Re: ACC
Miami is coming off of a 9 win season that felt like a disappointment. That says alot about where the program is heading because compared to recent years 9 wins is a good season, but this team is expecting more this season.
OFFENSE:
This offense has been lead by Mark Walton the past 2 seasons and basically went as far as he carried them, but at the end of last season he got some help from Evan Shireffs, the then RS FR QB who stepped in and played like a vet. This year its Evans team. Shireffs is rated the #4 QB in the nation and this will likely be his last season in a Canes uniform because the NFL wants him bad. The WR core is intact and a speedy bunch that should be more sure handed than a year ago. Herndon the breakout TE is off to the NFL but the Canes are confident in their 2 athletic JRs as weapons. Waltons backups should be better than last year with the experience but Miami is glad to have Walton still carrying the bulk of the load. The Oline is solid but could struggle in the big games. If they can protect Shireffs the Canes offense will be a force.
DEFENSE:
The Canes biggest struggle the past few seasons has been in the secondary. They have killed it in recruiting getting some of the best DBs in Florida and a few out of state but fortunately the Canes wont need them yet. The core group that struggled started to click at the end of last year and now the Canes will have all Seniors and RS Juniors in the secondary which should make a huge difference. The LBs are led by All American Shaq Quarterman in the middle and his surrounding class is solid but nothing outstanding. The Dline, much like the secondary, is a veteran group and has veteran depth as well so this could be the year that the whole defense takes that next step on all 3 levels.
OVERALL:
Miami has a schedule that looks to be very manageable if they can play with the consistency that theyve lacked the past 2 seasons. They've been good against good teams but have let down against teams they should beat. 8 home games also gives them no excuse. Here's a look at their schedule with predictions:

Re: ACC
Miami finished 8-5 last season in a year that they expected to compete for a conference title. Overall this was just another typical year for a program that has continued to underachieve expectations year in and year out. Whether those expectations are realistic or just because of the U on the helmet is questionable however this year's team should at least be better than last years.
OFFENSE:
The leader of this team is undoubtedly Senior QB EVAN SHIRREFFS who is now in his final season with the Canes and still hoping for an ACC title before he leaves. Shirreffs is a pure passer who can lead this team when given the chance. Last year we saw a passing game that often deferred to the running game because of the defensive struggles which put Shirreffs in alot of forced passing situations. This year with Walton gone and a deep experienced WR core the passing game becomes priority. TRAVIS HOMER is the only back with any experience so the running game is questionable going in but Homer does have speed so he will be a threat in the pass game too to get him going. The WR core is lead by AHMMON RICHARDS who has been the big playmaker for the Canes since he arrived on campus. Richards may or may not lead the Canes in receptions because they spread the ball but when they need a play he's been their guy. 3 SRs and 2 RS JRs at WR and a deep core of TEs lead by MICHAEL IRVIN III should give the passing game alot more consistency. The oline is solid but not special, all they want to do is keep Shirreffs on his feet and in the game and they'll be happy.
DEFENSE:
The Canes defense has been pretty solid the past 3 years every where expect one unit.. the secondary. Canes fans are tired of the same old story, most of the Canes losses in the past 3 season happened because a 4th quarter let down in the secondary. Last year the Canes hoped things would be better because the guys they had coming back were more experienced but sometimes experience alone doesnt change anything. This year the Canes will have 2 new starters in the secondary, FR RS CB DARRICK STRONG and FR RS FS STEPHEN COLEMAN. Both were ranked #1 at their positions coming out of high school and have the physical skills to turn things around. They both could have played last year but agreed to sit out and now they are ready to wreck havoc. SR SS ROMEO FINLEY is the big hitter in the secondary and the most experienced, he will have to be a vocal leader for this group. The linebackers are a trio of SRs who have started all 4 seasons and expect to dominate in their final season together. SHAQ QUARTERMAN is the leader of this defense and an All-American. We know what to expect from the dline, they go as the team goes meaning when the momentum is on the Canes side they can really take over games.
OVERALL:
The Canes will go as far as Shirreffs takes them. Last year he played awful in the clutch, they need Soph Shirreffs back but in Senior form. The seconday will be the biggest question mark for ths defense just because they are unproven but if they are as good as advertised that will take the pressure off of the offense and allow Coach Junior to do what he does best and thats keep DCs on their toes. This is the most overall talent Miami has had on a roster this decade and they have experience where it matters. The bar will stay high for the Canes who open against the defending national champs, and have to get over the hump against FSU, UNC, and GT.

