New and different are great, but wings and truck bed patterns are gimmicks plain and simple. If you think it's cool to whore out to nike, then good for you. I prefer uniforms that actually make sense and have some sort of tradition.

Navy is another problem. Although they want to look like Marines out on the field, their school colors have absolutely no red in them. The uniforms that they broke out during the Army-Navy game are another gimmick that make little since to use in a game of great tradition.

I definitely see your point and agree. Sports in general have become more about fashion and the look on the field (or whatever sporting venue), than the game itself IMO.

Army doesn't have camo as a school color either but both Navy and Army's Alt Uni's made sense. Oregons, for the most part, don't and that is the difference.

I think I detect some jealousy, it's what makes Oregon unique ok I understand where you are coming from, but our newest efforts are cool no matter what anyone says or thinks it's good to be different and try new things.

How about Navy's marine unis mmmm fantastic

if you take into account Blount's actions last year, Masoli's this year and their embarrasing uniforms.... (and shady recruiting practices through nike- but thats a different thread)

Oklahoma St., Florida, LSU, and SJSU have sweet unis.

The worst belong to Arkansas and Tulane.

The Naval Academy belongs to the Department of the Navy, a significant portion of which is the United States Marine Corps. The red blood stripe down the pant leg of the Marine Dress Uniform means a lot to the Marine Corps, it is a big part of their history, it represents the sacrifice of those who came before them.

The uniform was certainly a Nike gimmick (on both sides), but to not understand what the red represents and why it was there is just silly.

That said, Nike uniforms are historically the most gimmick filled, ridiculous looking unis around.

Being a Hawk fan, I love the way that Iowa's black and gold unis are represented in the game this year (and finally completely accurate).

Besides that, I agree with a lot of what's been said:

Penn State (something about these are very cool)
UCLA (traditional, yet unique)
Texas (all whites are cool)
Notre Dame (classic; also the greens are cool)
Georgia (nice red and gray combination)

I've also found that if you scroll through Baylor's uniform selections, they've got some pretty sharp selections as well. SMU has been mentioned, and they've got some pretty nice uniform combinations. Oklahoma State's all-black uniforms with the Alternate White Helmet looks pretty sharp, especially at night ...

Out of all the selections I've come across, I think the TCU ones are my favorite. It's hard to pick against Florida State's all-black attire with the Pro Combat helmet, black jersey, and the black "Conquer" pants. But, I've really grown to love the TCU uniforms I mentioned above ...
