And that "realistic expectation" would then be for perfecting the casual style since there seem to be much more casual than sim gamers. We just should not be sticking our nose up to others just because we are starting to get what we want. I just don't buy your "only one style should exist while they perfect it and everyone else needs to suffer" approach to this.

That other guy is only asking for options to tailor play style. While EA/Tib is "perfecting" a sim style, why be against options for tailoring the game during the process? Since you are saying you are OK with the end product being both sim OR casual? How is perfecting sim while providing options for casual "muddying" the play style?

All that guy is asking for is options. Heck, that's all I've been asking of Madden since Sierra Front Page Sports died and I'm still asking Madden for an optional, realistic CFM/Franchise mode. And while I keep asking for a realistic (instead of such an arcade) CFM, I never demand the XP/Goals, etc be removed, because I understand that a lot of others like it. I just ask for realism options.

I'm not going any further with the bold because it feels like I'm talking in circles. I also corrected you by underlining a key change, nothing more I can say on the topic, "I'm a vindictive ***, I don't feel bad for ol Bucky". Whatever EA decides to do, I just hope they continue on improving the game to match what is on TV, if they get that right then I hope they supply the options you guys are wishing for. Until then, I just hope they put all their energy and resources into getting ONE direction working perfectly whatever that may be.

I live in a world of realistic expectations. Madden has NEVER had options, it has also NEVER got any style of play to work as "intended". So before we go jumping the gun of "**** the others", how about we get one style working as intended. Hell us "sim" players don't even have the game we want and "casual" players don't either. None of us have options, yet I'm just saying its UNREALISTIC to expect them to suddenly supply options to satisfy everyone. How about they stick to making the game tuned to ONE playstyle.

So you guys can sit back and flick coins in the wishing well that a "play style selector" manifest itself. I'm going to sit here and expect them to get the core game working and while I'm sitting here no I won't feel bad for the lack of options.............ITS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY......I didn't expect anyone to feel bad for me when it was a arcade fest. I "hoped" EA devs would see the light and go the direction of realism, so I guess my wishing well worked :wink:

Edit: Maybe I do sound a bit vindictive BUT I'm sorry, after years and years most of us here fighting for a more realistic football game. I truthfully don't feel a least bit sorry that I say "Sucks doesn't it, hope it doesn't take you 15 more years to get the game you want". At the end of the day in a perfect world, we would have options to design the gameplay to suit everyone's taste. That does not exist and ONE single year of it hinging a little more to the realism side does not suddenly make me feel bad for that "style" of gamers. I hope they get what they want, but I'm going to enjoy what I've somewhat fought for gameplay wise for 15 plus years. All I can do is tip my hat and say, "I hope you don't have to wait as long as we have had to Bucky".

Then by your own somewhat obsurd logic of only one play style being the "realistic expectation", there are more casual gamers than sim gamers, you have no right to complain about casual gameplay. So your "realistic expectations" would be us NOT having a sim style football video game and only a casual football video game.

Sorry, but I think a "realistic expectation" SHOULD be options.



I see you have added that edit at the end. I'm mid 50's. I've waited as long as anyone for a sim NFL football game. Didn't have a console back then so I never tried NFL2K. The last real sim FB game I can remember (or as close to sim as possible) was Sierra's Front Page Sports. I've already waited as long or longer than you for a sim football video game and I am still waiting with that ARCADE CFM we have. That doesn't make me lose compassion for others. That waiting makes me sympathize with others.

I am going to have to agree with bucky60. That is a poor attitude to have that just because you "have waited for awhile for a football game you could enjoy" that we should just say screw everybody else. 2k sports makes a NBA basketball game with more user control then any other sports game out there and they do it with the same short development cycle. It is a matter of having people that have the expertise and the want to do it.

You completely lost me honestly. What I meant by "realistic expectations" was only one style of play should be perfected before they try and bring others in the mix which could downgrade all possible modes of play.

I'm lost where you are getting your "realistic expectation" on casual and sim players. My stance stands for both, if they intend to get a casual playing madden then by all means go 100% and get it working perfectly. If they go a sim route, then do the same. I'm unbiased in that regard, but I don't believe muddying the "play style" waters is the right route yet, no I don't.

Meaning going to talk to EA themselves, tweeting themselves, and private messaging EA themselves. Instead the go to forums and complain. Then the thread falls below the 4 to 5 an it's another year these people don't get what they want. Like for example, I wanted M&T Bank Stadium accurate . I called EA, made a thread here and on the EA site. Even tweeted the team myself. What happened to my thread? it fell into thread zone lol. Not one person was proactive or made their voice heard. So at this point, I don't care to hear it. Because most people give hot air while others push the effort. That is the truth.

Which is fine you can disagree with my mind set. How those old people use to say "Back in my day, I walked uphill both ways to school with no shoes". Well, its hasn't been that bad yet for you "casual" players. Give it a couple years and it might pull at my heart strings........sorry just me being real. On a serious note I hope you do get those options. So to make it crystal clear, I AGREE options should exist.

The wonky sliders in both Madden and NCAA have frustrated me for YEARS. Beyond the Casual & Sim classifications, there are a lot of people (including me) who are somewhere in between. If sliders worked as they should, a lot more folks would be happy.

I'll also echo what others have suggested. If the game had working sliders, it should be pretty easy to have some pre-set settings for Simulaton, Default, Arcade....and then of course users could customize beyond those starting points.

Lastly, I said options are fine. I hope you guys get them, but I feel it should come when they have a perfect base from one side to work off of. I believe a sim base is easier to work from since it exists in reality, compared to working from a arcade towards a sim playing style.

Oh, you've been clear. And your contradiction was clear. Let me spell some of this out.

You say perfect one or the other first, then provide options for everyone to be happy.

That implies that you are OK with the END Product being casual AND sim. I post this in a thread and for some reason you correct it to be casual OR sim, but have the END PRODUCT (perfected play style) have options to please everyone. And you can't see the contradiction?

We disagree on the point that one MUST be perfected before allowing options for the other. I'm on the side of perfecting sim while providing options for arcade. Since CFM is already arcade, I would like to see options for CFM realism.

The "some other" poster was Mastershake88, yours truly . And It wasn't for the sake of implying. It was more so telling it how it is. I have found that people love to complain rather than take the multiple outlets to be proactive about their issues. In other words, if you're focusing on addressing the problem in a constructive manner, creating forums for the developers, emailing, calling, and directly communicating with them then you're not on a forum needling and being tongue and cheek. So if I have a criteria(which I don't) you didn't meet it because I'm about action, not wasting time.
