BIG 12 2018-2019
OU and Texas Tech have dominated the conference the past few years and with Tech losing their coach the Sooners became the clear favorite. OU ended up having a mediocre year and Baylor who went out and hired coach Ken Dorsey got everything they could ask for and more. The Bears ran through the conference going undefeated for the season. They were ranked #3 in the country going into conference championship week and after #2 Ohio State got upset the Bears secured a spot in the BCS National Championship against #1 North Carolina. The Bears would go on to beat UNC 31-30 in OT in a thrilling game giving the Bears and Ken Dorsey their first National Championships respectively. Baylor also got their 2nd Heisman trophy winner ever in RB Terence Williams.

Re: BIG 12
Baylor's JaMycal Hasty won the Heisman trophy this year. Hasty finished the year with 326 carries, 2147 yards and 27 touchdowns. With Hasty winning the Heisman this year, it gives Baylor back to back Heisman winners.Comment

Rumor Mill is Spinning
Stories are spreading across the conference of coach Rico Suave seeking a new job if offered. He has been at SMU for 6 years, and recently signed a 6 year extension. He was able to get his team selected for a move from the AAC to the Big 12. In his time in the Big 12 he was able to lead the SMU Mustangs to 2 winning seasons, with the most recent one bringing them into the Top 25 rankings. With an upcoming bowl game, let's hope this rumor doesn't affect the attitude of the players moving forward.Comment

Re: BIG 12
Texas 2025/26 offensive preview: With the departure of star Qb W.Gonzales to the pros, this is first time Coach Dorsey has to name a new starting Qb at Texas. Gonzales isn't easy to replace either, he led the nation in passing yards and was near the top in td's thrown the last 2 years. We've heard from Coach Dorsey today that he's named highly recruited true freshman Jermaine Yates as the starter. Yates is out of Turlock, California and enrolled early at Texas for a chance to play early. Sophomore Rb R. Smith is still the starting Rb. Smith was a true freshman last yr and started 9 or 10 games. In the Texas offense after Qb, the WR position is probably the most important position. Outside of J.Cummings the JR WR who has basically been a starter since he was a true freshman, the #2, #3, #4 Wr's all have question marks around them. Kane the #2 Wr is a former JUCO recruit who has problems catching the ball. #3 and #4 Wr's are both former highly recruited recruits with Mckinley being the #1 WR recruit and Moore being the #5 WR in the same class. Both are RS freshmans and have never played a down of college football. Texas does have a very good TE in SR Tate but like Kane, he drops the ball too much. Oline lost 3 starter's so we'll see how the new guys play. Especially the true freshman at LT. Texas is thin at OL, thanks to the former coaching staff, so any injury will be huge. Defense preview will be out shortly.Last edited by Archsmith99; 03-03-2018, 12:04 PM.Comment

Re: BIG 12
Texas 2025/26 Defensive preview: The defense should be the teams strength this season. Dline is led by M.Mongomery, who is now a 3 year starter at RE. Texas did lose 2 great DT's to the pros and will have 2 new starters there. With LB M.Walker leaving sophomores D.Rich and A.Huffman, will now both be full time starters at LB. They both split time at MLB last year. Rich is now the starting LOLB and Huffman at MLB. To everyones surprise LB D.Johnson decided to return for his senior season. Johnson is the leader of the defense and last season led the nation in tackles with 104. In the Big 12 with the amount of spread teams, you basically need 4 starting CB. With Texas landing highly recruited CB D.Jean the coaches feel like they have their 4 this year. The only problem the Texas CB's have is getting int's. They had 2 combined int's last yr. They need to do better, especially in a passing conference. Just like with Johnson returning, the Coaches were shocked that both FS J.Alexander and SS N.Bennett didn't go pro. Both should be impact players this year.Comment

Re: BIG 12
Texas is coming into the 2026-27 season as the 3 time defending Big 12 champs. With losing 11 key starters this offseason, if they plan on a 4 peat a lot of young inexperienced players will have to step up. With the main core of the offense returning the only thing the coaches are worried about on offense is the oline. They'll have 3 new starters on the oline, two of them are freshmans, ones a RS the other is a true freshman. The defense is where Texas lost the most talent at. Their starting DE's, OLB's, FS and SS are all playing in the NFL now. SR J.Anderson and RS fr S.James replace All Americans D.Johnson and D.Rich at OLB. Replacing Montgomery and Wagner at DE are 2 soph's who have never played a down of college football. The coaches are exited for RS soph B.Hester and RS fr S.Hampton to finally see the field at FS and SS. Both were highly recruited coming out of HS and both have sat and learned behind All American J.Alexander and N.Bennett. Re: BIG 12
Texas is going for their 5th straight Big 12 championship this year and is hoping to make it to the National championship game. Something that has escaped Texas the last 2 seasons with them being jumped after conference championship weekend each of last 2 yrs. 2 years ago a 13-1 Texas team watched a 2 loss Alabama team jump them and last season Texas watched 2 teams they beat during the regular season play in the NC game. Yates is back for his 3rd yr starting at QB. In just 2 season the Junior Qb has thrown for over 8,000 yards and 60 td's. Joining Yates in the backfield once again is Rb Smith. Smith is a 4yr starter has had 3 straight seasons with over a 1,000yds with averaging roughly only 15 carries a game. Texas lost the most on offense at WR with Cummings and Mckinley leaving for the NFL. Replacing those 2 are 2 rs JR who have a lot of playing in Davis and Moore. Davis has sure hands and is more quick then fast and Moore is the WR with the speed on the roster, but Moore has a problem with dropping the football. Something that got him benched as a true freshman. 3rd WR is true freshman Williams and the 4th WR, will be between true freshman Brewer and rs Soph Smith. The biggest receiving threat on the team is the 6 8' 279lb TE Bright. Bright is a freak, he's big and fast and caught 9 tds last season while being Yates 5th option. On the oline Texas only replaces 1 starter, the Center. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing. As last yr the oline gave up 40 sacks....again. Defense write up will be up laterLast edited by Archsmith99; 06-08-2018, 08:05 AM.Comment

Re: BIG 12
On defense Texas lost 6 starter with 3 being from the secondary. The big surprise on defense last year was the play of rs Soph DE McNeil. In his first yr starting McNeil had 11 sacks. Texas will have 2 new starters at DT in SR Brown and JR Evans. They will look to stop the running game and give the LB's room to make plays. Returning for his SR season is the Captain of defense, MLB Huffman. Huffman won the defensive player of the year and best LB awards last yr. New starting ROLB is SR Hines. Hines has elite speed for Lb but he sat behind Johnson for 2 yrs and narrowly missed out starting last yr. At CB Texas is replacing 2 shut down corners with Mitchell and Pettway both playing on Sunday now. Texas will look for Jean and McIntyre to become the next duo of shut down corners to play at Texas. Replacing Jean and McIntyre at nickel and dime cb are rs Soph Gutierrez and true freshman Petty. Hampton returns as the starting FS. Last yr Hampton won the Thorpe award. Starting at SS is Lamb. Lamb is replacing all american SS Hester, Hester left school early for the NFL as a rs Soph. Lamb moved to FS 2 years but now moves back to his original position SS.Comment
