LOL all this whining is pretty pathetic.

The last time I checked, even the professionals "Chew The Clock". In College, there are even teams that chew the clock the whole game. Why not if their up already?

Football is a game of STRATEGY, INCHES & EMOTION.

Firstly, if he cheesed you all game by his plays, that sucks. Shame on him/her for that.

But how is it that you can complain on his strategy?? It seems to me that he put you on tilt and took advantage on your rage.

Simply said, the "Chew Clock" feature is indeed NOT Cheese & therefore should halt all complaints & whining.

You obviously have no idea what they're talking about.

There's a difference between wasting time and chewing the clock.

Wasting time, which is what they do in real life, still takes a full 25-35 seconds.

Chew the Clock takes that and gives you 10 seconds to do the same stuff you would do in 25-35 seconds.

Maybe that'll help you comprehend the situation they're having.

There is nothing that chew the clock does in game that the user couldn't already do. All it does is fast forward until the play clock says 12s left. People are complaining that they can't make defensive adjustments in the time. Well, if I waited until there were 8s left on the play clock to call my play then you'd have even less time to make adjustments and I don't need chew the clock to do it.

I basically lose my opportunity to make adjustments during that time frame. Allowing a person to chew clock implies that the defensive person does absoulutely nothing in those 15 seconds.
You completely missed my point. If the opponent gets to his play on the play call screen but lets the play clock run down to 10 seconds before actually selecting his play, you still only get (at most) 10 seconds to make adjustments. All Chew Clock changes in that situation is whether or not you have to spend 15-20 seconds staring at the play call screen before the opponents selects his play.

How can you say the play clock starting at 25 and you running it down to 8 seconds gives someone less time then when the play clock starts at 12?

You can't, because it's not possible.

You would have 17 seconds compared to 12, or 11 in the case that you like the clock run down to 1.

            I'd say there's a big difference between 17 seconds and 11 seconds.

I said you'd have less time to make defensive adjustments(which is what these guys are talking about), which are done after the huddle is broken. By running the play clock down to 8s, you only have 8s to make defensive adjustments. If you pick a play early and use chew clock, the defensive guy has 12a for adjustments.

If you're talking about how much time you have to call a play then it should always be the same (10s i believe) since you should wait until the offense calls a play anyway since you don't know if he coming out with 3TEs or 5WRs.

Re: Chew clock online HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!

Chew clock is a lazy feature programmed into this game. See Madden's accelerated clock. The only thing Madden does wrong is they void the accelerated clock under 2 minutes of the half. If it was still a feature under two minutes the user would be forced to have to use the sideline pass, burn a down by spiking the ball to stop the clock and make the use of timeouts so much more important.

Not if I wait until he/she selects their play, I would rather them wait and use that time, it effects the flow of the game that they have to wait around to the last couple of seconds and select their offensive play.

I'd rather not be stuck staring at the play call screen while my opponent runs down the clock but that's just me and nearly everyone else.

'Chew clock' isn't a problem. People chewing clock (not using the feature necessarily but running it down every play) is pretty boring in 5 minute quarters, but both teams are getting fewer possessions.

Chew clock isn't the problem. The problem is people losing to people who chew clock. That's the real issue here.

All EA needs to do is add the accelerated clock feature to NCAA and get rid of this gimmick. The entire gameplan feature needs to be trashed for that matter.

I only chew in online ranked games and I do it right from the start. I have a problem with people that go up by a TD, get a stop then start to chew. Either do it from the start, or wait until the 4th. In dynastys, I save it until the 4th. As far as it being cheese. Not a chance. Its called stop the the offense. I've taken the clock down to 2:00 left in the 2nd Q after starting out with the ball before. If they can't stop me, I'll keep moving 8 yards a play.

This whining reminds of a guy in an OD that bitched because he could not stop the run so he asked me if I was going to chew clock the whole game. I was just running plays with 15-20 seconds on play clock. He only ran verts the whole game. Pretty easy game to win. The rage after a PA pass to the TE for a TD was amazing. He quit and left the OD.

It isn't cheese. You don't like it because you don't know how to stop their offense. Score fast and often and you won't have to worry about chew clock will you?

I've skimmed the thread and see alot of good points, but I think what's lost is that the default quarters are obviously, only 5 minutes. I would have no problem with an opponent chewing the clock if the game time was longer. I get that it's a strategy and that it's better than sitting and waiting for an opponent to run the clock down from 35 seconds, but attempting to limit an opponent to only a couple of possessions per half is a little unrealistic.

In my opinion, it's not realistic to play a game like that and not get the ball until midway thru the 2nd quarter. Obviously, the fix is simply stopping the offense, but it only takes a few first downs to kill an entire quarter. I enjoy playing the game, and the chess match of running a full offensive and defensive playbook, but that's just me. We have a guy in our dynasty that can't throw the ball, so he's taking the chew clock approach. Here's to hoping he loses every game.

While I wouldn't like for an opponent to chew the clock against me (I only play against people in an OD with 7 minute quarters that has chew the clock rules in place so I don't play against people that do that) I don't understand arguments like yours. If chewing the clock were giving the chewer extra possessions it'd make sense, but they aren't just giving you fewer possessions, they're giving themselves fewer possessions as well so why isn't it a wash?
