Career and Season Wear and Tear
So I am wondering what everyone's else opinion is on this mechanic and what they have seen in their dynasty. I have the wear and tear settings on default but have had two straight years of kind of having my season tanked by losing players who reached their limit on season and career wear and tear. Not sure what I could have done differently as I was rotating my RBs in and out consistently and did not play players if they were showing even minor injuries. Just wondering what everyone else is seeing and if maybe on default this is a bit extreme.Tags: None -
The biggest issue for me right now is how much more played games impact the season and career wear and tear compared to simulated games. Had a HB lose all his season wear and tear as well as 75 percent of his career in one year averaging about 25 touches per game. The leading HB on an AI team averaged about 26 touches per game as was only at about half of season health at the end of the year and less than a quarter of career health was gone.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Things like this is why i am not even starting a dynasty yet. No one seems to be able to come up with even semi agreed upon settings to combat this. At this point i might just disable the system completely if i start a dynasty. I already had my RTG lose his entire senior season cause of it lolCan't believe I been a member here this longComment

I like the idea of season wear and tear. I'm still not sold on the idea of career wear and tear for 18 and 22 year olds. I've seen some people cite various individual instances as proof of it in real life, but those examples were all acute injuries that would have been every bit as destructive if they happened on their first college play as a freshman or their last one as a senior.👍 4Comment

I rose the hit stick cut stick and impact block. Lowered all the normal tackles and blocks. Most about 10. Recovery i invreased halftime to 55 and decreased week to week to 35. Ive been happy with those settings👍 1Comment

I'm almost wondering if the in game health pool should be lowered to prevent guys from draining too much of their season and career pools recovering in game.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

I wish there was one more additional slider that allowed us to control the season/career pool drain rates or pool totals.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I turned off wear and tear for now. You get about 2 seasons from a player and that's it, career pool is empty. Sure you can rotate guys in and out, but not realistic at QB and the small amount of RB touches needed to squeeze more than 2 seasons is unrealistically low.
Maybe if they patch it or someone comes up with better slider settings, im keeping it off.
I think career wear and tear is a good idea, especially for Madden, maybe not college football so much, but they really need to tweak it more IMO. It sucks that I have to turn it off altogether.Last edited by nflman2033; 07-24-2025, 11:27 AM.Comment

Agree with the comments above. It was also just a feature that was added (or, I guess, "changed" from CFB 25, since we had W & T, but not the season/career thing) without any real explanation as to how it works.
Ironically, W & T hasn't been a big issue for me because the running game is broken, and so it's pretty unlikely I would be running 20+ times a game with one back. I have noticed on QB's in game, and I lost a game because my QB was healthy but banged-up, and his accuracy suffered.
However, I think it's strange again this year that I have a 85-man roster playing tackle football, and they have this whole mechanic about players getting sore, and I just played 2 full offline dynasty seasons without seeing a single multi-game injury. (Or maybe one that was a game or two, can't remember). This is on the default settings that most people are going to use. How...is that possible?
My concern last year was that, yes, I could turn up the injuries slider, but I worried that doing so would exacerbate W & T in the course of a game. I'm okay with W & T as it is, but I don't want to trade a more realistic number of significant injuries for having my QB and RB yellow after every other hit they take.👍 1Comment

I’m with everyone else here in that season wear and tear should absolutely be a thing, but career should be saved for Madden.
In NCAA I think certain injuries should linger, and maybe a career wear and tear by body part, but not just their body as a whole. An ACL tear should definitely have some lingering effects on a knee, but not necessarily on “general career wear and tear”
For Madden, I love the thought of career wear and tear where bodies just break down. I get tired of all the RBs being studs until they’re 35 averaging 350 touches a year. Over the course of a 30 year franchise, I’m hoping it will create some “flash in the pan” type of players like RG3, Larry Johnson, Priest Holmes, and Andrew Luck. If they implement it correctly, it would elevate the Madden experience.
I don’t think it’s happening, but career wear and tear in NCAA would make sense if we could upload those players in draft classes to Madden. I’d think twice about picking a RB I knew was a stud in my college game if I saw he already had 1300 career touches, vs a guy that broke out as a junior with only 250 career touches.Comment

I completely retuned my W&T sliders and am very happy with the system.
