The best solution for this is to NOT allow you to call any defensive plays. Don't even bring the play call screen up. Instead just call defensive audibles. Audibles are very flexible and have been for years. You can change a play completely, go man, zone, and hot routes. That's more than enough when going up against a no huddle team.

I don't mind it bc it seems kind of realistic.
I DO however mind when the O snaps the ball and the play screen comes up during the play. This has happened to me a few times in about 11 games so far.LSU Tigers

This is only a problem on the PS3Comment

Re: Issues With Lag When Calling Defensive Plays Versus CPU No Huddle
Looks like your right about that. I knew there was a TON of lag for PS3 play calling in general and it looks like that's why it takes forever for it to appear in the no huddle. In the 360 video below you can see it quickly appears as soon as the no huddle is called.

Re: Issues With Lag When Calling Defensive Plays Versus CPU No Huddle
As a software engineer, you should know how easy it is for something to slip through testing on a large complex project.
That said, I do hope they can either find what's causing this and speed up the playcall window or at least slow down the CPU a bit to let us get a play called and make an adjustment or two.
This is I don't care, they will buy it and we will fix it later.Comment

Am I the only one who assumed it was to simulate the defense being out of sorts against the no huddle?NFL:New England Patriots

Re: Issues With Lag When Calling Defensive Plays Versus CPU No Huddle
I'm pretty sure that the point is to simulate what happens to the defense when offenses go no-huddle. That's the entire point of the no-huddle, after all - it's meant to make it extremely difficult for defenses to get set effectively. Audibles do the job well enough to change coverages, call blitzes, etc.
Now, the play-calling menu coming up in the middle of the play is a problem. It hasn't affected me yet, but that's really something EA needs to fix if it persists.Comment

Slip through testing, I can see the facemask glitch, I can see the interception glitch b/c it doesn't happen that often, but not being able to play a half of the game is not something that slips through the crack.

It's clearly a glitch with laggyness of the play calling on the ps3, runs smooth and normal on the 360. Definitely not intended.Comment

No huddle on Defense issue?
In the demo there was the issue with the defense not having enough time to pick a play. It seemed to be fixed during the early release and seemed fine when the retail came out.
Was there an update that got downloaded since last night at 1am? Because I'm playing a game right now and before my call screen pops up for me to pick a play, the ball is being snapped.
I don't understand how something can be fixed and not even exist at 1am, then it appears out of nowhere at 7:45pm the next evening.
Am I missing something? Did my PS3 download a patch without me knowing it?Comment

Re: No huddle on Defense issue?
is everyone on PS3 having this issue? It'd seem like there'd be more of an outrage about it.
On the demo, I had it happen to me once where the CPU snapped the ball before I even had a chance to pick my play. SMH I never had that happen again specifically, but it was like a 1 sec allowance to pick my play.
Has EA even addressed this?Last edited by stoncold32; 07-11-2013, 08:46 PM.Comment

Re: No huddle on Defense issue?
yea ive been getting irritated by the same issue....the play screen will not pop up until the offense has already snapped the ball and when it does pop up it blocks the screen briefly so you cant see what your doing...you would think the QA testers would have caught something that big well before release.NCAAF#1 Nevada Wolfpack
