Re: canes21 College Football 25 Sliders

I have returned to CFB25 for now and am playing a new Miami dynasty in tandem with my Madden 25 franchise. I've made some slight adjustments to the sliders. Figured I'd share them in case anyone else was still playing the game and may be interested.

With 26 nearing release, I figured I'd hop in here and let anyone who cares know I do plan to get the game at launch and will be doing sliders again. I will be restructuring the way I manage the thread for the 26 sliders so that it is hopefully easier to tell which set is most current and which ones are older sets.

If you guys have any input you'd like to give on what you think I could do better, let me know.

I do plan to take a similar approach as normal with the sliders, which has me testing various things out in practice to see how certain mechanics behave, tuning them to work how I see fit, then rolling with a particular set for a certain amount of games, tracking various stats to compare to real life, then making adjustments based off what the numbers say. I've found this is the way that works best for me. I tend to enjoy the process more this way and letting the number guide me with adjustments allows for the end result to be, what I feel, is accurate to the real sport.

I may be a bit more flexible with my approach this year. Last year I did 10 game sample sizes when ironing out the sliders, and, that's a very nice sample size, but I stayed far too disciplined with it at times and all that did was take up more time than was necessary. For example, if I see I am only averaging 1.6 yards per designed run over a 4-game sample size, I don't need 6 more games to know that's not right. Last year I would have played the 10 games out just to follow the process that I set in place for myself. This year, I will be adjusting things like that a lot quicker initially, then, once things feel right, that's when we lock in for a bigger sample like 8-10 games to see what the numbers say need tweaked.

I also will be tracking all of this in an excel file in some sort of way. I may have each set be its own tab with the samples on their showing the averages vs real life, that way anyone interested can open up the shared file and see every single set and see what adjustments were made based off the numbers, if they want, and can use an older set, mix and match sets, or do whatever they want. I'll already be tracking all of this, so it won't be too much extra work to make it shareable if any of you all would like to see that.

I am pumped for 26. I really hope we see some real improvements in the CPU play and coaching. I'm crossing my fingers CPU play calling has gotten more dynamic, smarter, and more challenging to go up against. I want that chess match feeling with the game. I'm excited to see how well we can get the game playing when it launches. We got 25 playing pretty damn well and I think we can get 26 to potentially even play better with the enhancements EA is making. Give me that, some improved dynasty sim stats, and let's roll.

Canes imo you produced the best Heisman sliders in cfb 25. I haven’t played the game in months but I think the biggest area of improvement would be…

        1. Maybe have different slider sets for wide open games and another set for more defense battles. For example Big 12 games being little to no defense compared to SEC/Big 10 games. Not saying it’s the sliders fault but a lot of games started to play out the same deeper into dynasty

other than that the main slider set played amazingly. Can’t wait for your cfb 26 sliders. Because of your sliders I played 15 years of dynasty. For cfb 26 post your cashapp in the thread 👍🏾

What exactly does the ball hawk and heat seeker do - and why off? Just asking. One thing that happens to me is I will either dive or change player closest to QB and it will end up going to the DB and me diving or giving up big plays bc of it. Or taking the person the wrong way. Is there a setting for that or which one and where should it be?

They're both mechanics there to aid with the user making tackles or going for Interceptions but they cause issues with things like ball carrier logic, so they're better off to help the CPU play better.

Switching to a weird defender is just an issue with the game that can't be fixed on the user's end. It is annoying, but I don’t user switch vs the CPU so it at least doesn't effect me the majority of the time

We obviously don't know how the wear and tear slider values will work at this point, but we've at least seen the settings we can customize.

              image.png

My initial line of thinking is finding a way to get guys slightly banged up after big hits but otherwise fine, making it so the QB that is getting hit is getting banged up, and having the per play and per timeout recoveries pretty low while having the halftime impact noticeably stronger as well as the week to week recovery.

I'd like to find the balance in the system to tune it so that players that get banged up in a game have that linger throughout the half/game, but if the injury is minor they can recover within a week or two meanwhile other more serious injuries do potentially linger for up to the entire season. We've all seen plenty of guys play every game all year but not be 100% due to a lingering injury. Hopefully we can get that replicated in game without causing players to be dinged up left and right at an unrealistic frequency.

I am surprised EA gave us this level of customization, but I am glad they did. My hope is that the CPU does recognize wear and tear and will change their play based on it. It'd be nice to beat up on a QB early and see the CPU work to protect them the best they could. It will also be nice to build a ferocious DL and see them getting to the QB constantly, even if not sacking him every time, and having that wear and tear impact his play. There were hints of that in 25, but I think we can make it more impactful in 26 with these sliders. Overall, I think wear and tear in 25 was very welcome but I do feel it needed a larger impact and now we have a chance to make it have that ourselves.

Overly pumped for this game, but i have to temper my emotions because i gotta wait even longer til you can get the right sliders! LOL. Your sliders last year made CFB 25 so dang fun man. If you need a person to lab work this stuff, im in man.

Canes, based on the gameplay released, you think your sliders from CFB 25 will be a solid baseline? Feel like I’m gonna try it and adjust from there. Curious on what your strat will be.

Too hard to tell. I'll likely start from scratch like I typically do.

I don't know when I'll be picking up CFB 26, but I can comfortably say that your sliders made CFB 25 a wonderful experience that I can easily go back to years down the line. I put in comfortably over 900 hrs in the game since release and most of them have been with your sliders by my side. salute
