    OMT, can you answer this?

How come the Last-gen consoles still use this engine?

But the 360 and PS3 use an entirely different one? I don't know if it is just me, but the way the players run with the old engine looked more realistic to me. Almost everything looked better to me than the graphics. Even the PS2 has a better presentation than the 360.

So why couldn't we get that engine with next gen graphics and presentation? I am sure many people would like that better.

Because they had to rebuild the engine for next gen blah blah blah

I can't stand how players ice skate in next gen, which is why I still play last gen. I love the last gen engine, it is pretty much perfect, other than some major flaws that you can easily exploit.

You're right that they run more smoothly on the older gen systems. I've noticed on long runs the running animation will start over and a players leg that should be moving backward will warp forward mid stride when the animation starts over again. Also, I hate the way players carry the ball like a loaf of bread.

So, you guys would rather have the old engine with new graphics? I'm sure most people would. How long would it take EA to get an engine just like that for next gen consoles?

The main problem with the running in next gen is the lack of hip movement. Next time you run the ball just take a look at it. The players used to not even move their heads. They all run with hunched backs and no hip movement so it looks like they just shuffle across the field. In last gen there is just enough hip movement, not to mention players shift weight when you do a 360. In next gen if you do a 360 the player simply turns around instead of like touching the ground or something as in last gen.

They also lean when they turn. I also think passing and blocking looks alot better as well as catching. And I don't know if that is the video with the long TD pass or Kickoff TD's. But I like the way the DB's will dive to swat the ball and they actually look at the ball and don't make stupid INT's. If it was up to me, i'd say EA needs to port that engine over somehow and improve the graphics.

I think I asked OMT about that one time, he said something like the CPU's and stuff since they don't match up that he can't do that. Everyone has been begging for a port for a while, at least people who played last gen and upgraded to next. If they won't port it they at least need to take some aspects from it because they could make the game a lot better by bringing over some of the small details you mentioned.

I REFUSE to believe it takes some ungoldy amount of intelligence to get a couple people, put them in mo-cap suits, and have them run.

How hard can something like that be. EA acts like (in all the next gen games) that getting how someone runs right is hard or something. Good lord, MOCAP people.

Haha I know. I heard they are doing some new mocap technology or something this year though. Hopefully they can get running right. Something that always confused me was when after a play a player would stop running you know, that would look completely real. But the running motion he just came out of looked like he had a poll in his butt.

It's been 4 years and they still haven't figured it out? I don't even think they really tried. I mean in 4 years they should have been able to do something to where we could have a clone of that engine with better graphics. Switching to that engine would be one of the smartest things EA Football has ever done.

You dont even have to look back that far....just look at vids from NCAA 08 and you'll see the players ran properly on there. They broke it in '09 for some reason.

Are you kidding me? The players were worse in 08 than in 09

I don't think the "engine" was much different... though the term "engine" gets thrown around way too often.

The reason why the last gen stuff plays better is because it has had 8 years of iteration ironing out the kinks. NCAA 09 was only the 3rd year for this generation.

This is true, however since the release of the next gen games the last gen games have pretty much been all stale. In fact it seems like I've been playing the same game since 06. So I mean there were minor changes here and there.

Well why is it that basically straight out of the gate, NCAA 2002 still moves more fluid in some ways than this game does currently?
