Alabama.Rivals.SEC
Alabama looks to right the ship this season and eliminate costly turnovers that plagued the team last season.
At QB there is a 2 way battle for the starting job between Jerrell Dorsey (Sr) and Red shirt junior Joe Coles.
At running back it looks like Senior Aaron Williams will again get the bulk of the carries, but Coach Hogan did not rule out finding ways to get Sophmore Kyle Dunn the ball on the edge. Dunn has shown explosive speed and acceleration during the summer and Hogan is not afraid to use him in certain packages.
Hogan said that Williams needs to improve between the tackles as he (Williams) averaged 3.7 ypc last year, the lowest of any back Hogan has coached. If Williams does struggle Alabama will have plenty of choices at the position as they are carrying 6 RB's on the active roster.
The Linebacking core will have freshman starting at both outside linebacker spots but the key to their defense is in the middle as they return two All American potential defensive tackles in Senior Stanley Ingraham and Senior David Massey.
The safeties are another strong point for the Tide with two all conference potential starters in Senior Phillip Carter and All Conference Senior (2017) Mike London.
Coach Hogan stated that the Tide have to get better in year two defending the pass, and offensively they need to win more on first down if year 2 is to be a success.

Alabama finished the first full season under Coach Hogan with a respectable 10-3 record.
2018 was Alabama's first 10 win season since 2012.
Defensively Alabama shined and helped start a path of success.
Defensive Stats
Passing Defense #11
Rushing Defense #3
Total Defense #1
Points Allowed #1
They also reached their goal of winning more on 1st and 2nd down as they finished #4 in 3rd down conversions.

Re: Alabama.Rivals.SEC
2019 looks to be a year of fresh faces for Alabama. Many first time starters and a battle at the QB position for the second year in a row have many skeptics wondering if Alabama can get to 10 wins again.
David Johnson (SR) looks to battle true freshman (#1 QB in the nation) Nick Gonzales for the signal caller roll.
Offensively the Tide will have 10 first time starters making it shaky at best about expectations.
Defensively things aren't much better as only 3 starters return to one of the best defenses of 2018.
Look for Alabama to take a step back this year as 8 wins looks like a good season in Tuscaloosa.