ACC
Miami is coming off of their best season yet under Coach JE Junior with a record of 11-2 in a brutal conference that saw 5 total teams win 10 or more games, but no one in this program was satisfied. The standards in Miami are back up to where they used to be: ring or bust. This years Canes team will look almost identical on offense only losing a WR and a RG, but they will have to replace 7 starters on defense. The Canes are hoping that their youth on the defensive side of the ball isnt their downfall. If things do get shaky this could be an offense that can finally carry the team with so much veteran leadership.
Offense:
Canes offensive MVP will either be SR QB Evan Shirreffs or there will be no ring. He has to get over the hump. The fanbase has labelled him Golden Boy which has a double meaning: on one hand he is the prototypical QB with the arm, smarts, experience, and look of "the guy".. on the other hand he is one of the last remaining players recruited by Al Golden before his departure. Canes fans are waiting to see which he will be.
The backfield returns Travis Homer who was injured for most of last season along with Soph Mark Ryan who had a great freshman campaign. The WRs are deep with only SRs and JRs playing who can all stretch the field. Deejay Dallas and Jeff Thomas should have huge seasons. The TEs and Oline are both solid units who just need to play to their ability for this team to do well.
Defense:
This defense has alot of talent but the youth is an increasing concern. The dline should be just as good as last year with Patchan, Carter, and Cook all leading the way as upperclassmen. The LB core starts 3 new guys: a JR with some experience, a JR new to the position, and a true freshman. There will be a learning curve for the start of the season and the better teams on the schedule could give Miami trouble. UCLA in the opener will challenge them with matchups, Nebraska following has the best backfield in the country, FSU will challenge them physically, and GT will challenge them mentally. The speed of their growth will be key.
The secondary is young as well but this is the most skilled group on the defense with Strong already playing the role of lockdown corner and Coleman is the next great Safety at Miami. The rest of the secondary just lacks experience but Miami is hoping they follow the lead of Strong and Coleman.
Overall:
Canes are predicted to have a showdown at the end of the year against Clemson in the ACC Championship if things play out like they should. The Canes want that matchup and feel like they should be playing for 2 rings this season. Time will tell, it starts with a pair of tough non conference games but that FSU game is the big one. All eyes on Shireffs.Last edited by JEJunior; 08-12-2017, 10:39 AM.Comment

Re: ACC
MIAMI HURRICANES 2022 SEASON PREVIEW
OFFENSE:
The Canes are entering this season with a familiar backfield but a not so familiar receiving core. Last year was supposed to be the year things clicked followed by the explosion, we saw the click even with running back injuries all season long, but the question now is will we see the explosion. Wilkerson will get the start again this year and if he can just cut down on his interceptions from last year they'll be fine. He has Mark Ryan back at RB who is this offenses leader and Moore is expected to have a breakout year as well. This backfield looks eerily similar to when Portis and Davenport used to run the show. The offensive line should be the best we've seen under Junior so that just leaves the WR core. This is the only question mark on the entire team. Thomas and Dallas are gone but Thomas was supposed to be the focal point. Now they have 2 undersized WRs as their main guys and no experience or real explosion behind them. Speed yes but not the big play type guys just yet.
Defense:
The star of the defense is their All American DE Chris Carter who led the ACC in sacks last year. In the middle is Cook who is the only experienced DT on the roster but he makes enough plays for 2 guys. The rest of the dline and LB core are solid. Berg is expected to have another good year at OLB which he'll need because there is nothing but youth around him. The secondary lost 2 super stars last year to the draft and their departure could be the most noticeable. While Miami does like their secondary and what they could possibly do this year those kids were elite. Coleman is by far the closest thing Miami has had to Sean Taylor and they were anxious to see his ceiling.
Schedule:
Miami's schedule is even tougher than last years. They will play only their second game in Week 4 and it will be against the defending champion Nebraska Cornhuskers, followed by the team they faced in the ship, who is also the team that put up nearly 50 on Miami last year. After that they play Arkansas who is expected to finish top 15, #13 UNC, and #22 FSU. As tough of a stretch as you'll see in America. There is only one game realistically that they can probably afford to sleep through, and that would have been 2 games but Duke hired a new coach who will have that program turned around. Miami is a team that usually shows up for the big games and falls asleep in the surprise games, fortunately their schedule is full those. Im predicting 10-2 but a conference ring this year.Comment

