the problem we have is the NFL, we need the encourage the NFL to end the exclusive license and open the door for third party developers to make games to force competition on EA, but the prospects and chances of that is slim to never....this is why the show and nba 2k are kicking their butts.

The background looks the same as Madden 15...They need some realism coming from the fans area, you cant event see the fans faces in the stands.. All they did was highlight the fans clothing to match the teams colors...

Ugh. Nighttime and indoor stadium lighting is still just too dark. It's like they are playing under minimal stadium lighting. Same as last year. And the "sheen" (shininess) on the uniforms is just way overdone.


In terms of the whole package I felt a little duped by Madden 15 (after not having bought it in 4 years). I think 16 may be another 'pass'

MLBTS has this amazing color matching tech that they used to transform this year's game. They pulled real life samples of various parks and uniforms from different times of day and from different months of the season, put it on a half screen, then put the game on the other half of the screen and tuned the game till it matched.

What they found was that to make white uniforms look like real life, they had to be a little blue, actually--that, and tons of other really interesting stuff.

The net result was a game that REALLY looks like what you see on TV when you watch a game (though player models could be better).

Given that this tech exists, I think it's sorely needed in Madden. I have not been able to play as a dome team for years because the lighting is so bad indoors in Madden and looks so little like a real life broadcast. I pretty much only think the 1 PM games look decent. The 4 PM games are alright, but still not realistic looking.

The team should try using this tech and leave off attempting to render lighting and color as they're doing it now, since it doesn't appear to be working.

Since I moved to ps3 in 2012 i've really been impressed with SCEA and their year to year dedication as far as improving on a solid game that is MLB the show. They always seem to go above and beyond what other titles (madden) do to improve their games. They aren't focused on back of the box features or one mans tattoos. They get the little things right and that is why they get my $60 ever spring.

But man madden is completely the opposite, its like each year it's buzz word features, year of the running back, year of the defense, year of the qb, year of the wr/db. And year after year we are right back to square one which is that this is the same broken game at its core. And it seems like they truly don't care to fix the little things which is unfortunate

I love MLB the show but is it really a fair comparison, The show is an exclusive game for the PS4 and PS3, Madden is an exclusive license game thats on all consoles and the NFL is a lot more popular. I appreciate everything the Show brings to the table, but I can go without playing a baseball game for a year.

Madden on the other hand I cant stand most of the time but I cant fight the football itch I get every year that makes me buy this game that I know doesnt meet my standards, so basically its guys like me that keeps allowing things like no graphical changes to not be a big deal for EA because they know guys like me will breakdown and buy it eventually anyway.

When the hand towels were originally added, if I recall correctly the thing was that there wasn't enough processing power on the XBOX 360 / PS3 to do collision between the player and the towel properly if it was centered over the belt buckle, so the towel got moved to the side.

Oh yeah, you're right. I remember that issue now. I wanna say there was a post by Ian about that, but I can't recall when. I remember when I was popping in at Tiburon during Madden 10's dev cycle, I saw builds where they had the towel and a handwarmer sort of fighting for position on the players waists, and the handwarmer band would disappear into the body a lot. It was pretty wacky. I just took it for an early glitch and never thought to consider it was anything deeper until it was clarified later.

Based on how many complaints there are about equipment right now with the current screen shots, I'd fathom to guess that it just hasn't been touched since; I would fathom to guess that the new consoles could handle it now if Tiburon dedicated the time to changing it. I assume, however, that Tiburon doesn't really view hand towel refactoring as a high-priority thing compared to any number of core gameplay changes they made.

Agreed, and it is infinitesimal in the grand scheme of things. I often struggle between my gamer side and my developer side when it comes to things like this.

I just feel bad for guys like Kane who work so much making recommendations for these fixes, but have to deal with development priorities that trump these types of visual issues.

Jerseys still look bad. 2K has perfected jerseys, from the way they hand, to the detail of the stitching. At least the faces look a little better on these..?

amazing no evolution with madden 15 in graphics, so difficult is to recreate 32 teams in their uniforms and helmets disappointment EA or helmets resemble real

The graphics are fine in Madden, improvement in gameplay is key.

I think it would be a major step up if they actually got used. The qb would walk up to the line with his hands inside the warmer. Or using the towel to wipe his hands. Why does it just have to be an aesthetic thing?

Also in the Photo thread Rex also mentioned they were going to try and fix the sideline and crowd NPC'S to wear cold weather gear during cold weather games. This would help add to the atmosphere of playing in Green bay if everybody is bundled up.

Alright but at least fix the color and lighting. Why does it gotta be so dull and dead like that? Who is okayin that over there? In the Gronk pic it looks like dude had most of his textures wiped off.

Madden's still suffering from the same thing as last year. It's almost as if there is a gray layer over everything and the saturation isn't all the way their. These aren't perfect edits by any means but it just shows the absolute lack of vibrant color that should be present.
