Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
I have done a lot of work on custom playbooks in madden and I would go into the audibles section to see the default personnel.. I am beginning to research custom playbooks for NCAA before I dive in. It helps to find these tricks & lessons first. Sometimes a particular starter book helps keep things organized I found in Madden over the years. .I used to use one that had one of each different formation type and keep one of those from the original book rather than deleting and it seemd to cause less glitches.Comment

This. I used the X version and it works just fine. The one with spaces does not.Comment

I was having the same issue with the same book as well as another book. Casey uploaded a new version with X after it. Downloaded that today and it worked.Comment

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
I currently have my custom playbook set up and I’m loving it in my offline dynasty. However it has come to my mind that the cpu never uses a custom playbook and I feel that I’m kind of putting myself at an advantage against the cpu. Has anyone else had similar thoughts? I’ve thought of a workaround for this is to limit the amount of plays and sets to match the avg number of sets that most school’s playbooks have. Just wanted to hear y’all’s thoughts.

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
I make my own books since I usually don't like how EA formats theirs. I also don't fill it with money plays and try to make a semi realistic one. IZ/GT Counter base runs and Verticals/Spot/Smash/Drive as a passing core with all the constraints that EA have added. This leads to my formations potentially have 30 plays but 4 of them are spot concepts from the various motions, 5 are Verticals(IRL plays EA makes separately like Vert Comebacks were route adjustments to me in HS) and there are like 4 IZ plays with jet and orbit motions to dress them up. I also try to get the RB on either side of any shotgun formations I have since it grinds my gears they are treated as 2 unique formations. IRL these are all the same plays and formations with tags so I don't feel bad making customs at all and would love if EA let us manually add motions and shifts next year like they added shells on defense so I don't have to waste play slots and formations to simulate it.Comment

It’s not an “issue”, that just isn’t a feature in the gameComment

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
Have you had any luck running counter? I’ve taken it out of my books entirely and just gone strictly power and trap. I so badly want to run counter because it’s my favorite real life play, but even if I don’t hold turbo with my RB, he’s out running the kick/wrap block 99% of the time. It also feels like his aiming point is the edge not the holeComment

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
You have the ability to set a custom playbook as your user profile's default playbook in the frontend settings menu outside of Dynasty.
From there, whatever playbooks you choose will be your default playbooks at team select in offline and cloud Dynasty and you won't have to choose your custom playbook every single time.
What you can't do is set a custom playbook as your coach's playbook in dynasty, but for most users all that choice is going to change is recruiting roster minimums; i.e. it will have no gameplay effect if you are playing all your Dynasty games. The coach playbook setting will additionally affect sim-only players; it is well established that stock playbook choice greatly affects the output of simulated games (which could be a reason teams are passing the ball so much in simulated games? The vast majority of the playbooks are stuffed with 11-personnel shotgun formations).Comment

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
Working on a custom offensive playbook to be something like a modern version of what Urban Meyer and Tom Herman ran during OSU's playoff run with Cardale Jones at QB. Almost exclusively 11 personnel shotgun. Lots of motion with the slot receiver (Jalin Marhsall for that OSU team) getting him on a jet sweep or in my case in the flat on an RPO. Balanced TE that can be a possession receiver and block in the run game. Deep threat on the outside which was Devin Smith at OSU. All built around strong inside run game like OSU did with Zeke Elliott.Comment

Re: EA CFB 25 Custom Playbook Thread
I keep overstuffing my playbooks. Lol. Torn between concepts. I want downhill running but a lot of the offset gun formations just don’t have all the passing concepts I want. You kind of have to commit to series football in a way, which I don’t mind necessarily but still I want certain passes. Also not sure which formations are four wide (since spread is 11 personnel now)… really wish they had it like 14 where you could see the personnel and all the formations set out in front of you before selecting plays. Also don’t like how much motion wr option has been stripped out of stuff (like trio offset or various pistol formations) but that’s all well and good. Think I’m committing to doing less option, but then I also have a real affinity for RPOs.
Based out of power spread, added some pistol, some
I… those are easy enough to make decisions about but 189 gun formation sets is a lot. Thinking of making a spread I book and an offset book to experiment with some other things I want to mess with.
Was experimenting with the duo sets for a little bit but not sure I utilize them as much more than gadgets.
Think I’m leaning toward doing something more pro spread/multiple (as implied by the pistol and gun) just need to get down from the high 400s in total plays to the 300s. I need to rate more things for game plan because that will make the overall number matter less… much to considerComment

I do think I’m going to make another playbook and limit my book to these concepts and see how that goes. My rule is going to be I need 10 of these concepts in a formation to add it to my book. Hoping there’s maybe 15-20 total formations with these.