Re: ACC
MIAMI HURRICANES 2023 SEASON PREVIEW
The Canes looked like a restored program last year and were 1 game away from a national championship despite having the country's toughest schedule. This year will not be any easier as Miami will hold the toughest schedule yet again. FSU, Miami's most hated rival, owned Miami last season. In 2 meetings the Canes dropped both to the Seminoles with the second coming in Miami's first ever ACC Championship appearance. The Canes accomplished alot last year including their star RB winning the Heisman trophy and the team winning the Rose Bowl, but those were overshadowed by 2 losses to FSU. This year the Canes have the 3 goals that never seem to change: conference title, national title, and beat Florida State.
OFFENSE
The Canes offense was phenomenal last season but they have a few guys to replace that will be tough. Mark Ryan, the Canes Heisman trophy winning Running back, is the work horse for this team. He is the #1 rated back in all of college football and he is projected to have an even better season this year. While Ryan is the best player on the team, Brian Wilkerson is the most valuable. Wilkerson had a better season than his first year starting but he still needs to improve in the big games to get Miami over that hump. He lost his top targets from a year ago and will have all new WRs to throw to this year with only one being an upperclassman in Liston, every other receiver on the roster is a RS FR or a FROSH. The Canes will need new playmakers to emerge as soon as Week 1. Ryan Taylor, the 6'5 JR at TE, will likely be the go to guy after a breakout season last year. The bright spot to this team who will be looking to gel is a strong oline that should make life easier for both Wilkerson and Ryan in the backfield.
DEFENSE
Defensively Miami is in a similar situation as the offense. On offense Miami is breaking in a new WR core, on defense they're breaking in a new secondary. For the second straight year they've had starters leave early or transfer so they're paper thin right now. Only 7 total DBs return between all 4 positions, that will be the #1 thing to watch going into the year. Fortunately one of those 7 is SR CB Matt Lynch, who will be the 1st CB taken in next years draft. The Canes have some talent its just the depth. At LB they have too emerging stars in SO Scott Harvey and JR Quinton Rogers. Rogers is the most versatile player on this defense and almost ended up starting at SS because of depth issues but the Canes moved a corner over instead. The dline lost 2 great players to the NFL so they will also be looking for a new guy to step up.
OVERALL
Miami will be in their second year in this new offense which should reap great benefits. If they can find some consistency in the offense and get some of the young guys to play up they have a chance but it wont be easy. They have games against #8 Florida, #12 Baylor, #22 Clemson, #4 FSU, and Georgia Tech, all games that could go either way. I think this team took a big step last year and it will come down to another ACC Title matchup against a hungry slightly better FSU team.Comment

ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Louisville vs #4 Miami
Miami wins their first ever ACC Championship since joining the conference in a season that saw them only lose 1 game all year to FSU. The Canes would go on to win the Orange Bowl 17-7 over Baylor, a U5 team lead by Archy. Miami finished the season 13-1 and ranked #4.

