Re: Week 6 Discussion
Imo there's no way the call on the field could be overturned from this or any of the other replays we saw last night. Do I think it was a fumble? Definitely. Can we say with absolute certainty that the ball came out before the runner was down? No.
Given that you have to stick with the call on the field. Sucks for ISU, but them's the breaks.Comment

Re: Week 6 Discussion
Here's my problem, speaking as a Longhorn.
I one hundred percent fully agree with every single Iowa State fan that claims the ball was taken from Texas before a knee hit the ground. In that event, it should have been Iowa State's ball. My problem with the call however is, why did they not blow the whistle when forward motion was completely stopped? His forward motion was completely stopped and it just became a shoving match, two seconds before ISU stripped the ball. I'm not disputing that ISU didn't strip the ball as they did. And I feel for ISU fans having to endure a loss like this. Trust me, getting a win like this isn't pleasant either. But I really question the refs not blowing the whistle when the play should have been ruled dead.Comment

Re: Week 6 Discussion
The refs in that clip were waiting to see if he was going to score before blowing the whistle in that pileup. Once the ball came out, "forward progress" was said to have been stopped. The whistle was after the fact.
That's my problem with it... if the Iowa St. players had assumed forward progress was stopped and let up, and Gray falls into the endzone, it would have been a touchdown. There had been no whistle and it would have been shame on you for not playing the play out till the whistle. I think the Defense should have that same courtesy. If an offensive player lets up prior to the whistle and an event happens, it should be a live ball.Comment

Re: Week 6 Discussion
It was a bad call IMO. If the Texas running back would have a got a extra lunge that put him in the end zone then ISU would have said they stopped his progression and Texas would be saying no he never stopped. See how a different scenario makes the two teams argue the other way around
Fact is though they didn't blow the whistle and forward progression doesn't stop the second you are not moving forward.Comment

Re: Week 6 Discussion
The QB should have never ran the ball, that was dumb. But spiking the ball would make it 4th down, and with all the time it takes to get lined up, you might as well run a quick pass to try and move the sticks. (which they tried)
Spiking would be the absolute stupidest thing you could do.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

15 points for San Diego State in about 3 minutes of game time. Snap over the head of the Nevada punter with 40ish seconds to go in the half, another TD with 10 seconds to go, now another TD 2 1/2 minutes into the 3rd after Fajardo fumbled.Comment
