That whole "Power Back" with 68 stiff arm and 76 trucking is ridiculous because it seems to happen all the time when recruiting. They need new labels, or more labels.. or again, add tendencies because we all know someone with those stats isn't a "Power Back".--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
I disagree. You SHOULD see some of this stuff occasionally, it just shouldn't be half of the league. Just because someone's 190lbs doesn't mean he can't be stronger then someone who's 225lbs. Just because someone's 245lbs doesn't mean they can truck someone because they can be a back who shy's away from contact (which is why it would be nice if they added tendencies). There are freak athletes that deserve higher ratings in spots that you normally wouldn't see (speed, strength etc).

However, really hoping this new passing system and "read and react" AI for the D.
Bubble screens were useless in '12'.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
hey as long as something ties in to how the whole "read and react" system works for each individual player. My point was that not every player should read and react the same way. There are just some guys who are almost always involved or around the play. I hope EA takes this into account somehow.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
One more thing......I hope they make the ratings more realistic for the player position and weight. Some examples of stuff I SHOULDN"T see:
With that out of the way.....please make the Route Running rating actually MEAN SOMETHING other then determine if a guy slips during rain and snow games. I mean who came up with that dumb idea anyway ? You got a rating for SLIPPING ONLY ? SMH at that BS. Make that rating determine you know actual route running ability.
Same thing with the elusiveness rating.......It should make a player more shifty and harder to bring down.
So I hope they did a ratings over haul as well.
There ratings system will be the same, we know that.
The least they could do is incorporate all the months of hard work/suggestions by folks in the football community.
After dealing with NCAA 12's issues and EA's post-purchase cut throat mantality,
gamers have the right and should nit-pick this game to death.
We should just Get ready for the yearly ratings editing project. "lol"Last edited by khaliib; 03-14-2012, 05:33 PM.Comment

We should just Get ready for the yearly ratings editing project.
I'm starting to get burnt out on all these yearly ratings editing projectssssssssssssssssssssssssss. And I purposely put the extra Ss in there because every time they release a patch, it breaks something else and the whole thing have to be done all over again.
If they simply just play their own game against the CPU, not another human player, they could easily fix damn near all the problems with this series before it even ships. Don't take college degrees or years in the gaming industry to see stuff not working in the series.
Just play ONE game against the CPU and EA will have pages of stuff written down that doesn't work at all or work correctly in this game. Too much catering goes towards the online crowd and because of that, the CPU gets jacked up to compensate for online cheesers who may abuse a certain move or play style.
And the field definitely needs to get bigger. They still using the same field size from the NES and Sega Genesis days where the characters were smaller. Characters are big now with actual full size limbs, therefore the field needs to get bigger.
They need to go to a football field and count how many steps it takes to get from the hash mark to the sideline and time it as well. Then go to the game and see if the steps and time matches up. Million dollars says it don't match up. They should do the same thing, walking from the left hash mark to the right hash mark. Walking from one side line to the opposite side line.
That way they could clearly see the field in NCAA and Madden is too small.Comment

Just to play devil's advocate... I don't know about changing the size of the field. While I do agree that the player-to-field ratio seems to be off, I'm not sure I agree with the whole "they cover 3 yards in a step, that's unrealistic" thing. These guys ARE athletes, after all, all with different stride lengths...jWILLComment

I'm waiting at least a month after the game cones out to see if the patches fixed x and y problem...'12 put a sour taste in my mouth with how terriable the game was when it first came out and the unresponsiveness from EA that immediately followedComment

Realistically though, we won't see this until next gen. There is just no way they could actually do it now. I don't know much about programming but I would think they'd have to do a TON of work with fields and stadiums to get that right.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
Agree 100%. The spread offense isn't as viable in this game because we cannot truly spread the field. Guys can be at the edge of the field in an instant because there is less ground to cover.

Just probably need to tweek field ratio and change a few codes so the CPU recognizes the extended out of bounds.
Bottom line is that this developer leans on the Visuals to sell it's football games.
This alone would ease many of the awkward movements we see during a play.
Everything is moving within such a small box that it's all wacky and we're adjusting their
ratings to get proper animations to perform in a realistic manner.
Still begging for a Broadcast Cam from Madden to be brought over...Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
Playbook #1: Sights & Sounds
The only thing I am interested in is better commentary. The past three years I have turned off the commentary a week into playing where as with NBA 2K11, I still have the commentary on two years later.
Playbook #2: Gameplay
If implemented correctly this could be HUGE!
Playbook #3: Dynasty
As an avid Dynasty player this is something that really excites me. I do hope they add more variation to the development of players and maybe even some regressions of players since you can scout them now.
Playbook #4: Heisman Challenge
I am sure this is exciting to some, but not to me.
Playbook #5: Road to Glory
Every year I try to give RTG another go, but every year I lose interest and stop playing about halfway through my first season at a school.Last edited by cparrish; 03-15-2012, 07:07 AM.BuffEye Rosters available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The most in-depth roster for NCAA 14 and beyond.

Read and react would be huge. This also has to be a part of all aspects of the game, not just the passing game. Getting rid of the psychic DBs and leaping LBs will help. While special teams and the option are not back of the box features, they need work to make the college game seem more authentic and not as much of a Madden port.
A new studio host makes me wonder if Erin Andrews is gone. I don't think commentary is all that bad. Without Lee Corso, the commentary does lack a bit of fun. NBA2k12 is the gold standard for broadcast commentary in a sports game. NHL's combo of Thorne and Clement are great. FIFA's Martin Tyler is great, but the game hinges on whoever his partner is (Andy Gray>Alan Smith). NCAA either needs a 3rd man in the booth or better scripting to get to the level of those three series.Comment

It's so disheartening to come on the internet and read seemingly simple solutions to Madden's ills but have them ignored every year. I get that physics can't be added overnight but things like ratings adjustments, field scaling, better QA, etc, don't seem that hard to address, if they acknowledge the problem. When I read that route running effects who slips in rain and snow, I didn't know whether to LOL or cry out loud.
After 7 years on next-gen consoles, the majority of NCAA and Madden wishlists should be extra stuff, not things core to making virtual football play realistic.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More
Fanboys have already proven they'll put out whatever CRAP EA puts out. NCAA is losing the hardcore sim crowd so it's an easy solution. Your fanboys will buy regardless and if they put out a good product then they'll win us die hards back. Makes sense to me.
Games like The Show and NBA 2k are polishing themselves year after year now, while the NCAA team is too bust still trying to fix broken gameplay and bugs that make the experience awful.GATOR BAITComment
