a case of us being that good in the passing game, or NCSU just breaking down completely in coverages. I will have a much better gauge of where we are come the UF/UT game.
Running Game= C
I still cant believe what I am seeing out of a Tennessee running game, or lack thereof. One thing that I am sure of though, Rajon Neal is the same dancing, find the sideline, timid runner that he has always been while on the Hill. Marlin Lane looked good and should get a bulk of the carries IMO.
Offensive Line=B
I thought we did decent in this area, sans run blocking. We are still not firing off the ball like I would like to see, but our pass protection looked great and the line was picking up blocks to give Bray plenty of time all night to throw.
Defensive Line = A
Though we did great here and the key additions of McCullers and Sentimore have improved a Dline that was small and no deep at all. Held NCSU to 119 yards on 32 carries which was pretty good. We were in the backfield on passes all night long and pressured a good QB in Glennon.
Secondary = A
The biggest surprise for me anyway was the play of our secondary. There were one or two times that I saw the coverages break down.....mainly Byron Moore, but as a group I thought we played well.Comment

Re: Grade you team's first game performance
NIU A-
There were concerns about the falloff from Harnish to Lynch, he struggled with the passing attack but he played a huge part of keeping the Huskies in it, there were some drops, but overall our offense is alright. The offensive line only gave up two sacks which I can live with especially since so many new faces.
Our defense though, I can't wait to see how they do going forward, six sacks on Vandenburg, holding him to 129 yards? Against the run we got gashed but the MAC is very pass oriented and holding a Big Ten school (albeit Iowa) to 129 yards and six sacks is huge! I've been saying it but I honestly believe Northern is ready for a call up to a bigger conference, we've quietly been competing with BCS talent (Wiscy beatdown last year aside) were definitely starting to outgrow the MAC. I'd love to see NIU get a call up somewhere.
I'm still holding firm on NIU making a third consecutive trip to Detroit.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|
