both were offscreen videos. not sure how you get photo-realism from that.

He isn't. He is bringing bias into the equation because he has seen gameplay that IS good quality from NBA 2k14 and not just off-screen shots like this here.

NBA 2k14 is very realistic looking, but it has no purpose being discussed in this forum. Not to mention we truly haven't seen actual 1080p 60fps gameplay of Madden yet so no one has the right to judge either way. I refuse to let my opinions be shaped by a one-sentence quote from Kotaku, especially when all he did was criticize ALL the games coming out and say it was not worth getting a PS4 right now. I disagree with him right there already.

I see they put that CGI "Actual Game Footage" into that presentation.

        DESPICABLE.

        ****ING.

        DESPICABLE.

The back judge is on the field in CG Madden.

No confidence, they know their game is not that good. They edit it to cut to those E3 videos that look nothing like the real game! Why would you cut to cgi cut scenes when the real game is right there, red flag!

              It's not an EA video.

So the dudes making the video just decided on their own to heavily edit the Madden part of the video, while all other bits of gameplay where just raw footage?

                Alighty then.....

Actually the closer you get the more real it looks, comparatively it supposed to look less good at broadcast.

Definitely keeping my copy in the wrapper. Heavily considering exchanging it for NFS or FIFA and I don't really even like racing or soccer. Color me worried.

Really? Perhaps there is no room for discussion if you blindly accept that Madden represents the pinnacle of video gaming achievement and refuse to hear any different.

There is no other football game to compare it to, so what is left besides the other sports titles of the same generation? If one of those games happens to be made by a company that some people on this board inexplicably don't like hearing about than so be it.

FIFA has better presentation and realism as well, and it's an EA game, so perhaps that comparison will not ruffle your feathers so much.

We should instantly see a realistic pocket on passing plays, outside runs should have the line flowing with the play creating real cutback lanes and the new AI should have a noticeable effect on pursuit angles. If the improvements are in as advertised, madden gameplay footage should be blowing peoples minds.
I can attest to the improved line play IF what I saw at E3 was a true indicator. To be honest, that was months ago, and I would expect a little bit more than just that now.

BTW, 60 calculations a second is REALLY sad. I still laugh at that statement. Not at you - at the EA talking head for even saying that.

But back to gameplay - I don't expect much from the gameplay side outside of those improvements mentioned. In my opinion, that's not enough to justify buying the game again for next-gen.
