      Re: Week 3 Discussion

Just saw J.W. Walsh out 6-8 weeks for OSU. If he can get back for the Baylor game and they can survive through WVU I still think they have a shot in the Big 12. Sad though I really wanted to see this team all season with him at the helm. Wanted to know if FSU game was a fluke or what.

        Fixed.

This team, especially the offense, has way too much talent to be this bad. We lost our 2013 OC Doug Meachum to TCU in the offseason. Levine decided to promote Travis Bush to OC, and so far he has looked completely overmatched.

For a coach who specializes in special teams, ours just flat out suck.

WTF was that? How do you have a guy with nobody within 5 yards of him on a hail mary to end the half. WOW

UofL will most likely be without the services of Michael Dyer again this week.

Looks as though L.J. Scott is going to be the #2 back this week. He received Rookie of the Week in the ACC last week, but that was against Murray State. Big change in competition this week vs a stout UVA defense.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Everything you are hearing is that Walsh is out for the year as of this morning.

Still have OSU losing 4-5 games. Just too young of a team, they surpassed expectations vs. FSU but they're far from a finished product.

                                Re: Week 3 Discussion

Big week of games in Big XII country...lots of programs are going to find out where they lie in the grand scheme of things. Here's my completely off the rocker picks for the week:

                                Baylor (-34) at Buffalo
Should be a snoozer. Baylor 63 Bulls 13

                                West Virginia at Maryland (-3)
The problem with outperforming in one game is that you raise expectations perhaps unrealistically the rest of the year. WVU and Maryland will play each other tough, I'll go with the Mountaineers in a close one. WVU 34 Maryland 31

                                Iowa State at Iowa (-12)
Really, the Cyclones played a really good opponent week 1 (NDSU). The Bison would probably be a middling FBS team, so they were drummed by a non rumdum. Then ISU played KSU (who I actually think/thought was pretty good). With that said, crazy things happen in this rivalry, but Iowa wins. Iowa 27 Iowa State 14

                                Kansas at Duke (-14)
This is really a great basketball matchup, but they're not playing basketball yet -- Duke is a better team and should win. I say the Jayhawks keep it closer than expected for a half. Duke 38 Kansas 24.

                                Arkansas at Texas Tech (-1)
I haven't been more unimpressed with Tech up to this point. They're undisciplined and tend to blow assignments more often than they should. This is a must win for the Red Raiders, losing it will just look really bad and set the program back. It won't be easy, but Tech irons out the kinks and gets it done, although this is my lowest confidence pick outside of one below. Texas Tech 41 Arkansas 38

                                Minnesota at TCU (-15)
The Horned Frogs aren't flashy, but they're really good where it counts. Down in the trenches and on defense. TCU won't be flashy, but they'll get the job done. TCU 31 Minnesota 17

                                UTSA at Oklahoma State (-13)
UTSA is coming off of two games which they significantly outperformed expectations. This is a trend for a veteran laden team. On the flip side, Oklahoma State is starting Daxx Garman in his first game and has a game full of players who just aren't experienced. Garman will make some mistakes which propel the Roadrunners onwards. I need to go truly off my rocker for a game. Upset of the week, just don't blame me if the Pokes roll. UTSA 35 Oklahoma State 34.

UCLA (-8) vs. Texas (Arlington, TX)
Honestly, this is the line of the week where I am perplexed, bumfuzzled, and confused. No, UCLA hasn't looked great -- but as bad as UCLA has looked, Texas has looked worse. Texas' defense is bad, their offense is worse. Even the UCLA which has looked less than impressive thus far is much better than the Texas team we saw last week. I say it looks closer than it truly was as Texas struggles to find any offense. UCLA 28 Texas 6

                                Tennessee at Oklahoma (-21)
This game has been getting some upset talk all week, I'm not sure there's anything to warrant that. People have forgotten how dominant Oklahoma has been at home under Stoops, beating ranked teams by an average score of 40-19 at home -- and Tennessee isn't ranked. Next year's game will be the must watch draw, this year will be a Sooner statement game. Oklahoma 48 Tennessee 10.
