yeah, I go with the Top 25 at the end of the season. If you beat a team that was #8 to start the year, but went 6-6 and is not ranked anymore then that isn't a quality win. Like with teams B and D they beat ranked teams, but 2 of them fell out in the last couple of weeks.

Re: Anyone want to be apart of my playoff committee?
What was the teams record for team E's second loss? Going 5-0 in the top 25 is exceptional and as jellio stated is of more importance to him which I agree with to a degree, but at the same time a loss to a 7-5 team is a free one but the second loss imo trumps that 5-0 top 25 record unless the 2nd team was in the 9+ win range.Comment

Re: Anyone want to be apart of my playoff committee?
1) Team A: (undefeated power 5 conference champ. DUH!)
2) Team C: (power 5 champ, 11-1, 4 top 25 opponents)
3) Team E: (power 5 champ, 11-2, undefeated against top 25)
4) Team F: (11-1 w/ only loss to #1 team)
5) Team G: (10-2 power 5 team with a good win over #2 team)
6A) Team D: (get in a real conference or at least schedule some top 25 teams. Couldn't decide between Teams B and D)
6B) Team B: (Nothing terribly impressive. Couldn't decide between Teams B and D)
8) Team H: (I can't believe a 9-4 team is even in consideration)
This is the way to go!

Though I am a big fan of quantitative info, and am not a huge fan of this information approach. At a minimum, I would want to see the combined opponent win-loss for each team (available in the "schedules" menu), and the average ranking of each conference (available by clicking on conference prestige in the "my school" section of recruiting). I feel like this adds a lot more color to strength of schedule than just Top-25 record.Comment

Re: Anyone want to be apart of my playoff committee?
Love this thread but we need some more info or at least I do between E and D. Without knowing whom that second loss was to that wasn't in the top 25 it makes it impossible to judge all the variables. Losing a game to a 7-5 team isn't the worst but if the second loss is to a team that only has 8 wins or less they can't be a so called "elite" team. Team d on the other hand is a mystery to me without a conference and what teams they played but sure looks like they handled there business without the horrible upset. Ultimately without seeing the schedule and results of both E and D the book is based off of the vague cover.Comment

For my playoff I did 8 teams.. I do not remmber the records.
East Regional (CFA): #8 Oklahoma (Conference champ no game) vs #3 Miami (ACC Champ)
Midwest Regional (Cotton): # 18 Notre Dame (Wildcard, Highest ranked not in the big 5) vs #1 Mississippi St. (SEC Champ)
South Regional (Capital): #19 Louisville (AAC Champ) vs #2 Auburn (Wildcard.. Highest ranked overall not a conference winner)
West Regional (Holiday): #7 UCLA (PAC 12 Champ) vs #5 Michigan St. (Big 10 Champ)Comment

I can not take credit for that.. I got the idea from TheUofCWildcat.. That is how he had it set up in his tutorial video.. I thought it was a good idea so I tried it out.Comment

Re: Anyone want to be apart of my playoff committee?
In the absence of more advanced Strength Of Schedule (SOS) measures, or even the ability to look individually at each game, I see: Team F lost to the only top team they played. A is undefeated, so I give F credit it was a legitimate loss. But F only played one other top 25 team, and didn't get to even play in a championship game. They only beat one good team their entire schedule.
Team E has two losses, yes, one more than F. But team E played a much tougher schedule, beat 5 good teams, and beat team B who was better than anyone team F played. Even with that extra loss, team E's schedule earned a shot at contention more clearly than F, and E showed more compellingly that it might be really good.
I guess the simplest way to put it is: Team F made the playoff by avoiding losing too much. Team E deserves the higher spot because they've shown they can win.Comment
