Awesome as opposed to what? Are we gauging it against the NBA 2k series and The Show? OR are we gauging it against the very low bar set by its predecessors? If the former, then what area specifically, in this year of our Lord two thousand and fifteen, has this game reached parity with these two games in? Its anybody's guess whats gonna be mentioned but based on the temperature in this thread, gameplay will likely be mentioned. Yes, ratings matter just a bit more and the catch animations are more lifelike than ever, but the day I can have points of emphasis for my team to focus on AND customize a gameplan for specific teams offensively and defensively is the day I will declare parity. Even then, CFM, in its current incarnation, will have to be eradicated with extreme prejudice. A multi-seasonal that can compete with those two games will never, NEVER be born from its code. The game got better, that is all, lest the bar is lower than I originally imagined.

Improved seems to me the better word.

Awesome as in this game is very close to achieving nba 2k and the show as an overall package. GAMEPLAY wise, I've played the show from mlb 05 until last year and in my humble opinion, madden 16 has surpassed the gameplay of the show in fun factor. The show's gameplay has become stale and flat out boring.

The jump from madden 15 to madden 16 is huuuuge in my eyes, I got rid of madden 15 after a week because of the robo qb and other issues.

1)Qb ratings matter A LOT!, not marginal improvement, but hugely significant. I'm talking about struggling to hit 50 percent completions with backup QBs. With Rodgers, you feel like you're a gunslinger who can fit the ball in the tiniest of openings.

      2) QBs are smarter overall with regarding to pocket pressure. Kaepernick will look to scramble at the earliest opening possible. Some other Qbs will scramble later, like Romo just to get rid of pressure. Some jus throw away.

Not only this, QBs make plays alive a bit longer than in past years when the opportunity is there. One instance, the CPU QB scrambled and had 4 yards easy if he chose, but instead froze my cpu controlled defensive back in zone and completed 30 yards.

Some are just oblivious to pressure and take more sacks than needed.

This is just on QBs alone. You can feel significant tangible differences in wide receivers , RBs, TE and CBs. Last game I played, cowboys vs jaguars....dez bryant had 12 cacthes for 198 yards. It was funny and sad at the same time how I kept abusing the CBs time and time again. If I play the seahawks , do you think I'd get 200 yards that easily? I doubt it.

the gameplay is THAT good for me and if this game just shipped with play now only, i'd still be happy. Gameplay is king, the rest is a bonus for me.

I love this years madden and won't be trading it in once 2k drops . Just fix the cfm issue and tone down the one hand catch animation and this game is almost a 9 /10

Completely agree Philly!! I've loved The Show franchise mode but honestly don't see what is so much different than CFM. You pick a team, play through season, call up kids from minors, deal with injuries, finish season and repeat. As for 2k, my last one was 14 and I hated the passing issues so much I trade it in and went back to the better Nba2k11, so I cant speak on its current franchise mode.

While madden lacks the presentation factor, I dont see what is so much different than some the games marked as the greatest out there. You cut players, start a season, sign free agents, make trade moves, finish season, draft, and rinse repeat like my of these games.

If madden made games feel alive and carrying meaning it would go a long way in feeling invested in the world. Its main flaw now is just no excitement which causes it to quickly lose that immersion feel.

You are joking right. Both madden and NBA 2k are better games than MLB the show. In both madden and NBA 2k, the ratings and sliders actually matter. On MLB the show, the ratings and sliders are useless. It is a joke. I had MLB the show 15, and while it is a decent game, it only caters to one type of player, when it should cater to EVERYBODY. When it comes to being a good sports VIDEO GAME, both madden and NBA 2k are alot better than MLB the show.

Re: EA you guys made an AWESOME game. Please don't cave in to the complainers

I think they definitely made a huge jump in the right direction this year. Once they iron out the bugs I can then say it is the best Madden I've ever played.

The complaining on here is overblown as it is every year, and I'm about 99% certain that a lot of it has to do with people not being able to bend the game to their will. "Oh, I didn't go 16-0 with my Redskins, this is BROKEN, that is BROKEN. I wasn't able to trade for X player that's a 99 overall, trade logic is BROKEN". And the list goes on and on. Same as every year.

Honestly, a good bit of the stuff people are complaining about can be fixed with simple slider adjustment. Sliders actually work this year. The aggressive catch can be eliminated completely by turning up human reaction time and pass coverage. Same goes pass/run game.

If I can be completely honest, I peeped a lot of the youtube/twitch streams from so called "respected" Madden folks, and I seriously doubt that most of them actually even watch the real NFL and claim to know football based on epsn highlights.

Pretty much my viewpoint. If they fix cfm this maybe the first time I play multiple seasons since the ps2 days.

I think it's just the reverse. People complain about not enough realism. Not about wanting more arcade. I believe your examples are absolutely wrong.

I went about 6 seasons deep in a JAX CFM in M15 and to me, M16 is a much better game in every way. I love the recruiting aspect of NCAA14 but I can see putting the PS3 that I got a few weeks ago on the back burner for M16 and my PS4 for the long haul. Maybe I'm just taking the game for what it is (a game) but thus far I see NOTHING wrong with M16!!!

Fixing CFM is a great start. Even though there are strides to be taken in gameplay, I like the gameplay. But even after CFM bugs are fixed, I just don't like the arcade feel to CFM. That's just a comment on personal preference on my part.

Not sure what you mean by arcade feel to CFM. Can you elaborate?

Problem with a lot of guys who want realism is when they get it they complain. See the increase in injuries a few years back.

Lol, raises hand. I didn't understand all the contract rules in MLB The Show and watched as Machado, Bundy, Gausman all ended up not on the Orioles after the off season. Thank goodness for saving before the off-season started.

Mainly the progression/regression system. But a lot of other things are missing, like practice squads. A lot of people like that XP/Goals RPG loop, but it's highly unrealistic and has progression backwards. Realistic progression would have statistics follow progression instead of progression relying on meeting goals.

I personally would like the game to have both actual values and perceived values for overall and attributes. The actual values would be hidden, while the perceived values would have some % of inaccuracy, represented by a number range or letter grade (including a player potential value). The accuracy of the perceived values would depend on how good the coaching staff is at evaluating talent for NFL players and how good the scouting staff is for rookie drafts.

My dream progression would depend on things like the
                            Coaching staffs ability to teach,
What the coach decides to emphasize in practice (OTA's, Training Camp, Preseason, regular season, playoffs), for both team and individual drills,
                            Players potential.

I'd like to see a PUP, practice squad, living/realistic injury system where players can play with injuries at a certain risk with reduced effectiveness.

More in the lines of Head Coach. I only had the PC version of HC, which was just the first one.

I would also like as much customization as possible. Custom Teams, full editing even during a franchise.

I realize a lot of people like that XP/Goals RPG feedback loop, but it is just not for me. Make's me feel like I'm putting a quarter into an arcade machine instead of being immersed into an NFL world. But like I said, it's just personal preference.

The one thing I really appreciate is play calling matters more than ever. Along with all the things mentioned in the thread. I agree this is a great installment of Madden.
