    Franchise Mode: Online or Offline?

Haven't played Madden franchise in a couple of years. Purchased the last 3 Maddens, just couldn't get into them. Would like to start a franchise but I'm rather unsure which to go with - should I play an offline franchise, or should I play online? Which is better? I don't mind needing to have the online connection to play (even if by myself) if it means a smoother and better updated way to play franchise. If I'll be missing out on features though, I will likely stay with offline franchise. Any clue on which is the better of the two?

I prefer offline simply because of the constant access. I never really understood if patches update an ongoing franchise or not though

Can you still play when there is a server outage? The other night it wouldn't let me in without logging into the server

Now that I'm thinking about it this is true. Without internet, we wouldn't be able to launch the game anyway...

I always do offline. But I assume you're a console player, in which case it matters less.

No reason to play online unless you're using a Teambuilder team or playing with friends. Backup saves and access through outages outweigh Teambuilder for me though. When you add mods it's a no brainer but that's only for PC.

If you want to start your Franchise from the current week, you have no choice but to play online.

The real question is, console or pc, even if mods aren’t part or the equation.

What happens to patches once you start your franchises? Are they incorporated? I never really understood if you needed to regard your franchise to take advantage of the updates?

In the patch notes they tell us if a certain update requires a new franchise. If it's not noted, it automatically applies.

Frankly there's no reason to buy the game on console. Objectively worse in just about every way, with the exception of having a bigger playerbase (which doesn't really matter outside of MUT/online players).