Re: ACC
MIAMI HURRICANES 2023-2024 PREVIEW
A year ago the Canes knew they had something special but they werent sure of just how special. The team that was expected to be "better" went 13-1, won the ACC for the first time ever, beat a very good Baylor team in the Orange Bowl, and would have competed in the Championship if they had ANY type of luck go their way. This year the team isnt as good on paper but the goals have been raised regardless. This is the U.
OFFENSE
Miami will be lead undoubtedly by their SR QB Brian Wilkerson who came back for one more year with 2 goals still left to accomplish: beating FSU as a starter and a National Championship, anything less is a failure. Wilkerson lost his #1 target, the breakout TE who elected to leave early. This year it looks like it will be a young WR core who is still looking for a legit go to and it may end up being JR Larry Moore, the 6'4 223lb WR who is hoping to be that guy. He impressed last year and changed his number from 15 to 1 saying he wanted the challenge. The oline is the best Miami has had since 2001 when Clean Jersey Dorsey was the man, they're hoping this group can do the same for Wilkerson. It will be a challenge replacing RB Mark Ryan, the 2 time Heisman winner, but the Canes feel that they can do it as a group. The speedy Soph Marcus Ward could end up getting the bulk of the carries if he can prove to be consistent because he is the definition of explosive.
DEFENSE
Miami's defense is usually lead by one of their LBs and they have a great playmaking group coming back this year, but THE leader is their JR Safety Jason Weisbecker. This kid is the next great Safety at the U and he can make plays from any where and finish them. Last year he finished with 62 tackles 7 int and a pick 6. He will need to be the guy because they have 3 new starters in the secondary. The Dline is an area that they feel should be tough as well. They have some experienced guys but just lack depth.
OVERALL
The Canes have some huge games this year that will test them but they have the guy they want leading them at QB and they feel like if he can stay healthy this team can exceed last years season and finally get back to the Natty.

Re: ACC
MIAMI HURRICANES 2024-2025 PREVIEW
Last year was a failure for Miami. The team had too much talent too finish the way they did and the choke against Bama to start the year kept them out of the ship even if they did win out. The Canes lost alot of talent to the draft and had they stayed this may have been the best team Junior has put on the field. Alot of new faces will see playing time this year and that means alot more questions than answers.
OFFENSE
Last year the season was on Wilkerson's shoulders coming in but it ended up being Marcus Ward the young running back who really carried the team on his back. He returns for his JR season and Canes fans expect him to continue to play above his ability. Ward could very well end up being one of the best backs to ever come through Miami and this is after Miami had a Heisman RB 2 years ago in Mark Ryan. Andy Potts will start at QB replacing Wilkerson and the coaches believe he will replace Wilkerson with no problem. He got the most action of his career in the Fiesta Bowl and it didnt go well but his talent was evident. The Canes top WR from last year Moore bolted to the NFL so the go to guys will be Hines the SR TE and Ferguson, the fastest of the WR core who will need to step up and be the go to guy for Miami.
DEFENSE
The Canes defense has ALOT of questions coming into the year. So many people left that the Canes are forced to play a number of true freshman at key positions. The secondary will be lead by Weisbecker who is arguably the best Safety in football but the rest of the secondary which will be a rotation of 5-6 will be getting their first starts this season. That is the biggest concern for Miami who for the 3rd year straight will need to replace key guys back there. The LB core is the most solid unit on the whole team this year lead by Harvey at MLB who may also be the best in the country at his position. The DL will have talent but not experience as 2 Frosh will be in the mix as well as Fowler who moved over from MLB. He would have backed up Harvey but he is a flat out baller the coaches need their best guys on the field this year more than ever.
OVERALL
The young guys and the schedule will be key this year for Miami. They cant afford to get into shootouts with teams so the defense will need to find a way to make it work despite the inexperience. They will face FSU as usual and this year Texas will be on the schedule and those 2 games are concerns. FSU has owned Miami up until last year and Texas is the exact type of offense that can destroy Miamis secondary if the young guys look like young guys. If they get past those games then it falls back to the ACC Championship where they have been awful.Comment

Re: ACC
#4 Miami vs #14 FSU
ACC Championship
In a tough physical game the Hurricanes finally knock off FSU in the ACC Championship. The Canes who lost the first matchup earlier in the year got pay back and captured their second ACC title under Junior. Ward carried the load and personally wanted a better performance against the Noles after having such a poor performance the first time around. Ward sealed the win with a huge 55 yard run in the 4th almost giving him a 2nd td. Weisbecker also had a huge play with a pick 6 that gave Miami the lead in the second half. The Canes defense was solid again minus the few broken plays.
Miami falls short of a national championship but is happy to have their first ACC Ship win against FSU. Canes looking forward to seeing who they'll go bowling against.

