Even more so, the rosters you guys are all using have those players with high ratings even though some people have said they are doing "speed edits." Speed edits are great in all, but if you don't do them correctly as the majority of the people are not, the roster is only good for one year.
No its not. The AWR rating for QB's is WAYYYY outta left field. Thats the coach progression. I feel if there was no in-season progression, it might fix it. An example i said earlier, Joe Southwick - 83ovr - Boise State backup. In-Season goes to a 88 without playing time than to a 94 with off season progression. If EA could just cut in season progression that would only be a 89. Still maybe to high but than that would be on the default rosters. But its most definately coach progression as a main source problem.

Here are some results of a test dynasty I ran while working on my rosters.

      • Duke's HC David Cutcliffe is a C+ in my rosters, and their OC Matt Luke is a D, yet their QB progressed those 18 attribute ratings in his awareness rating.
      • LSU's HC Les Miles is an A, their OC Steve Kragthorpe is a C, and their backup QB progressed 18 attribute ratings in his awareness rating.
      • Ole Miss's HC Houton Nutt is a B, their OC David Lee is a D+, and their starting QB progressed 18 attribute ratings in his awareness rating.
      • Georgia's HC Mark Richt is an A, their OC Mike Bobo is a C+, and their starting QB only progressed 5 points in his awareness rating.
      • Oklahoma's HC Bob Stoops is an A+, their OC Josh Heupel is an A, and their starting QB progressed 9 points in his awareness rating.
      • Oregon State's HC Mike Riley is a B, their OC Danny Logsdorf is a D+, and their starting QB progressed 15 points in his awareness rating.
      • Michigan's HC Brady Hoke is a B, their OC Al Borges is a B+, and their starting QB only progressed 4 points in his awareness rating.

It is relatively random what players will progress. From what I have seen, Coach Prestige has hardly any effect on how much players will progress. If a QB has a low awareness rating to start, they pretty much jump up like crazy in that category NO MATTER what their HC and OC prestige rating are.

Simulate 5 years into dynasty with all coaches at 100 to start.

Simulate 5 years into dynasty with all coaches at 0 to start.

You will notice a huge difference in the talent disparity.

          This is true.

With my coach at a B prestige I was getting gains of 4 to 7 in overall points for my players ratings(most being 5)

When I lowered my coach to D I am now getting 3-4 overall gains with a few rare 5's

I doesn't matter if its coach progression or the default rosters. bottom line is that when you get years past the default rosters, (5+) there is a huge amount of 99's that grow every year. That's a problem, thats EA's fault, and i lost a huge amount of intrest and trust in EA games if they are just going to leave it as is and not even speak on the topic.

I'm in year 2014 and all this hullabaloo about progression being over done and too high is nonsense so far as i can tell. it looks as good as progression can be in this game.

EA did a lot of things right in this years game. once the patch is released this will be, without doubt, the best NCAA of this gen

You haven't got far enough along in it to see how bad it gets.

                    ugh.

at the start of 2016 there are over 26 99's in the game. Most of them QB's.

Something is broken. *** **** it.

I'm going to sim again this time with coaching carousel off.

                        It's all on coaches.

You have to rate them correctly and make your own system. I dropped Saban from a 99 to 89. Ratings were great across the board.

Top OC get B Ovr. Once he gets a HC job I move the guy to a C.

With coaching carousel off I'm almost 90% confident now that the problem disappears. It seems that for whatever reason coaches dont progress with the coaching carousel off.

I guess the next natural question I'd have is... can you edit a coach in year 2 or 3 to counter act too high progression?

If so then bad progression is entirely fixable with an annual adjustment to coaches. IF you want the coaching carousel. Whoever said the coaches aren't responsible for the progression is completely 100% wrong.

All these people are talking about what ratings and progression looks like after you get more then 5 years in but all I see is people doing sim test. Has anyone played a game against the higher rated players? I have been playing the series for some time now and can say that the higher the ratings the better the game plays. Just because a player is rated a 99ovr, which I put little value in to start with, does not mean he is unstoppable. If NCAA 11 taught us anything it was that the way the game is set up does not support low ratings very well. I'm a fan of the higher ratings.

There was a thread I read here a few weeks back done by Pocket Scout. He went into detail about how the rating value is created for each position. Ratings are more then just overall value. That is why if you play the game you can see a lower overall rated player out play a higher overall rated player.

As far as the Madden draft class debate that that was brought up. Madden has the ability to full edit inside the Franchise mode. So why not just edit the classes. There are a small number of players on the draft file so it would not take much time at all to do.
Relax, it's just a video game!

I dropped every head coach 25 points, and every coordinator 50 points, yet the number of A+ coaches still get out of hand quickly, so I doubt dropping guys 10 points will fix this.

And I may be misinterpreting the bolded part, but you can't edit prestige once your inside dynasty.

That's because no coaching carousel = no coaching changes = no need for prestige changes. It all is based on the prestige of the program I believe.
