    YEAR 3 AWARDS 2016-2017

    Year 3 - 2016-2017

SEC Player of the Year -
    DAVID WILLIAMS (South Carolina)
    >>>> Williams dominated SEC defenses all season despite being the only big threat on the SC offense. Williams won the Heisman trophy after rushing for almost 2,000 yards and 32 tds

    >>>> Runner Up was Ole Miss TE EVAN ENGRAM whi had an amazing record breaking season. 107 receptions, 1329 yards, and 19 TDs
    _________________________
    SEC Coach of the Year
    ERIC STEPHENS (Arkansas)
    >>>> In his first year with the program Stephens was able to win the SEC West, then the SEC Championship over a hot South Carolina team. A very tough task in this tough league.

    >>>> Runner up was South Carolina HC Steve Spurrier. His team was the most dominant during the regular season and his unstoppable running style won David Williams a Heisman trophy.
    __________________________
    SEC Team of the Year
    SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS
    >>>> They were the best team this season on the field despite not being the best team skill wise which was impressive. The lack of talent eventually lost them the SEC Championship but this was still a very tough team.

    >>>> Runner Up was the Arkansas Razorbacks. This team wasnt great but they were clutch. Late game heroics saved them in big games and they came up only 3 points short of a national title

Engram was on pace for something like 28 TD catches until I left.

                      Re: YEAR 3 AWARDS 2016-2017

I'm glad my player won the Heisman. Losing it to that glitch would have been unfortunate.

I don't think my team was the best on the field this year.....although I think they could have been. If we were the best team....then I guess the league had either a down year or the league was super competitive. Anyway, we lost our 3 most important games: (a) we lost our biggest cross division game at home (b) we lost our biggest divisional game and (3) we lost the conference championship game. In the first game against the Aggies, our offense woke up and carried us to three OTs despite giving up two bad turnovers. The defense let me down. In our game against Missouri and Arkansas, we jumped out early with good offensive output.....then the wheels came off the bus.

The offense could have been a little better but I couldn't catch a break on defense in ANY of those games. One of the reasons I keep it close to the vest is that I'm afraid to throw turnovers instead of trusting my schemes....and those doomed me against the Aggies. The defense wouldn't stop the run against any of those three teams and we couldn't generate enough turnovers....even if the ball hit them in the hands. Momentum deflates like a balloon and before ya know it......we have an L in a game we controlled. Feels like my team gave up.

On the other side, my opponents line up with 3 down linemen and beat double teams....stuffing the run with 3 downlinemen and 2 man under.....right. I would kill for that. Not to take anything from my opponents ofc but who doesn't feel like they should have won a game they lost? I've played the Aggies and Missouri enough to know their tendencies (and I'm sure they know some of mine) but that doesn't mean anything if we let the HB shed a blocker in the backfield, get upfield and fall forward on top of two tacklers for a 7yrd gain. Or stopping a HB in the backfield on 4th and goal and having him run through the linebacker and the DT. Or swatting a pass in zone coverage when you catch your opponent hitting one of their favorite routes. we could go on but everyone's seen that stuff lol.

Those losses bothered me and it hurt even more when Arkansas lost to Oregon in the title game. I was so close to quitting lol. The "over the top rules" are a pain but throw on those losses and it makes quitting so much more attractive. I think JE is a good commish and that helps pull me toward staying.

It was a failed year. Hopefully my recruits can make an impact. I might have to recruit run stoppers all across the front 7. Not sure what else to do.

                      Season 3 rant over.