Re: ACC
2025-2026 Miami Hurricanes Season Preview
The defending ACC Champions enter this season with high hopes and high expectations, something that will never change at the U. Miami's been the victim of early departures and racing to replace them but this year they brought in the #1 class and did just that. They have depth and a solid core of young kids who can step in right away and have an impact. The Canes will start 3-4 total true freshman on offense and 2 on defense. The biggest hype from all the freshman since spring camp has been QB Jeff Dawson, the top overall QB in the country from Clearwater Florida. Dawson is a dual threat QB who has Canes fans raving.
OFFENSE
The Canes have officially announced that Jeff Dawson will get the keys to offense to start the season. They feel like his arm is better than they expected and he has leadership qualities that give the team and coaches confidence in him. He has the potential to be the guy that gets Miami over the hump. Beside him in the backfield is a former #1 rated RB Soph Craig Coleman. Coleman has huge shoes to fill with Ward leaving early and that will be no easy task. Coleman hasnt shown the same explosion as Ward and the Canes will need that run game this year. The WR is deep with talent but their go to guys are Feguson and Gore. Ferg was the guy last year but sat most of the year with an injury and Gore was buried on the depth chart emerged as a next level playmaker as well. The Canes also added the top 2 TEs from the 25' class who will both be on the field day one. The Oline for Miami looks championship ready with the #1 G from last year starting along side 4 talented vets. Last year the Canes were run first with Ward in the backfield but with Dawson and this supporting cast it could be a high powered offense if they can click.
DEFENSE
Last year Miami hit a point in the season where their defense went from tough elite. They lose last years National Defensive Player of the Year in LB Chris Smith, 2 starting DTs, 2 more LBs who were just as valuable as Smith, and one of the best Safeties Miami has had in a while in Weisbecker. This year's defense will have 8 new starters and can only hope to carry the momentum from last year. The Dline has some talent and it starts with Fowler. The Canes were so deep at LB last year they moved him from MLB to DE, and while he had a good year the Canes need him to be the leader of this defense in his senior season. The LB core is young. 2 true freshmen, 1 true soph who barely played last year and 1 vet who is starting for the first time. Miami will see a drop off but Junior coached teams usually get good production from that group. The secondary is led by true soph CB Joseph Hayden who led the Caned with 5 picks last year. Opposite of him is SR CB Bo Spencer who has NFL potential but hasnt made the leap in his play yet.
OVERVIEW
This season looks to be a flip from last year where the team leaned heavily on the defense. They have alot of young guys on both sides of the ball that can make or break the season. I think that if Dawson is as good as advertised the Canes offense can play at a level we havent seen in a while. Junior runs the defense so they just have to gel as a group, there probably wont be a true star this season on that side of the ball.
Prediction:
The Canes weapons on offense make them a national contender if the defense can keep up. We could see another 2 matchups against FSU again and I like the Canes to win at least the 2nd when they've found their groove with the young guys. 12-2Comment

Re: ACC
2025-2026
ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
#1 Miami 12-0 (9-0) vs #22 Wake 9-3 (7-2)
Miami wins their 3rd ACC Championship in the last 4 years and will play in their first BCS Championship Game under Junior.
1st Qtr
Wake Forest came out of the gates establishing the tempo for the game with their triple option attack as their FB took it 73 yards to the house on the 2nd play from scrimmage. Miami would answer with an impressive drive through the air as the Wake defense made it clear that Coleman would not beat them on the ground tonight, although he did finish the drive in the endzone. 7-7. Wake gets their offense going again and is looking unstoppable as they get back in the endzone to make it 14-7.
2nd Qtr
Canes still cant find any success on the ground but trust Dawson enough to give him the keys and he hits Jones the big speedy WR on a 54 yard bomb to tie it at 14. Wake is back it at and will not be stopped, 19 yard td on another option gives them a 21-14 lead with 3 minutes left. Canes stall and give it back to Wake who scores a fg with 0:38 on the clock, 24-14. Miami hits Jones again with a 50 yd pass in one on one and a 24yd td pass to Jones to end the half down 3. 24-21 Wake.
2nd half
Canes look to take their first lead of the game with the little momentum they have but they stall and have to give it back. Wake gets into the redzone but forces a bad pass that Miami SS Woods picks off in the endzone. Canes take it all the way down the field but get stopped on 4th and 1 at the goalline going for the lead. Canes hold them and take advantage of the short field finally getting the ground game going as Miamis power back Cooper cleans up the drive giving Miami their first lead with 3 minutes to go. Canes hold the run for 2 plays and come up with a second int on 3rd and long. Canes are able to run out the last 2 minutes on the ground and win 28-24 holding Wake scoreless in the 2nd half.

