Well no defense can stop every play, if it could, then there would be no reason to play any other defense. Cover 2 I think in this game gives you the most solid overall coverage, at least that I found. Granted, I agree the underneath coverage is still vulnerable. The way I combat this is control the middle LB and patrol just between the hashmarks. Stay in that zone and sit there to prevent the QB from dumping it off there. He'll have to wait longer then for crossing routes to cross the field, and in that time, he'll be more vulnerable to the pass rush.
I firmly believe covering the MLB in a cover 2 coverage in short passing yardage situations gives you the best bet of stopping the pass in those situations.
