to keep this on topic, i am excited to see what's in store for sports games over the next couple years. they have the ability to do some really cool stuff, i just hope they do it.

      - Dreads appear, then disappear. Hmm.
      - I like Charles' footwork on that TD run.
      - Charles is now a Mexican man. Same thing happened to McCoy in M13. Hopefully we can fix it.

I'm glad I've lowered my expectations. Looking forward to making my own judgment next week.

Geez, did I even say I go by that? I saw the fumble first and then heard, that's a fumble.

When I saw it I thought it was the "player sense" stretching the ball out as he was getting tackled despite having already gotten the first down.

Re: Game Informer Madden 25 Stream (1:50 mark)

The stream yesterday was bad. This one was just flat out hard to watch. Have to love it when one of the first streams of your game the guys playing it have comments like "this doesn't look next gen AT ALL" and "I think I just saw a guy clip through another guy."

Before the game even starts it appears that EA still has not figured out how to optimize load times and menus. Menu lag and excessive load times on a next gen console should be unacceptable and are a quick sign of either a lazy or inept coder. This has me very worried about FIFA as I have not seen menu footage yet and that was the single biggest reason i switched to pc. Menu lag on EA ps3 games was unbearable.

In addition to it just flat out not looking good, what happened to any of the things that were focused on? Living worlds was flat out invisible. The crowd noise? Even on touchdowns there was no audible eruption let alone big plays. Very first play of the game in a real stadium when Charles gets to the edge the crowd would be going berserk let alone breaking off a 20 yard run to open the game. Here, just applause. Player sense? I saw nothing, repeat nothing that indicated that these players played with any additional intelligence over their current gen counterparts. Line play looked nothing like the war in the trenches video they showed. I was actually excited to see the new line interactions after watching the video a couple weeks ago. WHERE DID IT GO? It certainly wasn't in this video. I still see sizzle trailers showing those RGIII clips that we know for a fact are not what the current game looks like, even in replays. NONE OF THEIR MARKETING MATCHES WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IN EITHER STREAM.

I've seen two lengthy streams now and have not heard any new commentary. Wasn't that a huge marketing hype for living worlds? Where is the stuff they added? I'll admit I was kind of roller coaster over the past few months. First being pessimistic just because of the past history of EA. Then they got me to bite with the E3 video of Peterson turning sideways to fit through the line. Then the revealed how limited their improvements would be and I was disappointing again. Then war in the trenches video showed linemen turning defenders, chip blocks and intelligent second level blocking and I was pulled right back in. They showed screens and sizzle trailers of RGIII with scuff marks and scratches all over his helmet and I thought, well if nothing else at least it will be a new coat of paint on what was a decent current gen game. Now I see these two streams and the have no executed on any of it to a competent level. This to me is inexcusable. Not the fact that it isn't that improved, but the fact that they have repeatedly in many different forms sold things that they obviously are not delivering. Each of those marketing features they touted may be in the next gen game, but they certainly aren't in to the level they have hyped them and focused on them to be and from both streams have ZERO affect on the overall game. Footplanting may be something that needs to be played to feel but I can see with my own eyes they have failed on the other things they pitched because those aren't have to feel it features, those are eye candy event features.

Disappointing and coming up short is one thing. Selling something and then either being misleading about it or not delivering on it and then hiding behind an embargo before going live with sales is a completely different thing all together. Based on the scores Knack got I am pretty sure the developers knew there was a potential for bad scores but they didn't hide until the game went on sale. They threw it out there and took their lumps.

I honestly just don't know where this goes from here. I have bought Madden every year since the Apple IIgs and this is just flat out disturbing what they are doing with this license now. For Madden 15 I hope they just stay silent until its released because it appears that they are incapable of being up front and honest with their consumer.

Rant over. I've said my piece on 25 maybe I'll check back in closer to 15 but for now I'll just sit back and play the better games of sports that i like less and just hold my controller in my hands on Sunday and pretend I am controlling the players. It will be about as enjoyable as the alternative.

                      1. I saw a fumble out of bounds. Couldn't get a fumble if I tried in CG 25.(thought people who played CG 25 would chime in with that one)
                      2. The crowd swells were good.

I have found that fumbles can be effectively managed by lowering the fumble slider in CG M25. The key is that it needs to be set in relation to the tackle slider.

Keeping tackling the same and lowering the fumble slider yields more fumbles.
Keeping fumbles the same and increasing tackle slider also yields more fumbles.

The CPU does fumble less than human for equal settings and needs to be set lower (unbalanced) than the human value for the same tackle setting.

Anyway, looks like CG through and through. I was hoping to get some hands on via a demo at my local video store but they will not have it. I would like to see if there is truly a different feel to the game and that defense actually matters.

I would like to see CFM cleaned up immensely as well (sim stats, auto subs, injuries to O line, formation subs, etc). It's game play and immersion that keep me coming back for more, as the graphics and "wow factor" wear thin in short order.

The only reason I can justify plunking down $400 clams for a PS4 is a good football game and from what I have seen so far I am not the least bit interested.

Personally, I'm buying it because it's the only next gen football game and I enjoy football.

Until there's another option, there's no use complaining. Every year they "listen to the fans" but nothing changes. The only way things will change is if people don't buy. But, until there's another football option, people will buy.

Never said Madden was perfect; but I did call out the fact that a number of people here just seem to hate to hate...The majority of people, by a large percentage are busy playing the game instead of complaining and blaming others because they do not like EA for owning the exclusive NFL license and feel that somehow 2K football was robbed...Great thing for 2K football is, they will always have this superior game image for thos who really loved the 2K game, but in fact, they are filling the "unknowns" with the same wishful thinking that brings them back to buying Madden...It really is entertaining to witness.

Some unwarranted complaints - Pocket formation (it is in NG and it is as consistent as it is in the NFL; but it appears the complainers believe a "perfect" pocket, by their beliefs, should be present on every pass play - that is a personal issue, not EA/Tiburons issue....

Also, graphics: I saw cleaner and more accurate uniforms and especially helmets; the helmets had the shine, and even the metallic helmets had the silver or gold look as in real life...If you saw a stream of a Redskins night game and closed in on RG3, you would have seen the same detail as in the trailer.

Another addition - actual fully rendered sidelines...Never saw that is CG...Hence an improvement....

There was also double team pass blocking when warranted...No sense having a double team just to have one...

There was instances of true step, also when warranted...Seems some people think true step should be active even when not required.

Also noticed tighter/better pass coverage on plays and this was during the streams that were set to "pro."

From what I have seen there is a handful of Madden community players that over expect for each new release by injecting more into the promo videos and articles than what is truly there....

Now, that is not to say that Tiburon/EA has not made screw ups; they have...And I agree with may that Football would be better with competition and if Tiburon was dropped...There are lingering "legacy" issues that still need to be fixed, that I believe can only be fixed by a brand new, from the ground up build, hence competition like 2K, building from the ground up with the next gen technology should, without concern, build a better, more precise and crisp iteration of football...I believe it so honestly that I bet 2K or another company could build a popular game without an NFL license, but leaving the means in a custom uniform editor for inspiring people to create the NFL team unis... :-) Sometimes the best way to beat the bloated money beast it to put the abilities to edit in the hands of the consumer....

I believe PC Madden was canned, in large part due to the fact that the football community were modding the game to a level far exceeding Tiburons desire or abilities...