Re: ACC
2026 BCS CHAMPIONSHIP
1 Miami vs 2 Alabama
Tempe Arizona, Fiesta Bowl
1ST
Miami opens the game with Coleman dominating on the ground, 11 play drive takes up half the qtr and ends in 7.
Murphy responds dominating his own drive as it looks like a matchup between the 2 Hiesman candidates, but Murphy has the ball knocked out and the Canes recover on the 1.
7-0 Miami
2ND
Bama forces an interception on Dawson that leads to a 2 play drive and TD by Smith. Dawson is picked again on the next 2 consecutive drives and Bama turns all 3 turnovers into points. 13-7 Bama.Canes get 3 before the half.
13-10 Alabama
3RD
Canes force a punt with back to back sacks but Bama forces a 3 and out. Murphy hits Brown on a slant that goes for 80 after he hurdles a Miami defender.Canes down 20-10 halfway in the qtr look to Dawson to finally get things going but he throws yet another interception. Bama takes over and Carter gets a clean hit on Smith to give Miami the ball back.
Dawson leads a drive capped off by a 1yd Cooper TD. 20-17 Bama.
4TH
Bama starts driving again but Spencer picks off Murphy to end the drive.Canes go back to Coleman and kicks off the drive full speed as Cooper cleans it up with another goalline TD. Canes 24-20.
Murphy picks up where he left off and dissects Miami's defense who is hoping to hold Bama to 3, but a broken tackle gives Murphy a go ahead TD with 2:41 to go. 27-24
Canes mix in the run and pass, not losing faith in Dawson who now has 0tds and 4ints, one more and thats game. Miami gets in scoring range on 4th and 1 and can tie it for OT but they gamble and get the yard. 0:16 Dawson hits Ferg across the middle but Bama tips it out of his hand. 0:13 Dawson finds the gap in the zone on the outside and finds Burton for the 31-27 lead.
Bama has 10 seconds left and they throw a bomb over Miamis defenders, its a TE so Miami runs him down, he breaks a tackle but the last defender appears to pull his facemask......... no call, no time, game over, Miami wins it 31-27 with Dawson completing his only TD pass on a game winning drive.

