Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
Really? You're attempting to tell me that I'm not allowed to enjoy it?
Ok, maybe that is a little stretch, but you are still attempting to tell me WHY I shouldn't enjoy it.
I enjoy the game because when I play it, the playbook, online, freeze, etc issues aren't prevalent. The only problem I am concerned with is tendencies. And even those haven't been enough to hamper my personal enjoyment. So, to answer the second question, I'm awaiting the patch for that reason.
If you can play this game, w/ all these issues, and still enjoy it... well, I don't know what to say. Your level of expectation is far below mine and others.
And to add to my post earlier... here are other issues w/ the game, which is probably pointless to post since EA will not do a damn thing about it. We know their loyalties lie w/ Florida State and they proved that in their video where they saw, from right here at OS, that FSU had changed their mid-field logo size and they IMMEDIATELY went in and fixed that, but other "uniform/field" issues have been ignored for years.
As BoSoxPujols said, in Dynasty, when changing conferences around... you know... another "new feature" you will see teams playing 11 games and as someone pointed earlier... as many as 19 games! LOL
Bubble Screen - Did you watch any college football this past w/ end? Because I did... and I saw a ton of Bubble Screens and I never once saw a Bubble Screen happen in real life the way they do in this game. In the game, the WR runs entirely too slow, then when he goes to catch the ball, 99% of the time he will turn his back to the defense and then he gets stuck in some stupid canned animation and by the time he gets out of that, he gets tackled. Usually for a 1 yard gain, at best.
And that brings me to another point... WR's can't block at all in this game. On Bubble Screens, WR Mid-Screens... it's just beyond ridiculous that they allow this type of stuff to get past quality control. Do they even watch football games???
Shovel Pass - Why is this not in the game? It was in NFL2K5 and that was 2004... 7 years ago. But EA can't implement this play? I've sent them many videos detailing this play, yet they ignore it.
Hey EA... guess what? Florida State runs the Shovel Pass and the Bubble Screen and they run them both correctly!
Number Fonts... Mizzou, Wisconsin, Nebraska and many others, have the number 1 font that is so fat it sticks out like a sore thumb. This has been going on since at least NCAA 08. And the font they use for that number, has never been used by any team ever as far as I can tell.
It's little things like that, which I have brought to their attention every single year, yet they do nothing about it. Yet Florida State alters their mid-field logo by 3 feet and by God, they get up off their *** real quick and make that change and then... have the balls to post that in a video showing us how quick and easy that is to fix. Meanwhile Washington has had their field wrong for years despite being told multiple times and all the teams w/ phantom number 1 fonts.
I could go on but I'll stop now... before I get myself banned. LOLDr Death

Guys, Criticize the game all you want, but we will not allow anyone to go after other OSers.Comment

Here's how I see it... I feel sorry for you and I also fear people like you, because it's people like you that EA will cater to, ensuring the rest of us that they will never make a game that is good, let alone great or even playable.

Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
Anyone else quickly losing interest in this game? I was busy the last week of August and first week of September, then checked back in this week almost in shock to see the patch still hasn't dropped. Today is the opening of week 2 in college football and nearly 2 full months past release. Sorry, but I don't care about the 'patch is in the hands of Sony/Microsoft' crap. The FACT is the patch is NOT in the hands of paying customers. It's getting to the point where the patch could drop and I wouldn't really even care anymore. I get the impression I'm not alone in this growing apathy.
If this was just a patch to fix a few nagging problems, that would be one thing. But this patch is addressing what the OS community has classified as major issues. And to beat the dead horse one more time, how did this get through testing? These are game on the shelf problems unless you don't care about little things and just want to play some casual football against the CPU to get your fix. And making minor tweaks to the same game every year with no significant engine improvements is getting old too, but that's for another discussion.
OK, done venting. Normally it is pretty tough to upset me to this level as a consumer, but I've had it. Another 60 bucks dropped for a game I've probably played 5 hours or less since release. Who am I really mad at? Myself for falling for the hype machine again and buying the game on release week. I highly doubt enough people will not buy on release week to make EA notice in the future, but I can speak for myself in that the lesson has finally been learned. Better late than never I suppose.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
None of us who enjoy the game are trying to belittle or badmouth anyone who has been screwed over by EA's incompetence. We all agree EA has failed both in execution and communication here. That's one of the main reasons why it is getting so bland and repetitive around here, though. We all know what is wrong. We all know EA is going to remain silent. So what is the point of all the whining now?
Hope that helps.Comment

This is a very good point. Codemasters the devs in charge of the official Formula One game have a former F1 driver and test driver on their dev team. Last year's game was their first and it was far from perfect, but the series is in good hands and the advantage of having a former driver actually on the dev team is never understated by Codemasters. EA Tiburon would do well to follow this approach.Comment

Yeah, that right there is the most disheartening evidence I've seen yet to the problems with this generation of football games. If ratings do not matter at all with the lines, what's the point? We might as well be playing NCAA Street. Most people don't know what it means to be champion... Oklahoma invented it. ~Barry SwitzerComment

I understand the disappointment with the new features, and I agree that it is insane that none of them seem to work right for many, many people. Fortunately, my custom playbook does work (I guess I have enough plays/formations) and I haven't experienced any in-game freezing with my offline dynasty (knock on wood).
But the actual gameplay issues you've been outlining have been present in every EA football game. If you can't stand the way the game plays, why did you buy it?
I'm personally enjoying the game. I'm frustrated that one of my ODs is stalled out because of the transfer failed errors, but I can continue my offline dynasty, which I always have more fun with anyway. Like I said, I luckily haven't experienced the game-breaking issues that others have, but I also accept the limitations of the game when it comes to how it handles the on-the-field stuff.
You say that EA caters to people "like you" and I can only assume you mean people who accept the game's flaws, like myself. However, what does that say about someone like yourself who seems to despise how the game plays (and I say again, this game has played this way for the last 10 years) yet you bought it anyway?
I'm truly curious as to what the mindset of someone like yourself is, and why you bought the game if you see so many problems with it that have been in the game for years.Comment

I'm curious as to why you bought this year's game when all of the issues you've laid out have been present in EA football games for the entirety of their existence?

that sounds great, but I have 4 offline dynasties that I got to the end of the year and couldn't get to the offseason. The last one I started with a friend in late August thinking I'd get the patch before the dynasty year ended. Again I got to the end and it couldn't advance no patch... this game is basically broken for me. I bought it for all the new features and I can't use custom playbook, I can't get to the coaching carousel and I can do RTG which I thought they did OK updates for. But I'm very limited in what I can do and completely dependant on EA to help me get to the offseason in 1 of my dynasties.Comment
