    AZYankees Grandpa Varsity Sliders

Back for CFB 26 Varsity sliders for the 55 and up crowd, though you don't have to live in a retirement community to use them

As mentioned in last years set, I coached HS Football from 1987-2022, so my main focus is getting a set of sliders that looks natural from that perspective, coverage drops, line play, pass rush, etc.

This years sliders are for sure a lot more wonky than last and things like Reaction time play into both pass and run defense, speed parity also makes a big difference in how quick defenders get off blocks and into their run fits. QB accuracy is another thing and the game, even on varsity favors the CPU in this area as well as pass coverage, so it has been challenging to get set that doesn't require great stick skills, but also doesn't make it too easy,

House rule - I do not control any players on defense, I scheme by down and distance and game situation. I allow myself to audible when the CPU goes into hurry up, but outside of that the only adjustments I allow myself to make are:
    1-Coverage shells
    2-Press/play soft
    3-Shift the line

I do not guess plays, except in the last 2 minutes of a half/game, where I will guess pass if the situation warrants, or 3rd and 6+ or 3rd and 1, for a bit more realism. I will also adjust zone depths in the playbook menu at halftime if the CPU is exploiting certain areas of the field, such as in between the flats and outside deep thirds. Also use the sticks adjustment to drop zone depths in 3rd down passing situations, makes the back end stronger.

Thank you! Im only 42, but between getting older and not playing as often as some can, your set were awesome for my style on 25. Looking forward to plugging these in later!

Thank you so much these saved me last year (I’m 27 but I struggle with processing delays & fine motor skills being on the autism spectrum). I will try these out!

Looking at some fine tuning with the tackling slider, which has a bigger effect on the game, outside of just missed tackles than I can remember. I like the animations and organic nature as I play with lower settings, just don't want to turn gameplay into pinball.

Thank you for checking these out, our oldest son is also on the spectrum and he did some testing as well. I would recommend go9ing with the CPU pass coverage at 50 instead of 55, it will smooth out reads for you.

Updated the set in the OP, changes bolded below. Tweaks were all minor, except speed parity what went to 46 from 55. Other tweaks were about getting balance (CPU WR catch and pass pro) and unlocking so animations (tackling), Really happy with the results of this tweaks.

Pleasantly surprised that post patch, only tweaks that may be needed (granted only 2 games thus far) are slight drops to user and CPU pass pro, since pass rush has been toned down. I slight drop to user tackling to further help the CPU run game and maybe a tiny boost to CPU pass coverage, Game plays very smooth post patch though, EA got this one right.

Just to let you know what I experienced every other play there was a minor injury.
like no joke I run a play injury run 2 plays good run another play injury with back to back injuries I think one series I had like 5-6 injuries in a row.
                Also
I feel like I’m getting ALOT OF timely “holding calls” offense of holding and roughing the passer.

just a few observations off the top but I love your sets

I 100% feel you on those timely holdings, it seems I get a lot inside the opponents 40 after a completion. I am going to let those play out a bit more, but taking roughing the passer back to 50 when I add my post patch tweaks later today. On the injuries I get a lot of those minor ones late in the game as players wear down and it is excessive, so going to tweak that as well, That is really frustrating when you are trying to run out the clock too LOL.

Good morning, version 3 is below and the OP will be updated as well. First off, big shout out to Sim Gaming Network on the tip to delete your profile post patch as it makes a huge difference. To do this delete your college profile under files, then immediately close the game, restarting will bring up the terms and conditions screen if done correctly, you can then select your favorite team again and update your profile. All saved dynasty files will be intact.

Made some tweaks with tackling, especially human, to help the run game and also dropped both user and CPU pass blocking a few notches due to the toned down pass rush on varsity. A few other minor tweaks here and there, just 1-3 notches either way, but a lot of the sliders hold up post patch. One other big change was to turn illegal contact penalty off, again shout out to Sim Gaming Network for this tip.

With the 8/6 post patch sliders updated now, I will be tracking results over an extended period of time to make sure they hold up. The game plays really well right now IMO, so hoping that is the last patch for a while. But definitely close to a good mix, winning games I should win, having battles with teams at or around your rating and having issues with much higher rated teams, also good mix of offensive and defensive battles, last game (Playing BYU) was a shoot out with Texas Tech, that I squeaked out, on the heels of a 20-15 loss to Iowa State in a defense dominated game. I may actually start the dynasty over because I am so happy with recent results.

Working to hone these in now starting a new testing dynasty. So far the two things I want to test further are human coverage, which is assuredly coming down and speed parity (dropping it) I have played the first 3 games of the new test and averaging 4.3 sacks a game and I would rather address that with the pass coverage vs pass blocking as the pocket is organic, but CPU QB gets too deep into his progressions at times. One an anomaly with these first 3 games is the ECU game was played in a downpour, their starting QB got knocked out and the backup is a significantly worse passer, though he did hurt me bad with his legs. Game 1 against an FCS team is a big outlier and Stanford is hurting, just couldn't put them away until late. The schedule gets tougher from here as BYU starts Big 12 play.

As I am working to get a balance in sacks, QB accuracy etc, seeing some interesting things on varsity with the settings below for both human and CPU

                          Pass Block at 25
                          WR catching at 50
                          Pass coverage at 25
                          interceptions at 25
                          reaction time at 25

Surprisingly sacks are not out of control at all and maybe just a tad low. QBs feel the pressure and get the ball quickly as receivers have at least a small amount of separation, so the QB has at least small window. QB's will also scramble and move around in the pocket vs just stand and hold the ball. Need a much bigger sample size, but very promising so far and the low reaction rating also helps the run game.

Continuing to get good results with lower sacks and better CPU rushing with reduced human coverage/reaction and CPU PB, hope to have the tweaks locked in by tomorrow, but CPU only giving up 2-3 sacks a game with pass blocking at 25 and the human coverage and reaction reduced

Did you ever finalize the set with the tweaks? Or is OP what your using?

Maybe I missed it, but what are your settings for auto subs?