2026-2027 MIAMI HURRICANES SEASON PREVIEW
The Canes have finally reached the pentacle of college football again winning their 6th National Championship. Coach Junior adds his name to an elite group at the University of Miami, Rivals football, and college football history. It was a crazy season full of late game heroics led by a true freshman QB by the name of Jeff Dawson who is already a legend to Cane fans around the country. That chain of comebacks helped Miami reach the National Championship and defeat the Alabama Crimsons Tide, giving the Canes 21 straight wins. The season was magical but the question now is whats next? Was it just a crazy year? Will they continue the streak? Is Miami really back or was that the perfect storm? Here's a look at the 2026 Miami Hurricanes.
OFFENSE
• Impact Players
QB Jeff Dawson 7 SO
HB Craig Coleman 3 JR rs
LT Lance Goins 77 SR rs
8/11 starters returning
The Canes offense should be impressive this year as long as no one takes steps backwards. That starts with Dawson at QB who had an incredible freshman campaign, but there have been a number of great freshman in history who hit the dreaded sophomore slump. Dawson will have a Coleman in the backfield with him again who automatically takes alot of the pressure off of him. Coleman had a strong Heisman campaign last year and is expected to be even better this year. The WR core will look different but these kids have just been waiting on their moment. Gore is the leading WR from last year but SR rs J Walker and FR rs David Clemons have had freakishly good fall camps. If those 3 can produce along with the TE tandem that was great as true freshmen Miami's offense will be beautiful. The oline is one of the best the year and is led by Lance Goins who the Canes were blessed to have return for his SR season. He will be the anchor for the run and pass for Miami. The offense's biggest loss from a year ago was a pair of speedy WRs who stretched the field but the Canes appear to have found their speedsters.
DEFENSE
• Impact Players
FS Chris Carter 23 SO rs
MLB Kyle Joyce 52 JR
CB Joseph Hayden 1 JR
8/11 starters returning
The defense returns most of their core group with the exception of one DB and 2 defensive linemen. The secondary will be fine but losing Fowler at DE is going to hurt only because of how dynamic he was as a pass rusher. The dline overall shouldnt see much drop off if they can make up for Fowlers pass rush production in the clutch. The LB group is young but they have alot of high profile game ready kids so this group should be better than last year off of experience alone. Joyce stepped up and emerged as the leader towards the end of the year so his numbers should go up the most. The Canes are excited about the secondary after a year of growing pains. They return all 4 starters and the CB room goes about 6 deep starting with Hayden who had a monster FR year and wants to get back to that this year. Carter had a huge year as a FR rs at FS and he is already the leader of the secondary. There is a 3rd safety that may be thrown into the mix with Anderson, a 6'5 210 pound athlete who can hit. The Canes want him on the field.
OVERALL
Miami likes the team it has and their potential. They love the leaders that they have on both sides of the ball and feel that there wont be any drop off from a year ago. The talent plus a favorable schedule has Canes fans drooling at the possibility of a repeat. We'll see if they can make history.
PREDICTION
13-1
Canes were walking the edge alot last year. The clutch performances were amazing but having to keep that up will give Junior grays overnight. That being said they return so much that there are more answers than questions which how you love to start any season.Comment

Re: ACC
2026 ACC Championship
#13 Miami vs #14 Louisville
These teams met in Charlotte for 2 year in a row and for a rematch from earlier this season where Louisville kept it close but Miami broke away at the end. As Breezy looked to get his first ACC Championship and his first win against Junior this time around Louisville dominated the game from start to finish.
Miami would start the game with the ball but generated zero momentum. After quickly giving it to Louisville Miamis breakout LB Joyce got his 7th interception of the year.
Canes offense still struggled but took a 3-0 lead. Louisville completed a 40 yard pass with Miamis DB not making an attempt at the ball then 2 plays later a post route in between the safeties went for a 37yd TD.
The Canes marched all the way down the field only to have a wide open pass dropped in the endzone on 3rd and goal so they took the points on 4th to make it 7-6 Louisville. After a 3 and out Miami gets it back and Dawson is intercepted on a post route that the corner jumped.
Louisville takes advantage of the momentum and lack of effort and throws a corner route to a covered WR but this CB doesnt make a play on the ball either. 14-6 Louisville.
Miami goes no huddle and all Dawson and end the drive with an 18 yard dot to the back of the endzone as Dawson finds Walker, the teams playmaking WR. 14-13 Louisville.
With 2:30 left in the half Louisville takes it all the way down and extends the lead before the half with the ball coming back to them after the half. Craig goes untouched. 21-13 Louisville.
Louisville picks up where they left off in the second half and gets whatever they want but the Canes hold them to 3 instead of 7. 24-13 Louisville. Canes go back to the no huddle attack and Dawson finds Gore in a blown coverage. Miami doesnt get the 2pt conversation. 24-19 Louisville.
Louisville throws a bad pass on 3rd and gives it back to Miami quick on an interception.
Canes get 4th and goal again this time from the 2, Louisville does what the Canes feared the first time and stuffs them with 5 defenders in the backfield.
As the 4th quarter starts Smith throws a 3rd int to Miami in great field position. Canes again have to settle for 3 however, 24-22 Louisville.
Louisville goes 3 and out and has to punt, Coleman gets 20 on the return with 4:30 remaining. Miami patiently moves the ball until a 4th down cuts the drive short. The Canes go bold and go for it and Walker comes up big again taking a 7 yard pass down to the 2yd line.
UL is out of timeouts so Miami can kneel and take the FG or pound it to stretch the lead, for some reason they stretch the lead with Sims giving UL a minute to score.
Cards down 29-24 need a fg and work it down with big plays but Miami makes back to back sacks to end the game and give them a 29-24 win.
