It was going so well for Case McCoy. Then he made that throw.

Re: Week 13 Discussion
Well, Texas is going back to sucking.
Get this season over with, gone on head and get rolled by Kansas State.
Can't believe with a program like Texas, the head coaches of the football and basketball teams need to be fired.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: Week 13 Discussion
You're right. A school with the resources of the University of Texas at Austin should be only winning 8 games a year and no where near the natty title picture.
If the expectations coming into the season were to be 9-3, 8-4, then that's a serious problem.
OU will maybe finish 10-2, 9-3 and that's not good enough. Why ? Because they have title aspirations every season. Same with Alabama. That's where Texas should be.
But if fans are happy with being 3rd best in the conference and winning 8 or 9 a season while being embarrassed by OU, then Mack should stay.
And I've wanted Barnes gone for a couple seasons now.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Where did I say 5-7 and 7-5 isn't underacheiving?

I personally don't see how the last couple years fall on Mack's shoulders. Nobody could have known that Garrett Gilbert (5-star prospect) was going to be a bust. Its rare to see a team dominate when they're starting 2 freshman quarterbacks (2011) and has new coordinators on both sides of the ball. The run defense was going to struggle this year no matter who's the coach because we lost 3 of our top 4 run stoppers to injury. (Even then, the D has given up 17, 22, and 20 points the last 3 games).
That said, I'm open to discussion. I would definently like to believe that a simple coaching change would solve all our problems. But would it?Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment

see above.

well, apparently they aren't underachieving, so 8-4 is fine.
I don't disagree. The question is whether this is Mack Brown's fault, or if its due to external factors.
This still doesn't prove that Mack is the problem. Saying "the team isn't winning enough games" isn't an argument. That can be due to any number of things, not all of which fall on the coach. If you're arguing why Mack should be fired, I want to know why Mack should be fired. Is he not recruiting well enough? Is he not motivating well enough? Whats he doing wrong?

If its not the coaching, then I honestly do not know what else it could be. Look at JJlinn's post in the CBB section under this week's set of games. Even though he's talking about Barnes, the exact same can be said about Mack.Last edited by legendkiller5; 11-23-2012, 02:49 AM.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: Week 13 Discussion
If I recall correctly, didn't Texas make a point of passing on taking a QB in the 2008 class because of Gilbert being in the bag in the 2009 class? When you consider that Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Darron Thomas were in the 2008 class, that's a pretty glaring misfire in talent evaluation. Whether it's fair or not, head coaches will always take the heat when recruiting plays out like that.Comment
