They're going away from the BOTB mentality. Look at M15, that's going to be a trend for them.Comment

Yeah what I'm talking a about is a little different. I'm talking about improving on a feature. Not introducing a feature. True step was a new feature in 25 and one that would appeal to all fans because it had to do with movement among the glamour positions like Rbs. How do you put "true step now for Lbs and lineman" and make that appeal to casual fans?
Now the only time I've seen them re hype a old feature was I think they came with a second version of the truck stick which isn't exactly a sim featureComment

Some of them do, but I wouldn't say most. Everyone wants the same thing, a sim game. The only caveat, is everyone has a definition of "sim" and that is hard to achieve across the board. Rex and the devs want sim football as much or more than anyone on these forums, I promise you that.
We can always agree that everyone wants a sim game but what I'm getting at is the sacrifice of certain nuances that may create an "unfair" feeling in an online atmosphere that a lot of people simply don't want to have to deal with.Comment

Doesn't matter where they hype the features, all that matters is that they need to work well and consistently, and that's their main issue; they rarely do. And failing that, they're usually not nearly as impactful as they claim.Comment

I'm just clarifying my point. We disagree. You believe that hyping Improved OL lineman on the back of the box will encourage people to buy the game. I say most casual fans won't care and that's why ea doesn't hype or even appear interested in those features.Comment

Sounds like this Madden will be good. Wonder what the connected franchise for owner mode will be like.Comment

From the other side you speak for a large portion of consumers. That is where this difference is settled. Regardless, we still know little about what is to come.Comment

That^^ represents the majority of the Madden fanbase, and people who vehemently demand sim are looked at by these fans as total nutcases who nitpick and need to get lives. Personally, I don't care what they think of me, call me a nutcase, but I simply want what's being advertised.

All that matters is what they produce. So far, they haven't produced that, and they're not going to this year either. I'll bet my house on it. I realize the problem is much bigger than it seems on the outside, but as a consumer it's not our job to care about that. They've had more than enough time and they've made A LOT of irresponsible choices over the years that brought us to this point.Comment

Now about that bold, no, just plain no, realism is realism, ie "sim" when talking about game play, which is what Rex heads up, if I'm not mistaken. Please don't perpetuate that notion, sim in relation to game play is getting whatever applicable elements as realistic as reasonably possible, period. It aint nothing to do with various opinions of what "sim" means, sim has nothing to do with a stat engine, a text sim or any of that stuff, in reference to game play.
That said, people have various preferences with the amount of "sim"/realism they enjoy for game play and that's fine BUT that still shouldn't impede Rex or anyone else at Tiburon from making the game play as realistic as reasonably possible, due to options, sliders and settings being capable of being utilized for catering to those preferences.Comment

Not only does the average casual fan not care about the line blocking or any of the 100+ things sim gamers complain about, the average casual fan doesn't even notice them and wouldn't want to hear an explanation about them, which is why the "sim community" channels have so few subscribers while the Madden channels are huge and the creators make good livings from them.
This stuff isn't hard to measure.Comment
