They are accepting it because it's the only NFL game available, and folks need their "fix".
Actually, CP, based on the impressions I've been reading here and elsewhere, it's true, before SOME people bought the game, they needed a football game, but, after playing the game, they've have noticed the improvements.

So, what may have been true before the purchase, after playing the game, the only football game in town is not the reason anymore for people happy with the game.

I wasn't saying I disagree with that, I know some people are just getting their fix of the NFL. What I completely disagree with, is that the game won't improve until competition comes. The game has been improving the last two years without competition. Competition would further drive the devs, but trust me they are pretty driven right now and are pushing hard for a sim game of football. The improvements made from Madden 13 to Madden 25 next gen are the most we've seen in 10 years.

I would say the best thing the Madden devs did for next gen was set the bar extremely low coming from current gen

I guess, but now that Madden 25 next gen has been well received, that bar has been raised for Madden 15.

See, I think the game would have and would still improve much faster with competition. The devs being driven have nothing to do with my opinion. It has to do with resources allocated and those above setting the direction in order to keep up with what it's competitors are doing.

From what I'm reading in the NG impressions thread, on field AI has very welcomed improvements, but some OS impressions are it's not been improved enough. I am glad they are making those on field AI improvements. But where is the team improving the different franchise modes for M25 NG. I believe competition would have forced more and faster improvements.

I would like to see that bar raised to The Show, NBA2K standards. I think almost all of us can agree with that.

Oh I agree Road,I'm not denying the game hasn't improved from CG...and that reviews are pretty positive around here...but there's also the other side of the fence.

What I do think though,is that some (not all) are still in the "honeymoon" phase...you and I have been here long enough to know what that is and how that ends up....lol
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

Oh, yeah, but honestly, this is one of the few times I've seen a 80/20 split, so, it seems. People that have been disappointed and harsh on the Madden series are appearing to enjoy it more vs the past.

                  Just my observations. We'll see.

I'll wait and see what OS'ers say after a while, but the positive impressions so far are encouraging. If the impressions stay positive, that would be encouraging.

                      Hell yes.

I bought it for the PS4 only because I got it free from Amazon and I didn't get current gen. From all the pre-release hate, I was very nervous.

Now, I freaking love it. Best Madden I've played since 2010--the last one I played until the end of the NFL season.

For some reason, people were just foaming at the mouth, wanting it to be awful. They were so sure that EA was a mustache-twisting villain trying to sell us a dud. Now granted, EA didn't exactly help matters with their lack of pre-release gameplay, but clearly it wasn't because they were covering up a massive failure. Next gen Madden is a damn good game.

Idk, cause I dont think they can create a realistic playing, moving, and looking football game using the current engine, I just don't see it. Seems like they are going to continue trying to add on top of the current restricting game-play engine instead of building or buying & using one that has the basics (physics, momentum, foot-planting, etc.) built into it.

I really think its messed up that Madden gets a pass and NBA Live gets bashed because it is compared to NBA 2k. Truth be told Madden is just the same as NBA Live; if you think about it Madden hasn't come far at all, not in graphics, game-play, controls, or anything else, heck they don't even have true gang-tackling yet. The only difference is Madden has nothing to be compared too. I have a good feeling that if Madden didn't have the exclusive NFL license that another company would have made a way better game and Madden would be in the position that NBA Live is in now.

People need to stop giving Madden a pass by comparing it to past Madden's, it need's to be held to a higher standard, it needs to be compared to the best sports games for their particular sport and the fact that this is NEXT-GEN!

If they are going to continue to use the same game-play engine, then my outlook for Madden remains cloudy. Because all I can see is them wanting to add sim features like foot-planting, and better blocking but they won't be quite be and look right because the engine was't made with realistic movement and realistic football in mind.

Yes its much better than anything we had on xbox 360 and PS3....the next gen version is definitely a better game of football. That said..i really HOPE the developers put more work into what they have got here...also the presentation, animations, graphics, etc still need to be looking much better than we what we had for the next gen launch edition of Madden.

Animations..especially the tackle animations and non play animations like right after a play is dead..that robotic swivel animations players do really make the game look bad..as much as the tackle animations, etc

The sidelines need more attention as well.

The CUT SCENES need to be much MUCH more varied and the amount of them needs to be boosted 10 folds. Cut scenes are a GOOD THING...but only "IF" there are plenty of them..today there still are not nearly enough.

Repeating cut scenes really hurt this game. One clear example is after the possession changes to the other team...there is always that same quarterback animation where he is talking to the coach then runs onto the field...why do they show this every time after the ball changes teams? That HURTS the game soooo much...rather than remove this totally...simply add many many more variations of different cut scenes to mix it up...Gosh i wish they would just hire someone to work on these things ..have someone with real vision for stuff like this address these "little things"...it means so much to sports games.

Anyways...I am going to be posting a thread with all the presentation improvements needed for Madden next gen. I really hope others do as well so we can get the attention of the developers or atleast some of the gamechanger guys so they can speak to the devs. The atmosphere and presentation is such an IMPORANT part of sports videogames that these things need to be just as important as gameplay..it really does.

Overall though i am pretty happy with the next gen madden thus far. It's a fun game to play and so many important things been fixed or improved that now we finally have a decent football game to play.

its flashy, this will trick some for a few weeks. I have already seen past this, and it usually took me about a month before to do so. Back to APF it is. I will definitely check in on madden, and if they ever decide to make the sim stats realistic, I will go ahead and return for some CFM.

I just don't see anything close to an accurate representation of the game of football. there are too many boring elements like special teams and the AI's roster management as well as in game play calling, clock management, penalties, challenges(what I wish to challenge) etc. on APF I just had 2 plays challenged and overturned that were remarkably difficult, stuff that madden wouldn't have let me challenge. one was a pass they ruled as backwards that I challenged as forward. I had the CPU run on the field and attempt to draw me offsides before kicking a field goal. missed snaps, high snaps, low snaps, mishandled snaps, REALISM!!!!

just not enough there. and they still have the same problems as before. the legacy issues, are still there. you will see it if you sim ahead in CFM. the CPU roster management is the same. the issues with your player card that come into play later on. they seem confused as to what they want, sim or arcade, and are leaving a lot of things totally untouched. Its a matter of time before this year's 79 speed corner issue pops up in CFM. I give it a week.

I guess I hoped they had something totally new, as the game gets more and more....it becomes more of an arcade game that really isn't the NFL, its a childish take that leaves out key elements of the game. how is it that penalties and challenges have never been touched?
